Amy - keep them coming - I love the pictures! What a nice job you both did on decorating and party planning. Kate was right, you should be a party planner!

Matt's play was so much fun. It was just his class and the play was called "Character Matters" and it featured all characters from fairy tales. The idea behind this musical was to teach the kids its not good to lie, accept responsibility for what you've done and that bricks are the responsible way to build a house! Some of the kids were just like they are in class - but others surprised the heck out of us. The pain in the neck child that has trouble focusing in class was the hit of the play! He was a narrator and his comic timing was impeccable (sorry Amy - I don't have spell check). But my favorite play person was Matthew; and he was adorable!!!! He made sure the other three pigs spoke when they were supposed to and pointed where to stand - he really enjoyed the spotlight quite a bit. We were very proud of him. If we have a good picture, Paul will post it in the am.

No boredom here! Everything looked great. I'm glad that others subscribe to my theory of changing to pajamas in mid-evening so that we're ready for a crashing child at any moment.

It's a great theory, unless your daughter has an explosive diaper...thus, she got changed again before we got home! :rotfl:

And your cakes were awesome! I didn't have the patience to frost with the star tips, like you did! :thumbsup2

The coolest birthday girl in the world...those sunglasses really go with her JoJo pajamas! :rotfl2:

Hope I didn't bore you too much!

not at all! all of the pictures were cute, but the ones with the DDA kiddos (and moms, of course!) were especially fun to see! :teeth:

Okay guys - I am in need of some DDA PD (or just kind reassurances that I will get through things...)

Within the span of 1 week at work, we have seen a 4-person department dwindle to 2, leaving just my director and me. We had to fire an assistant that only had been on the job for 5 weeks because she was just a walking disaster (that was last Tuesday - and was a big relief when all was said and done), and then Friday afternoon my assistant who has been with me for over 2 years closes my door and tells me that she has been enticed literally across the street to another firm to perform a job function that she has never expressed interest in! This is a girl that has professed her love for legal recruiting ad nauseam, has wanted all these opportunities to take charge of things (which I've been giving her), and now has left me high and dry, holding the proverbial bag, with less than 6 weeks remaining before I have to shepherd 28 interns through a 14-week summer clerkship program. I won't bore anyone with the details of what all this entails, but basically (particularly now w/o knowledgeable, seasoned help) I will be working 80+ hours a week as a glorified adult babysitter, while all the time keeping a smile pasted to my face.

I could really just use any prayers that you've got lying around that I can get through this, while also not losing my sanity. This part of my job is also an extreme sacrifice on my DH's part, as he rarely sees me during the summer, and I'm concerned about putting him back in this position again.

Oh My Goodness you poor thing!!! That stressed me out just reading it, I can't imagine how you must feel!!!

:wizard: That you will get through this and the time will pass by quickly!!! Good luck and make sure to try to take time for yourself and DH no matter how hard that may be to do!!!!

Prayers said! I worked through a semi-similar sitation in December; it was a pain. If you ever need to grab a drink to vent send me a PM!

I'm sorry, suddenly I don't remember how to post pictures! :rotfl2: And, I like that picture. At least I didn't take one with you two biting into fried chicken!

Amy :)

Finally caught up - now I can post my great news! I succumbed to the lure of free food and booked a short trip (August 31-September 5 at Pop) and will be taking my granddaughter (17 yesterday) with me. Got all of the ADRs I asked for. I planned this on such a spur of the moment that I may try to change a couple, but so far I have Kona Cafe for breakfast our first morning, LTT for dinner the second night, Chef Mickey's the third night, Prime Time the fourth night and Tony's for lunch on the last day (I already know I'm going to try to change that to CP for a late breakfast instead). Now I need to start watching airfare.

I was going to try to go to the DDA meet in Washington, but I know the DDA will forgive me for choosing Mickey instead (the dollars just won't support both). Can't wait to start making shirts and doing the "real" planning again!

Ok, so here's how the interview went. Thanks, by the way, for all of the good luck wishes! Yes Glynis, now we just wait for an offer! :thumbsup2

So I arrive at our deisgnated meeting place, at 12:35. I'm supposed to be picked up at 12:50, so I sit and wait.

And wait, and wait, and wait. The same lady that screwed with my schedule earlier is supposed to pick me up, and she is apparently going to be a no-show. I'm a bit flustered at this point, because I'm supposed to be at my first interview 10 minutes earlier, and I'm not sure that the lady will volunteer that I was NOT late, she was. :confused3

So eventually I just have the welcome lady call up to the unit and tell them I am just making my own way up. When I get there, the educator says that the secretary lady "just remembered" and went down to get me. Oh, well, that's her loss :rotfl: At least this lady I'm interviewing with knows it wasn't my fault!

So my first interview is with the Educator and 3 staff nurses. It went well, then I went to fill out paperwork with the nurse recruiter and then on to my other 2 interviews. By the last one, the Director of the Neurosurgery/Neuroscience units says she's "heard good things" about me, and this interview goes pretty well too.

SO...... I can't complain about the actual interviews, but I'm trying not to get too excited (yet). It seems that with how freakin' messed up everything has been up to this point, something could go wrong with the background check, references, or anything else along the way. The good part is I should hear within the week!

Well, at least you won't have to wait long. When I interviewed for my first teaching job, I interviewed in early June, right after school had let out. I didn't hear that I got the job until early August. I had all of a week and a half to prepare myself for my first teaching job. Talk about hectic. I got to the school, found my room, and walked into a great big empty!!!! No desks, no books, no supplies, etc. It seems that after the old teacher announced her retirement, the other teachers cleaned out her room. I had to scramble to find stuff for my students. Ugh! Be glad you only have a week to wait!

Tinkaroo. :wizard: Hopefully you'll find some wonderfully talented people to replace those you lost real soon.

Amy. The pictures look great and I can tell you put a lot of time into her party. She may not know how to thank you now, but it will mean so much to her as she gets older. You are an amazing Mom.

After your done w/ the residency does this guarantee you a position on that floor???

Yep! Well, kind of. Sorry if this is confusing

Basically, in the next few days I would (hopefully) get a call offering me that position on the neuro unit. That would be that, and I would "have that position".

But first, I would start with this residency thing (in June or July). Within that time frame, my clincial stuff would be related to the neuro unit, and then I would (theoretically) smoothly transition to working on the floor full-time.

The PERFECT person/family will come along for your home. The house we moved into was on the market for quite a while before we came across the listing, we saw it and it was love at first sight! I'll keep you in my prayers!

Thank you for your kind words! :goodvibes

And thank you, everyone, for all of your encouragement and support! :grouphug:
