The DDA Trouble Free Zone Part 4

Theresa, it was really quite easy once it "clicked" in my brain. I put the picture on the scanner, then went to My Pictures where there is a choice to get pictures from scanner. I scanned in the picture, but it was too big for an avatar. I googled "resize digital photos" and found a free trial download (jpegsizer or something like that). I downloaded the software, retrieved the photo and resized it to 100 by 100 pixels. I then went to User CP on this board, clicked edit avatar, and then custom avatar. Click browse, find the resized picture in my pictures, click open, and follow the rest of the directions on the avatar page, and you're done. Sounds harder than it is.

As far as putting pictures into posts, I went to photobucket.com, opened an account, then resized the pictures to post, uploaded them, and followed the simple directions on Photobucket, and voila! New skills.

Good luck and have fun with it! You'll feel great when you master it.

out of curiousity...when does everyone have spring break? we had ours March 27-April 2

That was ours this year. At the last PTO meeting we were told the School board is looking to mess around with the school schedule next year. They better not mess with it too much or they may have @6000 angry high school parents on their hands!!

Wow, the resemblence between aunt & neice is neat. It's amazing how things like this happen. I've always wondered where Julia got her curls. Thanks for sharing.

Although my family does have curls - Julia will be the first to tell you she got them from her Daddy - his hair was just as curly when he was younger - he keeps it short now so you would never know - but he was very stylin' in the 70's!!!!!!!!!!

I just wanted to take this time to thank my DDA friends for listening to my ramblings, helping keep me motivated to keep making positive life changes including my weight loss and organizing my office, increasing my Disney obsession including DVC, inspiring me to use my creativity in designing and other areas of my life and just for being there. Now he wants his 21 yr old unemployed by choice DS to stain the deck.
Wants me to spilt the cost to pay him.

I'm sorry you don't charge family.
I find it disrepectfull to even ask to be paid to do something for family.
Sorry I just needed to vent.

At the very least, you shouldn't split the cost. If he wants to pay his son, then that is his choice to do so. However, since he refused free help that you could have offered it is extremely unfair to ask you to help pay for someone else to help.

I was just reading about folk methods for determining baby's sex last night in my Uncle John's Mom's Bathtub Reader. This is what it says:

"When researchers from Johns Hopkins tested the accuracy of folk methods for determining a baby's sex for 104 women, the methods were accurate about 55 percent of the time - the same as random guessing. But there was one puzzling finding. Women who relied on their own dreams and intuition predicted the baby's sex with 71 percent accuracy.

Did mothers possess special insight to help predict the sex of their baby? The question was studied by Dr. Shamas of the University of Arizona. One hundred women were asked to use just their intuition to predict whether they would give birth to a boy or a girl. Mothers predicted gender correctly over 70 percent of the time, well above random chance.

But Mom can't let her personal preferences get in the way. Dr. Shamas's study also found that women who preferred one gender to the other had less successful intuitive abilities. "The point is that there's a big difference between what you want to happen and what your intuition tells you is going to happen," explained the doctor.

Researchers have agreed that mom's surprising ability to predict the sex of her baby through intuition is a phenomenon worth serious study."

Just goes to show what we keep saying on here - you know your kids the best. If this is to be believed, now we know it starts even before they're born.

Interesting thing is that I "knew" that both mine were going to be girls. With the first one, I really didn't care if it was a boy or girl. I wanted a boy with the second one (since I already had a girl) but knew it was going to be a girl. Sounds kind of funny saying it out loud. However, when the doctor announced the sex of the baby, I remember thinking "Yeah, I could have told you that".

With Cassidy I wanted a boy but figured it was a girl....and Cassidy told us we were having a girl with Abi...not messing with a 3 year old . But I also figured we were having a girl. I personally think you need to talk to the older siblings because of the ones I know they have "predicted" correctly 100% of the time. Not what they want to have but what they know you are having.

At last count I have over 25 books. Some are just fluff like Strawberry Shortcake and then I have others that retell the Easter Story. I just go to the bookstore and look at what is being showcased in the Children's section. I'm planning on doing that tomorrow. I'll let you know what I get. Last year I bought "Easter Parade" It's simply the words to the song, all illustrated with a Father Bunny and his daughter. It's so darling, and it has the sheet music to the song at the back of the book. DH and Katie love to sing it together. I wish I could play the piano and video tape them at the same time.

Ahhhh!! How sweet!! I was thinking of going and getting Easter Parade as that is one classic movie we have seen on the big screen. Maybe get both the book & movie...I'll have to go see.

I promised some photos earlier so dh and I took a stroll down memory lane tonight. It was very nice as my parents took all 3 boys for a sleepover at their house tonight. So here goes my little stroll down memory lane with a disney time line:

Here is a photo of us with some large stuffed Mickey and Minnies. It is strange how the characters have changed so much in just 14 years, but then again so have we.

And here was our deluxe honeymoon suite Fort Wilderness. We had very little money at the time and neither of us had been to Disney before. It was just fine and started our Disney obsession. Who'd have thought then that we would buy DVC? I guess we're moving up in the world.

This was our first Disney Vacation as a family. April 1998. Fort Wilderness Cabins that trip. Nick was 2 1/2 and after getting lost at MCO he was put on a leash for our sanity. Hunter was just 6 months on this trip.

Here we are in April 2000. We stayed off site at the Holiday Inn Family Suites which is now the Nicholodeon Suites. It was less than $100/night for 9 of us. Nick was 4 1/2 and Hunter was 2 1/2. Amazing how our family had grown.

Here we are in November 2001. We drove down with our Motor Home and stayed at Fort Wilderness. Most people, including us were afraid to fly at that time. This was right after 9/11 so the parks were pretty slow that year. We were there over Thankgiving and got to do the first MVMCP that year. It was great seeing all the christmas decorations and Osburne Lights.

This photo included our newest family member. This was August 2003. Nick was almost 8, Hunter almost 6 and Colby 9 months. We drove down again, this time with our new travel trailer and stayed at Fort Wilderness. The shirts that all my guys are wearing were ones that I made. I couldn't get enough material to make one for myself, but those shirts got a ton of attention.

Next trip was July 2004. Drove again with our Travel Trailer. Had to get another trip out of those APs. Nick was 8, Hunter was 6 and Colby was 1. Those are one of the T-shirts that I designed prior to meeting you guys

And this is last trip October 2005. We stayed at Pop Century and POFQ. Went to our first MNSSHP and had a wonderful time. Nick was 10, Hunter turned 8 the day we flew home and Colby was almost 3. These are our tie dye Mickey shirts.

Our next trip will be our first trip home. Wow how times have changed.

I loved, LOVED, your trip down memory lane!!! I would love to go that far back but we (lonnnng story) only have one picture from our wedding and didn't have a honeymoon. I really have to learn and get some more techno gadgets!!

I just wanted to say thank you to the DIS and the DDA for fueling my Disney addiction, my Diet Coke addiction, allowing me to have a place to celebrate and cry without being judged, and giving me a home away from home. This is a wonderful group of women and men, and I'm proud to be a DDA! I love you all very much.

Good morning, Deb. I should be getting in the shower and getting ready to go to the "Alps Sweet Shop" a local chocolate shop, but I'm going back and forth between the DIS and other travel planning sites, just getting psyched for my unexpected free dining trip. When my kids were little we used to get their Easter candy from the Alps. Bud always got a chocolate airplane because he loves airplanes (that's what he does for a living now - sells radio controlled airplanes, builds them for people who don't know how, teaches people to build them, test pilots them for those who are scared to try out their new planes after they spend so much time building them, and teaches people how to fly them. It's nice to be able to turn your hobby into your livelihood - it's amazing how much people will pay to have someone else build the plane for them. I think "what kind of a hobby is that if you don't do it yourself" but to each his own). Anyway, getting back to the chocolate. Last year I was in the store for the first time in a long time, and didn't see the planes, so I emailed the shop a couple of weeks ago to inquire about them. They don't make them any more, but they still have the mold, so they custom made one for me in dark chocolate (his favorite now). I thought since I was going to be in VA with him for half of Easter, it would be cool to bring a little of his childhood with me.

What a great thing to be able to earn a living doing what you love!

Hey Denise-How did you make it through the storms last night? I saw GA got hit pretty bad last night. Hope you guys are OK.

It got pretty bad. We had to go to the basement at 4am with the kids cause we had a tornado warning. We're fine, but Marietta and the other side of Alpharetta got hit pretty hard. It's closer to Julia, so I hope she' ok too!
