I spoke with Rees specialist today who is very well known in Atlanta. She said she'd be happy to write a letter "excusing" the kids from school to go on the trip and cite all of Rees' issues, why low crowds are necessary, and treat it like a MAW trip (BTW, which he actually qualifies for but we turned down so a more needy family could go).

So, it looks like we're going in September. concierge is putting all my ADR requests in tomorrow. I'm psyched!
That is so great Denise. Just think how much closer your trip is now!! I am expecting some sort of halloween sig in the next day or two. ;)

A child missing 5 days is not going to lower scores, if they have had another 180 days of school, it is all BS!!! :teeth:
Especially since yours have been in preschool and are probably already ahead of the game.

Maybe I'll mention to Bill that I would like another baby...after he picks himself off the floor he would probably try talking me into going to WDW instead!! :rotfl2:

My DH wanted another baby and then I said I would rather he got another toy - he now has a hummer sitting in the drive - still wondering what I got out that deal!!!! :rotfl:

I'm hoping that they will count it as excused with a Doctor's letter from the Marcus Institute. If not, maybe I shouldn't sign the letter at the beginning of the year either. I am planning on being upfront with their teahers from day one, and if the school system has a problem with it even with a letter, than I am not going to worry about it.

I never signed the letter and they sent another one home which I never signed either, my sister also never signed and they sent home 2 more saying she had to sign so she wrote on it 'signed under durress' and signed it. Even not signing it the social worker called and DH told them we went on a family trip and that was that. DD starts middle school this year so we are not taking them to Alaska as they would miss 2 weeks of school - they are not happy but MIL will be here as well as my parents.
With a note from the Dr they cannot do anything!!!

Denise-what state are you in? Is Kindergarten even mandatory? It isn't in Masachusetts.

Lizzy's first grade teacher has been great. I asked her about Lizzy missing a few more days for a birthday trip and she said to do it. I talked to her a few weeks later and told her I planned to do a photo journal at Epcot with picture of Lizzy at each country....and she said "don't forget to have fun too". I'm sure it will get harder to miss school and I'm thinking if I do our big (7-8) night family trip in August I'll be free to take Lizzy for a quick trip if the opportunity pops up. I really enjoyed my August trip last year. Look at this photo of a nearly empty Fantasy Land from Dumbo. I took this picture at 9:53 am. It was great to have no crowds. I didn't think the heat was too bad. I'm hoping we weren't just "lucky" and that if we go this year it will be unbearable.

Not at all. We just told them when we were seated we would be paying for the kids meals and use the DDP for us. We never had any trouble at all.

Very interesting...such decisions.

I am so lame...I have been looking around my house to see if I could come up with stuff to sell on ebay so that I could go in the fall too!! :teeth:

I've been doing the same thing! I have a list in my mind of things for ebay and a yard sale and am wondering how much I could get for it all. :teeth:

You're not lame! I've been trying to think of "creative financing" to be able to go, but I'm drawing a blank. Hadn't thought of eBay though ;)

It's a lot to try and sell for me to come up with $3000... :confused3

My understanding is the tag fairy tags are in color. The ones in black are by the poster. Sometimes the tag fairy will change the color of a posters individual note when they add a fairy tag.

Hey Kristine, did you notice that you are at 500 posts now! A personal milestone for you.

I thought not, but I couldn't remember. Bring on the tag fairy. Come out and play wherever you are.
