Good Morning, DDA. What's everyone going to do today?

Read a textbook!

But we're at least grilling out for dinner, and will maybe play a quick game of volleyball or bocce or something unless it's too humid to breathe again! :goodvibes

What are your plans?

And if you had asked what we were doing this week, I'd have said FLYING TO FLORIDA!  (notice the banana-dance with no sarcastic smiley ;) )

Can you tell that that's a much happier thought? Too bad it doesn't really do me any good with the things at hand... but it makes for a brighter morning while I procrastinate :teeth:

one of my good friends is coming over and were planning on relaxing by the pool all day! Its supposed to be 89 degrees, so it will definitely be pool weather.
I also need to put the finishing touches on my speech and practice that a few times so i get more comfortable doing it.
Its so nice not having classes all day today so i figured its time to be a bum :)

We are relaxing at home after our weekend camping trip. My DH had to work this morning so we came home after dinner last night. Everyone else is packing up this morning and driving back. It is only about 1hr away so it wasn't that bad. I decided about two weeks ago to camp with everyone so the campsites were full and I had to settle for a tent on my mom's site. It is hard to go back to sleeping in a tent when you are used to your pop-up camper with air conditioning. I told my husband to "slap some sense" into me if I ever suggested camping without our pop-up again. We will probably go out and swim later but right now I just feel like relaxing.

Is your exam before or after your trip?

Well, I've made the mistake of getting an eBay and paypal account. I've already won three. Luckily, it has only cost me $17 so far. I also have 4 open bids. They are either for Pal Mickey or gifts (wanted to make sure you know that I'm not adding clutter to my house! :lmao: )

I really need to get down and work on my office some more today. I had hoped to have it done by this week-end but didn't get down there at all.

Congratultions Dr. Kyle. Jennifer you both look great. I hope you are feeling better today.

Clare I love the short red hair cut, it is so cute. From what I recall the seaside towns over there were so nice looking. They are different from here as we have boardwalks and the shops are on them and the picnic tables and things are further away to. Instead of the shops and tables and things being right on the beach.

Since Kristin was working at Kenmore today, Kathrin and I went down and had a tour of the plantation. It is being completely restored inside and it was fascinating to see all the work being done on the plaster.

For those of you not familiar with the Fredericksburg area, it is one of the most historic cities in the country. Many former presidents lived here, battles from the Civil War were fought in this area. I could go on and on... Here is a link to the sites about where my Kristin works during her summers:

Hope everyone had a good day - we've been to the seaside :sunny: It's a place called Weston Super Mare - but is known by the locals as Weston Super Mud... because usually the sea is so far out you can only see mud ;)

It was very windy! We walked along the sea front and then played miniature golf {DH beat me AGAIN... I will beat him one day  } then we had chips from the fish and chip shop - which are the tastiest chips :thumbsup2

We were supposed to go to the movies tonight to see Xmen 3 but after all the fresh air I crashed out when we got home and slept for a couple of hours instead! - so we're watching the repeat of the AI final and playing a board game.

I took some pictures to show you what the seaside looks like:
...
Oh and while I'm posting - here's a very dodgy photo of me with my short hair {standing near my front door ;) }
...
{This is one of the unfinished areas of the house as neither the living room door nor the frame have been painted!}

Your hair looks cute, Clare! I like it.

Is a fruit machine like an arcade/video game?

So here was the highlight of my day. I'm pretty proud of my Dr. DH! :teeth:

I was kind of coming down with something but I think the heat is just making me feel even worse! And it isn't even summer yet! :confused3 I hardly even touched my food at lunch, so hopefully it will make for good leftovers :guilty:

I'm off to read and then maybe sleep.... have a good evening!

Hope you are feeling better soon Jennifer.

We got up this morning and went to my Parents and helped uncover their pool. It is a lovely shade of green and some frogs were calling it home. Hopefully it will be ready to swim in in a few days. It took a couple of hours to pressure wash the crud off the winter cover and get it dried, folded and put away. Deb

That used to be my favorite part of opening the pool. We would spread our winter cover on a small hill and my sisters and I would spend the afternoon with a hose, scrub brushes and some soap sliding everywhere and cleaning the cover. It was so much fun!

Cleaning. I didn't manage to get much done on Saturday. So, now I have to get busy cleaning up for my family next weekend. I'm excited though because we decided that when they are here we are going to spend a few days the next weekend in NYC. I have been wanting to visit and get pictures at Ellis Island for a family history scrapbook I eventually want to do for Phil's family as all of his Dad's parents, aunts and uncles imigrated from Greece around 1910-15.

Yesterday was fun though! Terra and I spent part of the day at the science museum including about half an hour in the butterful garden. Then we went to a Street Performer Festival and, of course, watched her favorite juggler. (There are two street performers in the area that Terra just LOVES. If the even hears their voices as we walk through the market area, we have to stop and find them.)

I hope everyone else has a day more exciting than mine!

Thanks :goodvibes

Here's a picture of a fruit machine:

You put money in to play - could be from 5p up to 25p per go depending on how much you can win. You then press the button and have to get the fruit in a row (like a slot machine in Vegas) only difference is certain numbers of fruit take you to the "game" on the upright part of the machine. You press the button to spin the number and go round the board, you play lots of mini games on it to win different amounts of money... usually you feed it money though and never win anything :rotfl2:

Thought I would show you pictures of "Barbie World" since it is so slow today. When the girls were little, I got tired of Barbies everywhere in my house. I talked Chuck into helping me build a half wall 12x12 area with shelves on the walls in the basement and we named it "Barbie World". Barbies and accessories were only allowed in this area. The girls set up different rooms on the shelves and spent many happy hours playing with Barbie & friends. A few years ago when they had stopped playing with them, we wanted to reclaim that area of the basement. The girls absolutely, positively would not let me box them up. We have a small area in the corner of the basement which will some day (maybe) be Chuck's sauna (plumbing is set) but until then it was just an empty space. So, Barbie World was moved there. Here is a sampling of the "rooms" in Barbie World. The American Girls have also moved out of the girls rooms and now share Barbie World (including their couches, beds, etc.). Mind you, this is maybe 1/3 of the whole area that is setup.

You all were quiet tonight!!

We watched Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants(read the book too!!) tonight after going and finding some new work clothes for me and shorts for Jim. I was so mad at the selection (or the lack thereof) for me. I did buy some airwalks for myself. The red, white and blue ones...my first crocs or fake ones. I will have to find some magical place to find new work clothes anyone of Pooh size have any favorite stores?

Theresa, I like to get jackets from Roaman's (not a store - they're online or catalog). They have many colors and are of good quality. The sizing is true, and best of all, they don't think because you are a little larger around you also have arms as long as an orangutan. The prices are good, too. I also like Dress Barn Woman.
