Our all time favorite way to end EVERY Disney trip - we book Kona Cafe (in the Poly) - we enjoy one of the best breakfasts on property and then take the monorail over to the Magic Kingdom for one last finale. Its the only way we end our trips now.

That is our favorite restaurant for breakfast on our last day too! yummy yummy yummy :)

Have any of you done Mickey's Backyard BBQ? If so...how was it?

It absolutely is! And I also got to hear the Queen's voice when she called my house! I just felt bad to have gotten everyone so worried.

I am now announcing that for most of the month of June I will be gone. That is our biggest month of the year. DH and I are going to DL for the first week, then we'll be home for about 3 days, then we are going to a family reunion at Flaming Gorge (I'll actually wear a bathing suit for the first time in years!), then home for about 2 days, then to my parents home for the remainder of the month while DH works freelance for the Utah Shakespearean Festival. So, you have all been put on notice. Don't panic if you don't hear from me much during June. I promise to try to stay in touch, but I can't guarantee anything!

Utah Shakes! I have a friend that worked for them a couple of summers ago. My degree is in theatre design and I miss getting to do it...I have done very little since graduation. What does he do for Utah Shakes?

 Also, it's nice to meet you! I was wondering who you were when everyone was concerned about you.

On that note. It is so nice how everyone watches out for one another! Its just one big happy family here with the DDA!! :cheer2:

What is everyone's favorite place for breakfast? I am trying to decide what to do for our last morning. Since I don't know when our flight will be I was thinking an early seating (8am) so that we can either hit a park first or head for the airport depending on our ME pick up time.

We did Chef Mickey's our last morning then headed straight to the airport. It was a nice way to say good bye.

So the position I interviewed for is on the Neurosurgery/Neuroscience unit (if you didn't figure that out from my previous post :) ) It's high acuity (very sick) patients, but a range between chronic and acute illness, from infants to adults actually (if it's a "childhood" illness/disease/problem). It's a lot of neurology problems of varying severity (seizures, spina bifida, migraines, epilepsy, organic and/or rare disorders, stroke, etc) and also neurosurgery patients (except for brain tumors, which we would manage temporarily and then they'd be moved to oncology). They say that if you work this unit, you are prepared for anything! :) And they sound like a very cohesive, fun group.... so I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

The RN Residency program is a really unique orientation/training program. The idea of a residency is growing across the country, but still only a few programs utilize it for new grad nurses. It's a 22-week program (although it may change to 18-weeks in the next few days, as they go to planning meetings) and is set up very much like a medical residency.

I would spend some 4-hour days in classes (about 105 hours total), physiology, certain general peds stuff, specific neurology/neurosurg stuff, family care stuff... you know, just everything :rotfl: . The rest of the time (ending up being about 600 hours) is clinical stuff on my unit, and also rotating to the operating room, recovery, outpatient clinics, etc to see every aspect of neurology at Children's. All while being paid my regular RN salary! :thumbsup2

Everything about it sounds great to me, and the benefits, etc are wonderful. BELIEVE ME..... you'll know as soon as possible after I know! :teeth: Thanks again for rooting for me! :cheer2:

We did Mickey's Backyard BBQ 2 years ago and liked it!!!

They take your picture as you go in, just like Hoop De Doo, you can choose to buy it later if you want too.

They food was good, ribs, fried chicken, corn on the cob, hamburgers, and hot dogs, watermelon, and probably another side dish but I am forgetting now and corn bread. Strawberry shortcake for desert-yum!!!

They had some live entertainment, and some line dancing and games for the kids. Mickey, Minnie, Chip & Dale, and Goofy came and all heck breaks loose, this part was very unorganized IMO, kids were just running all over the place and there were no lines at all. It was kind of madness and parents were just letting the kids jump in and take over the characters, it was kind of crazy and most of it was unorganized-again JMO-

It was fun, but I don't think we would go rushing back. It is outside under a shelter area so I would imagine in the summer it would be HOT to say the least!!! It holds a lot of people!!

The highlight for my DH was that the beer and wine are unlimited. He didn't drink all that much but after paying 6$+ for a few beers throughout the week this was like heaven!!! He said it was the best deal on property!!!

Hope this helps!!!

My dad has been out of town for almost two weeks and just got home - the kids were dying to see him so once Julia hit her 24 hour period - we went to meet him for dinner -

I had to run in 2 stores and she begged to go with me - which I reluctantly agreed to -

we went in old navy first and she danced to the music playing the whole way through the store

then she saw a full length mirror and that was it - she stood in front of it admiring herself and wiggling her little hips

I dragged her away from the mirror and headed to TJ Maxx - we walked past the dresses and she begged to try one one - we ended up picking out 12 :sad2: and headed to the dressing room - she puts on the first one - that was an a-line and was REALLY poofy from the bustline down -

my 4 yo looks at me and says - Mom - this won't do - it makes my hips look big - :confused3 it is beside the point that she was absolutely correct but where did she hear this - Hannah Montana - her brother said it last week  We had a whole discussion that she did not need to worry about how her hips looked b/c she was just perfect - I know that this is a very serious issue - but she really doesn't need any more boosting in the self image department!!!!

so then a dress or two later - she belts out the words "if you wanna be my lover..." I was mortified and asked "WHERE DID YOU HEAR THAT SONG?!!?" "Chicken Little"

here I thought I was providing my children nice wholesome programming and that is what she takes away from them!! It is going to be a long 16 years!!!

Oh my goodness Kate, I was cracking up. She is a sweetie...

I just talked to the nicest CM ever! Delano and I spent 30 minutes on the phone tonight and got all of our ADRs set. He was very knowledgeable and a big Disney fan himself. I love having CMs like that who really know what they are talking about. He was full of recommendations and good words on many of our choices. Of course, once TGM comes out with his best days I may end up changing some of those, but I just HAD to get started. So...the plans are:

9/29 - Chef Mickey's (dinner)
9/30 - Le Cellier (dinner)
10/1 - Princess Storybook Breakfast
- Mama Melrose Fantasmic Dinner Package (may drop if we don't end up arriving on 9/29)
10/2 - Crystal Palace (breakfast) - deciding with dinner or maybe both
10/3 - Boma (dinner) - I am so excited to try this!
10/4 - Hollywood & Vine (breakfast) - if they have a new character meal
- Crystal Palace (dinner) - deciding with breakfast or maybe both
10/5 - Liberty Tree Taver (dinner) - we're at 4:20 too Eyorecln
10/6 - 50's Prime Time (dinner)
10/7 - 'Ohana (dinner) - I've been dying to try this one too
10/8 - Kona - thanks for the recommendation Marti!

Hmmmm...maybe since I ended up with two Crystal Palaces I'll drop the dinner and do Whispering Canyon after all! Plus, there is that little detail of having more meals than credits, but we'll see. If my grandma goes then we'll end up splitting some meals anyway so the credits will go further.

Alrighty, I am off to email Disney about the wonderful CM they have in Delano and then I am off to bed.

I second Kona!!! Of course, it also helps that I can get a mimosa there! :thumbsup2

We also love CM for breakfast, as well as Boma.

We actually like Boma and Kona for ANY meal. YUMMY!

I will keep my fingers crossed and sending you lots of :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: & :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: !!! How many people are they choosing for this program???

Okay everybody I remember seeing a while back some suggestions for kids mixing up lower case b's and d's. Carli is having a really hard time w/ this and getting really frustrated!!! Could you guys give me some help w/ little tricks for helping her remember which is which??? Thanks!!!

My kids teachers used the bed technique. She told them that the head and foot of the bed was the longer lines and the body of the bed was the circles. It makes sense and they are no longer mixing them up (much :teeth: )

And now since I'm such a picture-posting-expert, I will post some birthday party pictures! :teeth:

The dessert table...cookies, cake, and cupcakes.

A close-up picture of the three ring circus.

Two of the games: I was really impressed with Kevin's hard work! Unfortunately I did not take "before" pictures, and the tape destroyed some of the "Pin the Nose on JoJo" game.

I think Alyssa took one bite of chicken, but this is a good picture of the bib Kevin made her. :goodvibes

More to come...

Great job on your ADR's, they are making me HUNGRY!!! We loved WCC, it was really fun, and those nacho's were to die for!!! Good luck w/ the rest of your plans!!!!

That is so cute! I will have to remember to work on that. I wonder if my DDIL will mind if I keep saying DISNEY to her belly.... It's never too soon to start.

I sure did... Everytime I saw her, I told her belly we were going to Disney:love:   And it was so cute, when my grandson was delivered, my son held him and told him that his crazy grandma just couldn't wait to take him to Disney. So it was one of the first words he heard..

At the preschool where I used to work, we taught the kids that the letters b and d were formed out of two shapes - a circle, which we called the "dog" and a line, which we called the "bone". To make the letter b, you draw the bone first, because bone starts with b, then you add the "dog". To make the letter d, you draw the dog first (starts with d) and then the bone. Apply the same concept to seeing a written b or d - does it have a bone or a dog at the beginning? Hope that makes sense!!! Good luck!!! :goodvibes
