or you can go on ebay and type in vera bradley backpack - or whatever style you pick from her website -

they are WAY cheaper on ebay - I got mine for $45 - they retail at $85 - it was new and not a knockoff!

He is still running a high fever this morning. I think he vomited because his temp was up, not because it is a stomach bug. As long as he has Motrin and Tylenol he seems better. 5 of the kids in his class are all having the same symptoms, so we're thinking they all caught something the last day of school. I just hope Rees doesn't get it cause we'd have to postpone surgery.

I'm sending more :wizard: your way. I know how hard it is to keep kids away from each other. My twins are so dependant on each other, that when one is sick I just know the other will get it as they crawl into bed with each other. Hopefully this won't happen with Rees.

Just popping on quickly to say "hi!". Hope everyone who has been sick & their kids are feeling better.

My DH is coming home tonight. He has been in Columbus since Monday on business..hey Kate & Amy how close is Columbus to you guys??? Maybe I'll have to come out with him someday & I can make a road trip to the cheesecake factory to meet you all.

My DS Daniel's 7th birthday is Sunday. He is going to his first Mets baseball game & is so thrilled. He's a huge-o Met fan not sure if you remember my halloween (MNSSHP) pictures from October but he was a Met player for halloween. Anyway, we submitted a request to the stadium to announce his birthday & put his face on the jumbo-tron thingy. He doesn't know about this but he's going to be so excited when they do it. Kids 12 & under get to run the bases after the game. He also doesn't know that either...can't wait to see the look on his face when we go.

Hope all is well with my fellow DDA's.

OMG!! You are not going to believe this! Here's a story of how small our world is!!!!

After TeresaJoy posted about seeing Kate, I sent her a pm when I saw that she was from Michigan. I told her I was from the U.P. and asked where she was from. She sent a nice note back saying where she lived, that her husband had attended Michigan Tech in the UP and where did I live in the UP. I sent another one saying that Chuck & I had met at Michigan Tech and the years that we were there. She sent another note saying that her husband was there at the same time. What a small world, she says! She went on to say that he used to hang out with Bob & Liz x, Dave y, Chuck & Vicki z. Imagine my surprise when I opened the pm and saw my name in the middle of her post. I couldn't read it fast enough.

This is our long lost buddy & his wife. We attended their wedding. I just asked Bob a couple of months ago if he had their address because I wanted to start sending Christmas cards again and their last one came back. He didn't have it. I just got off the phone with him and he is excited that I've found them too.

Bob & Liz were our neighbors in married student housing when we first got married. Dave, Bob & her DH were best buddies. Chuck was a grad student and worked a lot of evenings & Liz was a nurse that worked nights. I can't tell you how much time we all spent together over those first two years of my marriage. We hung out all the time. After we moved to Holland MI, they all met there to hang out one year. We got together for their wedding and Dave's wedding. These were very close friends. I'm so excited to have made contact with them again. I can't believe I did it through the DDA.

Can you tell I'm like this right now????!!!!!! :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

Wow! Is there an eyes popping out of your head smilie?? That's AMAZING!!!!

Go the DDA for bringing old friends together again :cool1: :goodvibes

I am working on leaving the girls, I am just a freak mom who thinks I am theONLY one who can/will do the best for my girls. AND I don't trust people these days. I almost would have a PI check out babysitters, but I don't have the money for it. :teeth: I know this will pass as time goes on, but as for now I will tap my mom and pay her gas to drive an hour for me. :thumbsup2

I know how you feel. That's one of the reasons we moved to our current location. Here in Alpine, we have tons of family. 3 of Alan's siblings and their families live here. That gives us aunts and uncles and tons of cousins. As we've gotten to know people here, there are now several girls that I trust to sit my kids. Still, when we go out of town without the kids, I prefer to leave them with family rather than have a sitter stay in the house with them.

Trust me, though, it's worth it to get some good sitters. You and your hubby need to have some time away from the kids to maintain your relationship. Alan and I have date night once a week (another thing Flylady suggests). Sometimes we go to movies or bowling. Sometimes we go to dinner. Sometimes we go shopping, or sometimes we just go to a park and talk. It's very good for us. We reconnect as a couple and it is so nice.

Guess what I get the Stupid Award for today. Earlier today I was cleaning the gunk of packing tape off a pair of scissors and cut my thumb.

A little PD for Davis please. He vomited in the middle of dinner (twice- very fun) and is running a 104 fever now. He's missing his class meet at the park tomorrow am now. He's pretty miserable. I just ran down to finally eat some dinner and then I'm headed back to check on him. John's watching Piglet's Big Movie with him right now.

:grouphug: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: hope Davis is feeling better :wizard:

I thought I was the only one who still had their wisdom teeth. My dentist says I need to get them out as the older you get the harder the recovery is. Yikes! Not something to look forward to.
I have the two on the left side as they are fine -the two on the right were problematic so I had them out... 12 months apart... local anesthetic - a bit uncomfortable while he was pulling them but not too bad... dozy that day and a bit sore when the anesthetic wore off... but otherwise I was fine :goodvibes

Kate, I think that is a wonderful idea. I need a link or address to make a donation.

Ouch!!! Hope it heals ok! I've done that with my sewing shears. I was cleaning lint off them and sliced my thumb. Had to have a few stitches. Boy did I feel dumb! Although, I think my mother takes the cake. When my sister and I were little, mom was taking us to see a movie. All the way to the theater she was telling us how important it was to keep our fingers away from car doors as they could be really hurt if a door slammed on them. When we got to the theater, we all climbed out of the car, and mom slammed the door..........on her thumb. She opened the door, pulled her mangled thumb out of the door, with tears running down her face, she said, "See, see how much that hurts?!" To her credit, she still went to the movie and held her thumb in a cup of ice the whole time. What a mom!

Thanks amy--its good to know that this is the easiest!

You were a speech teacher? so let me ask you,,,,would "informing" about cruise vacations be a good topic

I think it's a great topic! Just be careful to keep it informative, rather than "this is how you book a cruise" speech (I'm sure you'll have to do a demonstrative speech eventually ;) ).

Also make sure you find out if your professor wants you to use a certain number of references to write your speech.

Have fun with it! I miss my speech classes (sometimes :teeth: )!

Amy :)

Oops Double post -

although I will chime in on the GC - if I could afford a decent GC for 5 different teachers - I would be all over that - WAY easier than what I did - I am looking forward to the days when they will each only need one or two gifts!

I'd start saving now for all the high school teachers they're going to have! :teeth:

Amy :)

Thank you Glynis.

Your poor mom, :yay: for her still going to the movies.

My mom slamed a car door and caught my sister's thumb, doctor had to shove the nail back into place and than stich it. It took and she kept the nail, but now it is real thick and hard and...... well ugly.

And here's some :wizard: for your knee too... I'll hope for number 3 :wizard:

Sounds like the 2 of you had a lot of fun at the zoo. We have a new Australian building at our aquarium that just opened up last fall. The Maryland zoo though leaves a lot to be desired. Thankfully the National Zoo is close enough to visit. Make sure you take it easy today!

I'll try to take it easy! ;)

We have annual passes to our local aquarium too. Alyssa loves looking at animals as much as I do. :goodvibes

Amy :)
