Yesterday, Alyssa and I ended up going to the zoo, just the two of us. We were there from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and though it hot, but we had so much fun. We upgraded our zoo pass this summer, so now we get to ride the train and the carrousel. We were the only ones on the carrousel for a while and the guy kept stopping it so Alyssa could switch animals. I'll try to post the pictures later.

We have a new Australian exhibit and the kangaroos are so cute! They are out in the open, but sadly, none of them wanted to come up close and visit. The koala is behind glass, and he was sleeping, so I didn't get a good picture Jennifer. Maybe next time!

Last night, Kevin had a lot of yard work to do, so Alyssa and I met his mom and one of Alyssa's cousins at the park for a couple hours. Needless to say, by the time we got home, I could barely walk from being on my feet so much. I didn't even venture in the basement to turn on the computer! Shocking, I know! :teeth:

Here's lots of :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: and :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: for your headaches, sick kiddos, DH's, and pets, and job interviews and doctor's appointments too. And here's lots of :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: and :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: for all the good news you all have posted too.

I hope everyone has a great day!
Amy :)

P.S. As a former teacher, I truly appreciated gift cards as presents. I know those aren't very "personal," but they are very practical! Restaurant gift cards are always good, in addition to Target and Barnes and Noble.

These Google ads, do you think they are the same for everyone?

I find it very funny that the ads I see are for potty training sites! What does Google have a bug or hidden camera in my house?

My world is getting smaller! Remember the news that was posted last night about the two girls in the accident. The one that lived (first thought dead) is close friends with the daughter of one of my best friends who lives in Gaylord MI. My best friends whole family attended the funeral. The boyfriend is now down with the girl in the hospital and keeping my friends daughter updated. I thought it was a tragic story before but hearing more of the details makes it even more tragic. So sad!!!

I was pregnant in the picture so my MIL told my DD that she was in the picture too, she was in my tummy. My DD's eyes got as big as saucers and she looked at me very nervously and said " What did you do? Eat me? "

That's EXACTLY what Brantley-Kate said when she asked how all three of them got in my tummy! She said I must have been really hungry to eat three babies that day! :rotfl:

When I was little I had a ton of smocked dresses, Polly Flinders. I really wish my mom would have saved them. I love the look of the smocking but it is really hard to find them around here.

I had some Polly Flinder's dresses for Laura when she was little. They were all 2nd hand. They are darling, and we definitely don't see them much around here.

Poor Davis! I hope that he wakes up feeling much better this morning, but he must be upset about missing the meet at the park. :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

He is still running a high fever this morning. I think he vomited because his temp was up, not because it is a stomach bug. As long as he has Motrin and Tylenol he seems better. 5 of the kids in his class are all having the same symptoms, so we're thinking they all caught something the last day of school. I just hope Rees doesn't get it cause we'd have to postpone surgery.

I just finished Julia's teacher gifts and I can't even begin to tell you how pleased I am with them!!!

This is the keychain blocks that we made - I actually did these after she went to bed - I bought the little blocks for $2.99 (30 of them) then I used a sharpie to outline them and add the letters - then I drilled a hole in them and put a leather like string through them - it was $2 and then the key rings - they were about 25 for $2 - so my total cost was $7 for these
gifts001.jpg

Then I made these aprons -I used dark transfer paper for the crayon and blocks - the aprons were $14 for 3 - but I used my Michaels 50% off so they were $7 - I bought the other two seperately and they were $5 each - I splurged on the flower and butterfly appliques and they cost $11 and those are of course - Julia's handprints - so the aprons cost me $28 to make 5 - but I could have cut the cost by $11 and not used the appliques

but since I only spent $35 on the 5 teacher gifts - I didn't mind splurging!!!

Those look great. Between Julia's great ideas and your creative talents you made some priceless gifts.

Prayers and pixie dust that Davis is better very soon and that Rees doesn't get this. :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

By the way, where did you get your ticker? I like the more exact countdown.

I haven't posted much lately but have been dropping by to read so that I don't get too far behind, hopefully after this weekend things will slow down.
But after reading this post I have to share a family story. When my youngest DD was 3 we were visiting at the in-laws and we were sitting around looking at family picttures when my mother-in-law showed my DD a picture of my DH, my oldest DD and myself, I was pregnant in the picture so my MIL told my DD that she was in the picture too, she was in my tummy. My DD's eyes got as big as saucers and she looked at me very nervously and said " What did you do? Eat me? " :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Needless to say she brought down the house!

Well, Becky's last final was yesterday. So I guess that means she is officially done being a junior and is now a senior. Only one year left with my baby at home! :sad:

Tons of :wizard: for your dogs, Deb. I just made an appt. for our dog to have his surgery on the 9th, so I hope everything goes smoothly. It is so sad that they have to go through all of this.

I hope Nick is feeling better today.

:wizard: I hope the surgery takes care of all his problems. Having pets grow old is so difficult.

Nick went to school. Hopefully his is feeling better. Last year he would do anything to stay home from school and this year he goes even if he isn't feeling quite right. I have to say it is a nice change and a show of maturity for him.

That's how I feel about them going to Kindergarten. I can't imagine me 13 years from now when they're leaving home. Y'all will have to scrape me up off the floor. Hugs to you, Vicki! But isn't it amazing how she's all grown up and you're still 29????????????? ;)

Deb, hope Nick's feeling better and that the prednisone works for your dog. It sounds so painful!

As a former speech student and teacher, I can tell you that the informational speech is one of the easiest! :thumbsup2

Choosing a topic that really interests you helps you in two ways: 1) it's easier to memorize and 2) you're more enthusiastic in your delivery!

Congratulations on your other speech too!

Amy :)

Thanks amy--its good to know that this is the easiest!

You were a speech teacher? so let me ask you,,,,would "informing" about cruise vacations be a good topic

I am going to make the tote bags and stuff them with something. Which one do you think is more practical. The 1st choice is smaller and a $6 cheaper. But the 2nd one seems very practical as far as the size. Which do you think would be better? I was thinking maybe the small ones for her music, art and phys ed teacher and the larger for her teacher and assistant.
