Is this at the camp ground?

Yes, we took the boat over from the Contemporary. It was very close to the lake, right by Hoop Dee Doo.

How was the play???

I do have a clear runny nose, so it could very well be allergies. Bleh!

We opened some of Alyssa's new toys, but not the "big" things (like her new kitchen set) since it seems silly to unpack it all, only to have to pack it all up in a couple months. She's loving all her new stuff, that's for sure! :goodvibes

The one young married couple (friend of the family) hasn't contacted us, so that's discouraging. However, another woman I used to work with has expressed interest! I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but this house would be perfect for her and her 4th grade daughter. They're coming over for dinner on Saturday! Our financing did get approved to buy the new house yesterday! :cheer2:

Amy :)

The PERFECT person/family will come along for your home. The house we moved into was on the market for quite a while before we came across the listing, we saw it and it was love at first sight! I'll keep you in my prayers!

My kids teachers used the bed technique. She told them that the head and foot of the bed was the longer lines and the body of the bed was the circles. It makes sense and they are no longer mixing them up (much :teeth: )

So the position I interviewed for is on the Neurosurgery/Neuroscience unit (if you didn't figure that out from my previous post :) ) It's high acuity (very sick) patients, but a range between chronic and acute illness, from infants to adults actually (if it's a "childhood" illness/disease/problem). It's a lot of neurology problems of varying severity (seizures, spina bifida, migraines, epilepsy, organic and/or rare disorders, stroke, etc) and also neurosurgery patients (except for brain tumors, which we would manage temporarily and then they'd be moved to oncology). They say that if you work this unit, you are prepared for anything! :) And they sound like a very cohesive, fun group.... so I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

The RN Residency program is a really unique orientation/training program. The idea of a residency is growing across the country, but still only a few programs utilize it for new grad nurses. It's a 22-week program (although it may change to 18-weeks in the next few days, as they go to planning meetings) and is set up very much like a medical residency.

I would spend some 4-hour days in classes (about 105 hours total), physiology, certain general peds stuff, specific neurology/neurosurg stuff, family care stuff... you know, just everything :rotfl: . The rest of the time (ending up being about 600 hours) is clinical stuff on my unit, and also rotating to the operating room, recovery, outpatient clinics, etc to see every aspect of neurology at Children's. All while being paid my regular RN salary! :thumbsup2

Everything about it sounds great to me, and the benefits, etc are wonderful. BELIEVE ME..... you'll know as soon as possible after I know! :teeth: Thanks again for rooting for me! :cheer2:

Yea, Jennifer! I'm glad things are shaking up - will keep my fingers and toes crossed (and prayers said) for you! :cheer2:

Do you recognize these Disers? :teeth:

I waited for them to swallow their food, before I snapped this picture.

Luckily there was a stage in the Fellowship Hall, just for Julia! I did not encourage her to unbutton her jeans for this picture! :rotfl:

I missed getting a picture of Kyle's performance, but here he is after winning a prize.

Apparently the playdoh (from the treat bags) was a big hit with Nick!

It looks like Carli is either protecting Alyssa from something or holding her back! :rotfl: My sister took this picture, so I really have no idea what they were doing!

Yes, more on the way!

Two of the games: I was really impressed with Kevin's hard work! Unfortunately I did not take "before" pictures, and the tape destroyed some of the "Pin the Nose on JoJo" game.

fordisgoodchicken.jpg

I think Alyssa took one bite of chicken, but this is a good picture of the bib Kevin made her. :goodvibes

More to come...
Amy :)

HOW CUTE!!! I am so jealous. I LOVE your cakes. They are so much better than mine were. It looks like a lot of fun all around.

I'm finally caught up again. I hope that Paul and Amy are feeling better and Denise and the triplets too. :wizard: To all the folks suffering from a bit of lurgy. I hope tomorrow is a better day. Jennifer I hope that everything works out like you hope. It sounds like an amazing opportunity. Matthew I hope that you had a spectacular opening night and kudos to Paul for going. All the ADR and MNSSHP talk is making me soooo jealous. I called CRO today and priced checked the September deal. Our least expensive option was to stay at POR and with a 5 day park hopper with water park it would cost us $2500 without airfare. I can't justify the expense this year :sad2: And amazingly DH is in agreement. We are definately looking forward to our 3 week trip next summer. :teeth: We've already determined a few must do meals.

Deb

Okay, this is the last of them! :thumbsup2

The teacher would have the boys write the word bed at the top of the page they were working on. the line parts of the b and d are the head and footboards and the round parts make up the mattress. Does that make sense?

No boredom here! Everything looked great. I'm glad that others subscribe to my theory of changing to pajamas in mid-evening so that we're ready for a crashing child at any moment.

Kate - Nick looks SOO much older than even a few months ago. He's so grown up now!

Amy;

Great job on posting the pictures!!! Can you give me a tutorial soon?? I need to post a picture of you next time we get together ;) , you know in a flattering pose like mine was!!!!!!

Not bored at all - great pictures. It looks like a good time was had by all.

That sounds wonderful!!! I think that this residency program sounds like a great way for people to be better trained for any aspect of a job!!! What a HUGE challenge, but I'm sure you're up for it!!! I will keep my fingers crossed and sending you lots of :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: & :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: !!! How many people are they choosing for this program???

Well, the program is already offered to me actually, pending an offer. It's about 20-30 people at a time, just based on certain qualifications going into it. They would love for all of their new grads to do it, and I think that is what they are working towards... but the logistics aren't quite there yet. I think a few things help -- the position I'm in requires almost that much orientation to begin with, so it helps as far as their bottom line, I'm sure. They also talked about my getting another degree (microbiology) and the fact that I'm interested in a nurse practitioner tract... but I'm not sure. It's probably a bunch of things, but it sounds really cool! It will certainly help me feel more prepared to be on my own!

Those are all adorable! And yay for Amy learning how to post pictures! ;)

Kate and Julie weren't kidding, everything looks fantastic!

Okay guys - I am in need of some DDA PD (or just kind reassurances that I will get through things...)

Within the span of 1 week at work, we have seen a 4-person department dwindle to 2, leaving just my director and me. We had to fire an assistant that only had been on the job for 5 weeks because she was just a walking disaster (that was last Tuesday - and was a big relief when all was said and done), and then Friday afternoon my assistant who has been with me for over 2 years closes my door and tells me that she has been enticed literally across the street to another firm to perform a job function that she has never expressed interest in! This is a girl that has professed her love for legal recruiting ad nauseam, has wanted all these opportunities to take charge of things (which I've been giving her), and now has left me high and dry, holding the proverbial bag, with less than 6 weeks remaining before I have to shepherd 28 interns through a 14-week summer clerkship program. I won't bore anyone with the details of what all this entails, but basically (particularly now w/o knowledgeable, seasoned help) I will be working 80+ hours a week as a glorified adult babysitter, while all the time keeping a smile pasted to my face.

I could really just use any prayers that you've got lying around that I can get through this, while also not losing my sanity. This part of my job is also an extreme sacrifice on my DH's part, as he rarely sees me during the summer, and I'm concerned about putting him back in this position again.

ETA: And, as inconsequential as it seems, we are also slated to celebrate my Dad's 64th b-day with him in early June at my parents' timeshare in Kauai. I may have to cancel that trip because of all that has happened/is happening, which has upset EVERYONE in my family greatly. I'm not really supposed to take vacation during the summer because of my responsibilities (my director will be in Europe for 2 weeks at the same time!), but when we booked this last summer, it was no question that the 2 assistants could have manned the ship for that week...

I'm having some anger management/pity party issues!!!!
