My husband was a hard sell on the DVC too, but when we went on our first trip home in Januaray.....he started talking about adding on points. :rotfl2:
He's hooked now. :lmao: Yeah for me.

DH and I have been planning many vacations that we are putting together for the next 9 months and we are discussing the Christmas trip a lot. We have had such great luck renting DVC points in the past (and are doing it again for the October trip) that we are kicking around the idea of doing it yet again for Christmas. We also like the option of having Christmas dinner in our room since nothing we have ever done at WDW has ever felt "right" to us.

OKW is a location we have never tried so we started looking at the accommodations there and like the fact that they are bigger than the other DVC resorts and they have a full-sized dining table. Then I looked at the size of a 1BR villa... it is 1016 square feet. The cottage on our honeymoon was #1016, our first apartment was at 1016 William Street, our room number on our trip to Acapulco was 1016 and I am now posting on page 1016 of the DDA thread. doo doo doo doo

Looks like I need to post a request for points on the DVC Rent board in the near future :rolleyes1

If that's a sign - I don't know what is! :rotfl:

I wouldn't mind helping to sew something, but I'm terrible at coming up with ideas. I used to make halloween costumes for my kids when they were little, from patterns though, not from my imagination...

Let me know if you want me to help out, I don't have any little ones to sew for anymore, so I actually would enjoy it.

All I can say is - WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Amy & Kevin - sounds like the party was a great success! Just look at the rave reviews of your guests!

I hope you have some time to RELAX today - sounds like you deserve it!

Sounds like a plan, and like you're coming at it from the right angle! :thumbsup2 At first when I began broaching it, Jonathan didn't even want to talk about it. (We'd always assumed we'd do it someday - had never looked into the price of it though - but figured we couldn't afford to do it right now.) When I finally convinced him to sit down and hear me out, he was a bit amazed, as was I, to see that our initial investment (I'm sure we'll add-on points in the future) was really not as much as we'd anticipated when the F&F deal was going on. Heck, if we'd bought this time last year, we'd probably be over halfway there to paying the whole thing off with the $$ we spent on accomodations alone this past year!

I think when you want to go multiple times in a year (or if your family is so large that you'd need 2 rooms), DVC is a no-brainer, IMO.

And even though I've been whining about how we probably won't be back until late 2007, I do still have over 50 points of my "freebie" 2005 points to use. As DH said to me as I was crying leaving the MK, "you don't honestly think that we won't be back before then, do you?!"

When we left Disney, Chuck didn't sound like he was interested in going back again any time soon. We were watching a special this morning about cruises. He brought up that we ate well at Disney and that we didn't eat much at POR this year. Obviously, he is still thinking about Disney himself.

I brought up that when we stay at SSR in December, they have a neat place to eat. He said that he needed numbers. He wrote out what he wants to see for numbers. I was already half way there with the spreadsheet. He has some other things he wants to see but is ready to discuss it. I'm so excited.

I have the same thing with the number 62. Graduated in 1962, married in 1962, lived at 62 South Gate Drive for 30 years, phone number was 462-4662, etc. Keeps popping up in small ways all the time.

Our DD19 is this way with the number 314. It has followed her for years and usually portends something good. Interesting how we find these things, isn't it?

Those are adorable! Maybe with the DDA's help we can get picked for the parade! Where do we need to be to be "seen"? And, the kids have the Hercules costume, red/blue/pink Power Rangers, and Buzz Lightyear costumes from Disney.

Maybe Buzz, Woody, Jesse (BK), Mr and Mrs Potato Head or me as Bo Peep?

Yes! Oh I'm torn between Mrs Potato head and Bo Peep...But that's a great idea :thumbsup2

Cooler weather could also be a pro, just so long as it is not COLD weather.

We have gone to WDW for 10 Christmases now and have always stayed a week or more. Last year Bob and the girls (especially the girls) indicated that they would like to go to WDW but for less nights. I am OK with this as I am aware that somewhere out there we can find other places to spend time and money on Christmas vacations.

(I know that this is blasphemy and I hesitate to say it too loudly)

That being said... we have pretty much decided to drive from Virginia this trip and when we leave WDW we will go to Savannah, GA or Charleston, SC. We have never been to either place and have all expressed interest in both those cities in the past.

Do any of my DDA friends have any thoughts on either of these two beautiful localities for 3-4 days in late December? Who am I kidding... of COURSE you will have opinions! :rotfl:

Kristine - perhaps you could organize another DDA trip to take advantage of the free dining. I'm sure there would be many of us who are unable to go on this trip that might like to do a September one. Or even both trips!;)

I was actually thinking that it was the perfect kind of day to do that, but figured that everyone and their brother would have thought that way too...

Thanks for watching out for me!

Can't help you on this one, Elin. I've been through both of them but don't really know what there is to do/see there. Good luck!
