I think I had the longest posting party ever just to get a milestone. :rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao:

Have a good night everyone. I will probably be around this weekend as I am not working. :cool1: Although I still got tons of other things to do.

Janet I know you asked some time back how Chuck E. Cheese was. Sorry, I keep thinking I'll catch up on posts and never do. Anyway, it wasn't that bad. We were the only ones there for about 1 1/2 hours.

:wizard: if you need it and I missed you.

I failed my glucose tolerance test yesterday. I expected it, so no surprise there. They've changed things since I was pregnant with Christopher. I have to go purchase a monitor and see a dietician. Last time I just followed the diabetic diet. She said my numbers weren't that bad, and I didn't have any problems from it with Christopher so I'm hoping for the same again.

I also got to see our princess: again. The tech said she is wild! We got a cute shot of her face, her feet, and more proof she's a girl.

We'll be hanging around here for the holiday weekend. I have lots to do around the house. I hope all of you traveling have safe and fun getaways!
I had to do the moniter and dietician thing. They still have you follow the diet but they want you monitering your blood levels, they even checked my levels every so often during labor and they will test the baby after she's born. :wizard: I hope the rest of your pregnancy goes smoothly. I loved seeing the ultrasounds, there little feet etc. Glad you got to see the little princess: again.

Need some suggestions. My girlfriend is pregnant with her 2nd girl and her mom has asked me to throw her a shower. I did for her first and my girlfriend has thrown my bridal and 2nd baby shower.

Dana doesn't need anything big as she has kept everything from her first. And she has kept all of her clothes as well. I want to keep it simple but really don't know what to do. I am thinking along the lines asking everyone to bring a casserole or meal that can be frozen for them to use after the baby comes. My other girlfriend, Amy, thinks that is crazy as Dana will expect gifts. Now Amy has no kids and I think that after Molly came I would have much rather had dinners than all the clothes I did get. Gimme your ideas please!!
Since she's having a second child of the same sex I think meals is a great idea. Another one I've seen is a picture theme. People bought gift cards to a local portrait studio, cute baby picture frames, a baby picture album, scrapbooking stuff, etc. I thought that was neat as I loved having pics taken of my little ones. :cloud9: Another theme is pampering the new mother, spa gift certificates or ones for a local masseuse(sp?) a pretty bathrobe, nursing nightgowns or reg. if not nursing, bath stuff, candles etc. I have seen tons of non-traditional baby showers as a lot of people having a second or third just don't need a ton of baby stuff. Hope it helps. :confused3

How about having everyone bring a package of diapers and wipes. She will use so many over the years that the baby is in them. Suggest various sizes as she won't need too many newborn and will probably need a lot of size 4 and 5s. If she plans to bottle feed and knows the brand of formula that would be another useful gift. Disposable bottle liners add up quickly or new nipples for old bottles. Even if it is a second baby she'll want some new items and I'm sure that there is new equipment out there that wasn't available when the first was born. I had 3 boys and exersaucers were introduced before my second, my first swing died to I needed a new one, had to get a double stroller (have a few people chip in). Before the 3rd they came out with the portable swing and I needed a new double stroller as we wore the first one out.

I'm sure that you can think of a lot of items that she will really need and would love to not have to spend the money on.

Good luck.

Deb
If she nurses, the best gift I got was a Medela breastpump. :) I used it a lot to help my milk supply and so DH could take a few midnight feedings. :goodvibes

Well I managed to drag my sorry butt out of bed at 6:30 this morning. That is no small feat as I am not a morning person. I got the kids to school with their big project and spent about an hour checking out the different science fair projects. I was impressed that the only duplicate projects were the erupting volcano and the mouse maze all the others were unique. It was so much fun having the kids explain what they did. They each stood their just waiting for someone to check their experiment out. Hunter was really having a good time. I forgot my camera, but Hunter told me not to worry, he would set it up at home so that I could get some good photos. I think I will video tape him talking about it. I have my fingers crossed that Nick's Vermont project/presentation goes well this afternoon. He seemed pretty excited about it this morning. As excited as a 10 year old boy gets about schoolwork.

I've even managed to get Hunter's room picked up and vacuumed. I am going to let him do the surface cleaning when he gets home. Now work on Nick's room.

Deb
Glad their projects got done and turned out good, Hopefully your family will have some relax time this week-end. :goodvibes

When I scheduled my test with so little time, I made a study schedule. I figured out that I would have to read about 150 pages of my review text a day, to get through it by this weekend (no sense in reading really in the last few days, I'm not going to retain any of that). Along with that, I'm doing 3 practice tests ranging from 100-200 questions each day, and a few more next week (in lieu of reading).

Well today, I've read 25 pages in about 4 hours! :rolleyes1 I keep getting distracted, or simply not reading. And when I DO read, I can assure you that I'm not really reading anything so much as "reading it" (eyes skimming the page, or even reading it out loud but it not making it anywhere NEAR my brain!)

I was so proud of the last few days, but today I'm losing it! :sad2: :rotfl:
:wizard: I hope tomorrow goes better. Maybe you just needed a break for a little while. :confused3

I will not be going to DC for the DDA meet. I just used my free ticket to get my mom a ticket to fly back here next Sunday for Rees' surgery. She will be staying 3 days with us to help out. Sorry I'll miss the fun, but I'm glad I hadn't booked it yet and could get it for her.
I'm glad that you were able to have your mom come out to help. That will be nice for you and the figs.

Theresa and Vicki, :rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao:

Dawn, Sorry to hear about the glucose test. Sounds like you have what you need to do under control. Take care of yourself and the baby!

Glynis, June, Beth and Julia I know I missed you all but Have fun this weekend.

I am all caught up now.

I went to Emma’s Parent Teacher conference yesterday. I am so proud of her; she is right where she needs to be if not ahead of the game. We are to keep a summer journal to give her chances to write. Pal Mickey will make that fun for her. Her teacher told me that Emma is the only child in the class that she will play a board game with as Emma is the only one who knows that games have rules and that you have to follow them. The best thing I heard was that is able now to solve problems with her classmates by herself. In the beginning of the year she would get easily upset and run to the teacher crying when she had a problem with a friend. Now she is telling them that “I don’t like it when you do that, it makes me upset and please stop” That is a big accomplishment for her!

After the conference Molly and I went to my Parents for dinner. We took Molly to the park and she had her first snowball. Tonight I am going out to dinner with Eric's grandmother, Baba. My FIL flew to Boston this morning as he was able to get out of work today. My MIL works tonight so I think Baba feels sorry for me. I hate cooking and usually Eric does most of it. I will take anyone's pity if it means I don't have to cook.
:cheer2: Kudos for Emma learning to problem solve. That's a great accomplishment at this age.

He gets them a lot during the summer months. When he gets hot and dehydrated, he gets blinding headaches. They are only relieved when he throws up. Then he'll go to sleep for about 12 hours and wake up fine. He has a hard time remembering to wear his hat, take his water bottle everywhere, and to come inside when he gets hot.

I've had to speak to his teacher this year, and have her watch him at recess, etc. I hate to be a worrywart mom, but I know how he is, and unless someone in authority makes him do what he needs to, he won't. He's got Field Day on Wednesday, and I'm a bit worried about that. I know he's going to get hot, and on top of that, he'll be running around quite a bit, which could aggravate his heart murmur. Hopefully, it will be ok. His teacher knows what to watch for, and she's good about doing it, but I worry, ya know?
We didn't know what my problem was until I was 18 or so. My doctor never really thought of migraines being something kids got. And I worry about my oldest at field day, too. As he always forgets his inhaler and all that running around outside(he has a lot of allergies). I don't want him to have an asthma attack and not have anything. Worrying seems to be linked to estrogen or somethin. :confused3 :teeth:

Poor Alyssa. I get home from work tonight and Nicholas comes running out into the garage, before I even get out of the car, telling me he hit Alyssa in the head with the door but it was an accident. I get in the house and she is laying on the couch with and ice bag on her forehead and dried blood on her shirt and pants. She looked so sad and pathetic. My first question is 'does she need stitches'--she's already had them once. No. John and Nicholas explain to me that she was chasing Nicholas into his bedroom and he goes to shut the door, with the edge of it cutting her in the forehead. So she has about a 1/2 inch gash. Our neighbors, husband and wife, both nurses, come over to check her out. He works the skin back into place to form a nice line and gives us some saline and patches her up with those steri-strips that hold the skin together. They give us a supply for about a week and say she will prob not have a scar (I hope not!). So I've pumped her up with Motrin and just put her to bed. I hope she has a good night. Poor Nicholas feels so bad.
:wizard: I hope it heals OK.

Thanks Marci! I talked to them last last night. Hopefully all will go smoothly :thumbsup2

I received the letter concerning Riley & ADHD & it says that he is at high risk. So I guess now I wait till we see the Dr & see what he suggest. I just Want Riley to be able to focus more. I am really worried about him taking medication & what effect it may have on him. I want him to still be his normal self if that makes any sense.
If you want to explore other options there are alternatives to medication for ADHD.
