Oops Double post -

although I will chime in on the GC - if I could afford a decent GC for 5 different teachers - I would be all over that - WAY easier than what I did - I am looking forward to the days when they will each only need one or two gifts!

I'm depending on the grandmother too! And EBay because they're much cheaper.
OMG

Dawn - I thought you were talking about babysitting - I had jsut read Paula's post about not trusting anyone and had that in my head and didn't read the quote very carefully

I was really worried about the babysitters you were finding on ebay!!!! :teeth:

Paula, I'm sorry to hear about the house issues you are dealing with. I hope that it sells quickly. Chuck has talked about buying rentals and I'm not the least bit interested for all the reasons (issues) that you listed. I don't want to worry about what kind of tenants are in there.

To be honest with you, it is not a bad thing it just takes awhile to get your money back and free cash flowing. If you want to read a great book try Rich Dad Poor Dad, it was a great read for us.

We are trying another rental in AZ, but this time we have a property manager who is all that and a bag of chips. She is a “this is how it is” with both tenants and us. If we don’t pay her maintenance guy with in a week of him doing work on the house, she calls us and reminds us he is worth it and we need to take care of it now.

So the house up the hill was a bad idea, but so far the house in AZ is great.

Now don’t get the idea that we are made of money, we are not. We are just rolling the dice and hope we come out ahead in the future. As of now we are upside down in the AZ house but it’s only bee about 6 mths, so we have a few more to go before we come out even, then a few more before we take a profit.

With the girls so young we figure we have a little time for this to work out.

I want to be a Real-estate Mogul!!:lmao: So I can just drop what ever and fly off to Disney or vacation in Europe whenever I get a wild hair.

:cool1:

Back to the real world for now. :teeth:

That's EXACTLY what Brantley-Kate said when she asked how all three of them got in my tummy! She said I must have been really hungry to eat three babies that day! :rotfl:

 that is too funny! :rotfl:

Ugh! The darn server ate my post!

I received my postcard from the May 18ther's today. Christopher saw the Disney characters and thought it was for him so I let him believe that. Y'all totally made his day! He was so excited to receive mail, and from "Disney".

Thank y'all for thinking of us!

Oh my goodness Heidi -

thank you for posting this - I remember seeing her in my more active CB days!

Sure puts life in perspective!

Yesterday, Alyssa and I ended up going to the zoo, just the two of us. We were there from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and though it hot, but we had so much fun. We upgraded our zoo pass this summer, so now we get to ride the train and the carrousel. We were the only ones on the carrousel for a while and the guy kept stopping it so Alyssa could switch animals. I'll try to post the pictures later.

We have a new Australian exhibit and the kangaroos are so cute! They are out in the open, but sadly, none of them wanted to come up close and visit. The koala is behind glass, and he was sleeping, so I didn't get a good picture Jennifer. Maybe next time!

Last night, Kevin had a lot of yard work to do, so Alyssa and I met his mom and one of Alyssa's cousins at the park for a couple hours. Needless to say, by the time we got home, I could barely walk from being on my feet so much. I didn't even venture in the basement to turn on the computer! Shocking, I know! :teeth:

Here's lots of :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: and :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: for your headaches, sick kiddos, DH's, and pets, and job interviews and doctor's appointments too. And here's lots of :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: and :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: for all the good news you all have posted too.

I hope everyone has a great day!
Amy :)

P.S. As a former teacher, I truly appreciated gift cards as presents. I know those aren't very "personal," but they are very practical! Restaurant gift cards are always good, in addition to Target and Barnes and Noble.

Sounds like the 2 of you had a lot of fun at the zoo. We have a new Australian building at our aquarium that just opened up last fall. The Maryland zoo though leaves a lot to be desired. Thankfully the National Zoo is close enough to visit. Make sure you take it easy today!

He is still running a high fever this morning. I think he vomited because his temp was up, not because it is a stomach bug. As long as he has Motrin and Tylenol he seems better. 5 of the kids in his class are all having the same symptoms, so we're thinking they all caught something the last day of school. I just hope Rees doesn't get it cause we'd have to postpone surgery.

:wizard: for Davis to feel better soon and :wizard: for Rees so he doesn't catch it.

I think that is would be appropriate for us to make a donation through the Pixie Dust Fund for OctoberBeauty -

what do you all think?

So is the server busy message related to the new RSS feeds and ads?!!?

It is very annoying!

Clare -- that was my second guess, but with one major difference - the words in the middle! How cool is that?! And I guess the size was different as well.... but I'm hooked on the words! So you said some have your name in them. Do people order them personalized for like party favors, or is it just general first names or what?

If you buy them from a seaside shop they usually just have a range of common first names... when I was looking for images to post though I did find some sites that do them as wedding favours with the bride and grooms name inside... that's what it was on the pic I posted :goodvibes

Well, Becky's last final was yesterday. So I guess that means she is officially done being a junior and is now a senior. Only one year left with my baby at home! :sad:

 I feel for you. Emma is almost done Kindergarten and I am freaking out that she will be a 1st grader. I don't know how I am going to handle her high school graduation.

I haven't posted much lately but have been dropping by to read so that I don't get too far behind, hopefully after this weekend things will slow down.
But after reading this post I have to share a family story. When my youngest DD was 3 we were visiting at the in-laws and we were sitting around looking at family picttures when my mother-in-law showed my DD a picture of my DH, my oldest DD and myself, I was pregnant in the picture so my MIL told my DD that she was in the picture too, she was in my tummy. My DD's eyes got as big as saucers and she looked at me very nervously and said " What did you do? Eat me? " :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Needless to say she brought down the house!
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

That is priceless! You should write that up and send it to Reader's Digest!

I love my Vera Bradley purse and have toyed with the idea of one of the backpacks too. They are VERY "in" here in Virginia. I bought the purse because I loved the print. It is the black with the pink ribbons. I love the colors. Maybe I need to take a look at her new colors too. ;)

Is there a website where I could see all the options?

Thanks for the help with the bags. I appreciate the opinions. I am going to order the smaller ones for all her teachers. Here is a design that I came up with for her teacher and assistant

I am going to have Emma put her handprints on either side of the design. I am working on something for the other teachers.

Emma and I are feverishly trying to come up with something for her teachers. I really liked the aprons but she said that only her art teacher wears one. I have played around with the idea of a canvas tote bag and designing something to put on it and either getting a few books to stash in there or a gift card to a teacher supply store. I also thought about making pins with beads in the school colors and trying to find a charm to add as well. Thinking this way I could do the art, music, Phys ed, and her regular teacher and assistant as well.

As a former teacher, I would have adored to get gift cards to a book store. I would also have liked cards to restaurants, movies, etc. Those are things that most teachers can't afford all the time. During the summer they come in handy.
