I am going to make the tote bags and stuff them with something. Which one do you think is more practical. The 1st choice is smaller and a $6 cheaper. But the 2nd one seems very practical as far as the size. Which do you think would be better? I was thinking maybe the small ones for her music, art and phys ed teacher and the larger for her teacher and assistant.

I like the first one better.....most of the tote bags that i see are like the second one so i really like how the first one is a bit different

That one is very popular around here. I have the bag, wallet and small cosmetic case. I tried to buy one that would last year round, as it is too expensive to have one for every season!

That is why I chose the "Hope" pattern with the pink ribbon for breast cancer. I always figure I can carry it year round too!

:wizard: For Chuck. Keep us posted.

:grouphug: That Davis gets well quickly and :grouphug: :wizard: that Rees does not catch it. This surgery is so important and you have your mom coming to help. OK, here's a little more :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

OMG!! You are not going to believe this! Here's a story of how small our world is!!!!

After TeresaJoy posted about seeing Kate, I sent her a pm when I saw that she was from Michigan. I told her I was from the U.P. and asked where she was from. She sent a nice note back saying where she lived, that her husband had attended Michigan Tech in the UP and where did I live in the UP. I sent another one saying that Chuck & I had met at Michigan Tech and the years that we were there. She sent another note saying that her husband was there at the same time. What a small world, she says! She went on to say that he used to hang out with Bob & Liz x, Dave y, Chuck & Vicki z. Imagine my surprise when I opened the pm and saw my name in the middle of her post. I couldn't read it fast enough.

This is our long lost buddy & his wife. We attended their wedding. I just asked Bob a couple of months ago if he had their address because I wanted to start sending Christmas cards again and their last one came back. He didn't have it. I just got off the phone with him and he is excited that I've found them too.

Bob & Liz were our neighbors in married student housing when we first got married. Dave, Bob & her DH were best buddies. Chuck was a grad student and worked a lot of evenings & Liz was a nurse that worked nights. I can't tell you how much time we all spent together over those first two years of my marriage. We hung out all the time. After we moved to Holland MI, they all met there to hang out one year. We got together for their wedding and Dave's wedding. These were very close friends. I'm so excited to have made contact with them again. I can't believe I did it through the DDA.

Can you tell I'm like this right now????!!!!!! :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

That is so wild!!!!
I am so happy you foiund them again!!!!

:hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper:

love this smile!!!

Can you make any other suggestions of what teachers would like? I have 2 weeks to figure something out.

I love to get gift certificates for restaurants in the area. Since I work downtown it is especially nice to get them from shops downtown too! Maybe even one from a store like Ulman's or a Place in Time that sells Vera Bradley. :thumbsup2

Hi everyone. I hope you all had a relaxing holiday.

I've been reading along but haven't felt like posting. I don't feel well, but I can't really pinpoint what is wrong. Probably a combination of the heat and fatigue. I also have a headache that won't go away.

Lots of exciting things have been happening to DDA's the past few days. My thoughts are with all of you and the DDA kiddos.

We spent the holiday cleaning and organizing. We mananged to get a lot done but unfortunately there's still more. I'm just so slow these days.

Christopher asked the question over the weekend. "How do babies get in the tummy?" I was unprepared to answer so I distracted him with candy  . I feel like I should answer him as honestly as I can but without giving it all away. He's only 5. I've seen a few "scripts" for this, but they are a little more graphic than I'd like to be. Anyone had to answer this question at such a young age? It's not that I don't want him to have the information, I just see this being an exciting new topic for him on the playground and I'm sure other parents wouldn't appreciate the free education, KWIM?

My favorite answer when I have no other is God said so, God made that happen, God XXXXXXXXXXX (insert your answer).
Now that has worked for most things I have no answer for, but one day it will not work at all. :)

Robyn - I carry tote bags every single day filled with books and lesson plans. Although the larger tote is lovely, I would opt for the smaller one simply because they get heavy fast! So, you save some money and I think the teachers will love them.

I think I've resolved the mystery on why some are getting Google ads and some aren't. Sorry, I'm a computer geek! When there is a mystery like this, I have to try to figure out why. I think that it is the "forum skin" that you have selected. In your options at the very bottom of the screen, you can change the forum skin. It changes the color scheme as well as some things at the top. In my testing, I found that the default (Orlando Blue) had the google ads at the top that you were complaining about. I have Disney Vacation Club set (because I'm dreaming and I like the colors). It does not have the google ads. I also tested Serenity Green as well as Swan & Dolphin. Those don't have the google ads. So in conclusion ...

If you don't want google ads, change your forum skin.
:cool1: I changed and they're gone!!!!! Thanks Vicki!!!!!!!

Teresa - I am glad you joined in - and how cool that you and Vicki know each other!!!

Rumors are correct - I went to the doctor today and surgery it is - my doctor isn't a surgeon and in fact - no one in his practice can do the surgery so he is sending me to another surgeon - who will tell me 1 of 3 things

1. Sorry - your knee is too screwed up and I can't help you - let's pray this is not his answer b/c then basically I am screwed and will have to wait until my knee has a total breakdown and I have a knee replacement

2. I will give it a shot but I can't promise you anything - which again could someday result in knee replacement but at least give me a chance at relief and recovery

3. You are the perfect candidate for this surgery and it will fix everything - OBVIOUSLY this is what I would love to hear from him!!!

So that appointment is next Friday morning - so if you all could keep me in your prayers for then

Denise - I hope you get the job - that would be wonderful!!

Paula - leaving your kids gets easier and easier and in the end makes you a better parent!

I VOTE FOR #3!!!!! PD #3 PD #3 PD #3 PD #3 PD #3 PD #3 PD #3

I am working on leaving the girls, I am just a freak mom who thinks I am theONLY one who can/will do the best for my girls. AND I don't trust people these days. I almost would have a PI check out babysitters, but I don't have the money for it. :teeth: I know this will pass as time goes on, but as for now I will tap my mom and pay her gas to drive an hour for me. :thumbsup2

Dawn- So have you answered Christopher's ? yet? When I was pregnant with Molly, Emma asked me how the baby got out of my tummy. I answered her by simply saying that when Molly was ready to come out I would go to the hospital and she would be born there. She was 4 and I thought that if she wanted more info than that then I would tell her. She was satisfied with my answer but later we were watching the last epidsode of Friends when the Monica's twins were born and she said "Mom, babies come out of your butt!" Well I then had to go into a little more detail. I will have the clothes for you ready to ship out this weekend.
Not yet. I'm going to wait for him to bring it up again. I know he will. I'm going to be honest but give as little information as possible. If he asks more questions, I'll fill in the blanks. I also don't know how much good it will do, but I'm going to also talk to him about this being private and that it's ok to talk with us about it, but not other people.

He asked me already how the baby would come out and since I know I'm having a c-section I told him about that. I'm lol at Emma because when I was little I thought that's how they came out too.

Again, thanks for the offer of the clothes. That's very sweet of you :goodvibes

My MIL loved smocked dresses and bought several Polly Flinders for the girls over the years when they were little. They are beautiful dresses but I could never see myself spending that kind of money. Luckily, they had a doting grandmother to spend it on them instead.
I'm depending on the grandmother too! And EBay because they're much cheaper.

Gift certificates are great for teacher gifts. You can always use a $5 or $10 one to a restaurant or shop. My fave to get is Target or WalMart. Everyone can use those! The aprons are great that Kate made. Next year in Kindergarten I'll have 3 K teachers, 3 K Parapros, Rees' PT, OT, and Speech Therapists, Rees' special Parapro, Music/PE/Art/French teachers. I better be on the lookout for practical and CHEAP gifts! Y'all will have to help me think of ideas or I will be BROKE! That's 14 people!

A little PD for Davis please. He vomited in the middle of dinner (twice- very fun) and is running a 104 fever now. He's missing his class meet at the park tomorrow am now. He's pretty miserable. I just ran down to finally eat some dinner and then I'm headed back to check on him. John's watching Piglet's Big Movie with him right now.

I hope he is better today. PD and prayers for Rees!
