I saw a study today where they watched the recovery of people from heart surgery and found that those who had someone praying for them did not have a better rate of recovery and actually seemed to have more complications

who would do a study like that and say it proves prayer didn't work?!?! Did they compare the ages and suffering - did they take into account that people might have prayed for peace for them and in some cases that means death?!?!

I think people do studies and present the data in whatever way best suits thier purposes!!

Well, I believe whole-heartedly that prayers works and that miracles are VERY real. But let's look at this.... a scientific study on something that intangible? You're right -- even if they DID take all that other stuff into consideration (which they probably didn't) how does that compare to prayer? How do you plot that out and factor the different variables against one another?!

This is NOT the kind of research I give any thought to :rotfl:

Kate, that's probably because they want to get involved in other people's business, even though it matters nothing to them. They gotta share their "opinion" with someone, anyone who will listen to them.

believe me = when you have a baby - everyone knows more than you do!!!

I don't think it's ever "blamed" on anything like that. When there are obvious parent-child issues, they can usually attribute it so something a lot more obvious than the mentioned issues. It's just that they do research on all sorts of stuff. And medicine nowadays is considered "evidence based". They implement strategies based on research to initiate standards that appear to be the best for the most people across the board. Obviously every situation is different, and good hospitals (and staff) take that into account.

I know but sometimes it seems people just try to blame things on the simplest of things. Normally they don't know much of anything on the subject and try to come up with a reason for it, even though it is nowhere near the true reason.

Well, and some people know more than you even if you aren't having a baby! There are just people like that period. Maybe THAT should have been my 'characteristic' that I don't like! It drives me NUTS!

Oh no! I agreed with Kate that it would wake me up. In fact, I got a shower about an hour before so that I COULD wake up. I just thought maybe it had a different effect on you :confused3

I have met Dr. Kaufman. He is always named one of the "top doctors in Cincinnati" :)

No, we aren't realted to him :rolleyes1 :rotfl:

Is Kaufman your last name or something?? I'm confused :confused3 !!!

We sought second opinions at John's Hopkins and I was no more impressed w/ them than UC!!!

He is a gret Doc, but he has the personality of a fish!!! You would think that after you see someone almost everyday for two years they would start to warm up!!! Hopefully he really isn't related to you!!!

Yes it is our last name :) And no, as far as personality, he's as unrelated as it gets! You're absolutely right about that!

ETA: He's not related in ANY way, not just "as far as personality" :rotfl: Not as far as anything!

Jennifer here is my take on the whole bonding with your kid crap:

both of my kids spent the first night of their lives in the nursery - I had c-sections which is why they took Julia and then I asked them to with Nick -

I did not breast feed (I can't)

and I am about as bonded with my kids as a mom can be -

so I never buy into those arguments!!!!!!!

My recovery so that I could take care of them far outweighed a need to bond - have you ever heard someone say - I hate my mom b/c she put me in the nursery at the hospital!! :confused3 :rotfl2:

I agree 100%, I sent both of my kids to the nursey too!!! There is no way that after you have a c-section you are up to taking care of a baby all night, just a few hours after major surgery!!!

Whew thats a relief!!!!

Good night, I am going to bed now.

Becky

Ok, the laptop is about dead, and just in time. I have 13 minutes to get ready for bed and take my Benedryl ..... hopefully I'll be sleeping all day tomorrow, but I highly doubt it. I'll see you all at some point! Have a good day :teeth:

ok I'm way back on page 947 and only here for 5 minutes so I've not read a post since yesterday tea time.

I just wanted to let you all know - if you don't already - that Glynis is safe and well! She took an unexpected trip to her mom's house to look after her while her dad went overseas. She said to tell you all that she misses you and will be back bright and early on Monday morning to catch up :goodvibes:

Now I'm back to bed as I still have the "lurgy"

It's one of the things we miss here but still get some cream soda powder for milk sent over and there were some thing I bought while in the UK to bring back that we don't get here.

It's a pity it costs sooo much to send food parcels or we could all just trade, i could send over orange squash and cadbury chocoloate and you could all send me grilled cheese and pancakes from IHOP... although I don't think they'd survive the flight :teeth:

Seriously though - if you ever want me to send anything I can go find stuff for you - just beware the heavier it is the more they demand for postage :goodvibes

Clare- Are you feeling better yet? Or are you still a bit lurgy? (did I use that correctly?)

Nearly - I still have the lurgy :goodvibes

Still feeling yucky - was trying to sleep but my tummy was rumbling too much so I came down for breakfast! Got a doc's appt this afternoon - although they'll probably just tell me it's a cold...

I know she thinks it is commando -

seriously though if she thinks that is commando - she should see a normal week for us there!!!!! :lmao:

I thought we all agreed on the plan based on our wants - but we certainly don't all have to do the same things!!!

shoot - I have been known to make all four parks in one day!!!

I had a nightmare last night that we were in Florida and after 4 days we'd not been to a single park and that we wouldn't have time to fit everything in before we came home! I woke up in a cold sweat... I'm not going for another 7 months but maybe I should write a plan just to calm my nerves :rotfl:

Okay - someone asked for a signature and I did this!! I know you all think I can do anything but this was the hardest animated gif I have ever done!!

cheryltink.gif

I didn't think it would be as easy as it was!!!

I just knew you'd rise to that challenge and nail it - and see you made a beautiful one for yourself too - watch out you'll now have loads of requests for sigs as well as tee designs :goodvibes

so speaking of my West Chester princess who could work at WDW - I told her this last week (she knows that Belle can be at WDW ALL the time - b/c sometimes she and Beast want to go out to dinner ;) )

I said she would be a good helper for snow white - here was our conversation:

J: I am NOT going to work at WDW when I am older - I am going to just go every day and ride the rides and see the shows

Me: How are you going to pay for that?

J: you and daddy can just give me money each day before I go

Me: No - you will have to get a job and make your own money

J: (with tears welling up in her eyes) I don't ever want to work mommy - I always want to be with you!!

Me: everyone has to work -if you don't want a job - you better marry someone who will be able to support you to be a SAHM

J: I don't want to get married - I just want to stay with you - I KNOW - I will just work on the computer like you do

Me: You do know I don't get paid for that

J: YOU DON'T?!?!?! That's okay - we can always make t-shirt designs together!!! I love you Mommy!!

and now she has decided working on the computer will be her job - just like mommy!!! :rolleyes1

Adorable conversation! You may want to save that transcript for when she's 13. :rotfl:

Rees is up with me. I hope he doesn't have Strep. He says his throat hurts, but he's not running a temp. We're watching a Pooh video. Tomorrow is the last day of school before Spring Break, and I really need to work after missing last week for the funeral. May be a long night! BTW, he likes "the cone".

Hope Rees is feeling better today!
