Paula - sending you prayers :wizard: & :grouphug:!!!

Teresa - thanks for the EE photo tip - DDA trippers - you need to do that!!

Jen - CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! :cheer2: You should be very proud of yourself -that is a great hospital!! You didn't say if you turned them down so you could go to WDW!! ;)

Naah, I had a moment of responsibility :rotfl:

I figure I'll get through the residency program then I'll have exact dates for Kyle's vacation to work with. I haven't cancelled the trip yet, but I'm thinking I will end up having to.

It's ok though.... you can't buy DVC without any money, you know :)

Kate, so glad you got good news at the doctor. Now be a good girl and do all of your therapy. You don't want to have to tie dye a leg brace to match your shoes and shirt for the Segway. :earseek: :rotfl2:

Although it WOULD be one more place for a transfer! :rotfl:

I hope your doctor's appointment went well Kate!

Denise, I'm glad Rees is starting to perk up, but I hope you and BK feel better soon!

Marti and Paul, hope you're starting to feel better too!

I hope I didn't miss anyone. Here's a little more :wizard: and :grouphug: just in case I did.

Thanks for all the compliments on our party pictures. I'll try to post some of our Disney trip later tonight.

And can you believe, I threw up again this morning?!! What's up with this late second-trimester nausea?!! I guess I need more sleep and rest...

Amy :)
:wizard: I hope you feel better soon.

ANy of you bakers out there have a good recipe for shortbread cookies??

Here is my grandmother's recipe. I make it every year and give them as gifts at Christmas.

SCOTCH SHORTBREAD

2 c. butter, softened
1 c. extra fine sugar
4 c. sifted flour

Cream butter until light. Add sugar and flour alternately, a little at a time. Mix well (I use my Kitchenaid mixer). The mixture will be rather stiff. Turn into a 9x14-inch flat cake pan (I use a jelly roll pan). Pat with a fork to make as even as possible. Press edges. Puncture with fork, through to the pan, about every 3/4 inch to prevent air bubbles. Bake in 300 degrees F. oven untill light brown. Cut into two-inch squares while hot. Yield: 5 dozen.

Thanks everyone, for the congratulations! It's so nice to come here... you all are as excited as my family! :teeth: It was a very quick response, which was nice :) They are sending the written offer letter tomorrow, so when I get it we can move forward with the house-hunting!!!! That's what I'm most excited about

Yippee Skippy! Congratulations!

OK, I SWEAR I did not read Marti's reply to Jen before I wrote YIPPEE SKIPPY!!

Has anyone seen Howl's Moving Castle? We're finishing it up right now.... it's REALLY cute! :thumbsup2

Kate,

Good thing your Dr. is a Disney fan so he knows how important your May trip is & to get you better fast. Hope the therapy goes well & your knee feels better soon.

Denise,

My vote is for breakfast at CP. If you are there at 8 you will be out before the park opens. You'll get great shots of your family in front of the castle without a crowd there. If you are interested (not sure if you did it last time) but you'll also have a head start to go up to Fantasyland & try to wake Tink. The breakfast food at CP is delish. We have done both several times & dinner is more hectic.

Just enough time for a drive by posting here....

Paula - keep your chin up - you can always come here to vent... heck, its cheaper than a shrink :teeth:

To all my other buddies - still feeling lousy and will be turning in early tonight. Good news on Paul's MRI - no tear in his shoulder and that means no surgery. He will continue with physical therapy. He still feels lousy too - so we're going to sleep early tonight. I would have said going to bed early tonight - but I know how you people get!!! :teeth:

Later!
Good news for MRI. :wizard: That he feels better soon.

I couldn’t take it anymore and needed a break from the phone so I figured I would read a bit from the DDA.I want to say thank you all so much for the PD and prayers.

Some one give me authorization to slap my MIL!!! She is so on drugs!!!!!

First she didn’t want to go to MI because she wanted to wait for Easter break (she is a teachers assistant at a Catholic preschool) and its $200.00 cheaper if she waits 14 days to buy her ticket. (ARE YOU KIDDING ME!) Did she miss the fact that her daughter has a tumor and things don’t sound all that good. DH said it doesn’t surprise him, because we only live 2 ½ hours way and she doesn’t come to visit our girls but maybe MAYBE once a year.

We just got info that SIL in MI is not having the tumor taken out today; the surgery is for a shunt to relieve the pressure on the bladder and spine.

Everyone has asked her to come home so we can all see her and help take care of her. She said NO because she thinks everyone should come out to her and take care of her at her house. (Oh the Drama) I know she is drugged up, but is she crazy! Get real!!!! Oh, yes everyone will take time off work and spend lots of money to go to her house and take care of her. Please! She doesn’t have full custody of her two children and the fathers (yes that was plural) are being very nice about things right now. She could very well ask for special permission to bring the kids to California for a while during her recovery (if recovery is an option). I would think the courts and the fathers would agree to that.

Calgone take me away!

So I have to tell you all that I am crying while I write this, because I can’t get over what wonderful people you all. I only have a few good friends in town (in the military your friends always move away) and they are out of town right now. But you all have taken me in and befriended me and you give a rats ____(insert work for donkey) and we have never met in person. Thank you doesn’t seem to be enough, but it’s all I have for now.

Ugh, have to vent...

I ordered my Narnia DVD's from Disneyshopping.com to get the 20.00 Gift Card with prepurchase; I got one for me and one for my sister's birthday this Friday. Yesterday I came home from work to find, well, no DVD's. I checked my email for the tracking number and put it in, and it was for a package that was delivered to Fort Lauderdale, Florida on March 1st...odd. Then I see an email with my "20.00 Gift Card"...I open it thinking it is telling me that the GC was shipped seperate from the Movies, but no, its a coupon code for 20.00 off a purchase before 4-17, and there was only one even though I ordered 2 copies of the DVD. So, I call and talk to a guy that tells me that USPS forgot to recycle their tracking numbers, um, okay, and that if my second "gift card" doesn't show up by tomorrow at 5:30 to call back. I then ask why it is a coupon code and not an actual GC and he says he doesn't know but people have been calling to ask all day.

So, I decide to email the guest relations departarment about this and get a response this afternoon that says that the GC is one per person, not one per pre-order like it has been in the past and that if I don't recieve my DVD's in 10 WORKING DAYS to call back. Now I'm angry; before I even ordered the DVD's I called to inquire about the GC's since one is a gift and was told I would get 2 of them, and they was told yesterday that I would get the second one also. I call and get told that it was misinformed and there is nothing they can do about it so I asked to speak with a supervisor. Wil, the supervisor, was kind enough to sort it all out for me and is sending me the second 20.00 GC by snail mail and an additional 10.00 one for the inconvenience.

Anyway, it all worked out but the frusterating thing is that I could have gotten it at work for cheaper and still got the poster, but no GC's and not paid 11.00 shipping. I really wanted the Gift Card though, I had planned to use it at my Disney Store for Disney Dollars for my trip in June and now I can't. Plus, I wouldn't have had to wait a week and a half to get my DVD's, although Wil told me it should be here by Friday.

Apparently they have had LOTS of calls about the gift card and shipping issues this go-around...

Thanks for letting me vent!

I was really impressed with Kevin's efforts!

I bought a JoJo coloring book and he scanned the two pictures at a really big size (sorry, I don't know the exact dimensions, but you can see, they're pretty big). Then he colored them and printed them, using multiple sheets of paper, that he had to put together, piece by piece. He said the circle picture of JoJo was easier to piece together than the cut-out of the JoJo, Croaky, and Goliath.

He used sticker paper for the three characters, which looked pretty seamless, but he ran out, so he had to use photo paper for the circle JoJo. He used double-sided tape to attach that to the tri-board, but if you look closely, you can see the seams.

I hope that makes sense. Even though Party City now carries JoJo plates, napkins, etc., there was very little out there in terms of decor. Luckily, I have a creative husband! :goodvibes

Amy :)

Thanks for sharing. It doesn't sound easy at all. I'll have to start thinking about DD1's 2nd birthday party, but it is still 8 months away, so I'll have PLENTY of time to think about it. I think Minnie is her favorite Disney character right now, so this might be.

Woohoo! I already did the Flylady task today. I try to get it done before I start Dis'ing or doing my homework. That way, I know that at least one thing will get done around my house during the day.

We've made a game out of the 27 fling boogie around our house. Mid-afternoon I put on some peppy music (right now it's Forever Plaid) and give the kids a bag. We set the timer for one minute and everyone runs around the house picking up as much stuff to throw away as we can. Then we fling our bags into the garbage can. The music makes us all want to dance, so we are dancing our way to a cleaner house. On weekends, we do the same thing with the weekly cleaning chores. I've got them written on 3X5 cards and I put them face down on the kitchen table. When the music starts the kids pick a card and do the chore. We dance our way through it, and then grab another card. We've found we can tidy our house in about an hour, and then we have the rest of Saturday to play. It sounds kind of stupid, I know, but it works for our family, and I don't have to scream like a banshee to get my kids to help out anymore! Yay! I always hated that!
I've been fluttering with Flylady for about a 1 1/2 years. I just don't seem to stick to the routines very well. I love your idea about the music and cards. I've been looking for a way to get Christopher more involved in the chores and I'm going to use your card idea. He can't read yet, but I can print pictures on them. Thanks for the idea!

Chanon, welcome back!

Jennifer, congratulations!

Kate, sounds like you have a good doctor!

Paul, good news on the MRI...here's hoping you and Marti feel better soon.

Lindsay and Paula, more pixie dust!

Hope I didn't miss anyone!
Amy :)

A while back, some of you requested to see some of Alyssa's autograph book pages, and now that I'm a photo posting expert, I can finally share them!

I bought a 10 inch by 7 inch sketchbook that was supposed to have 70 pages but only had 66 for some reason. Anyway, we made a list of what characters to include, and we found pictures of the characters from our past trips and cropped ourselves out. Then Kevin sized them to fit on each page, and we printed them on sticker paper along with "Happy 2nd Birthday Alyssa" stickers.

I'll post some of my favorite autographs from this past trip.

brerbearautofordis.jpg

I was impressed he wrote so much, considering what a big bear he is (awkward to hold the marker, I'm sure!).

balooautofordis.jpg

Another big bear...one of Alyssa's favorites. I love what he wrote!

auroraautofordis.jpg

Aurora was the first princess we saw, and I really thought more princesses would write "Happy Birthday" since they're face characters, but alas, she was the only one who wrote a special message.

terkautofordis.jpg

Terk is always so excited to see her picture! I love her signing style, because it makes the letters nice and bold.

suzyperlaautofordis.jpg

Nothing too special about this page, but I wanted to show that we did combine some characters that we knew we would find together. Suzy and Perla were also very excited to see their pictures!

Marti- did you get anything in the mail today?:confused3

Nothing yet- I'd have let you know that right away!!!! Our town is famous for snail mail (except the airmail from Clare - go figure!)

I think God gives us mothers-in-law so that we can appreciate OTHER people in our lives. Here's a :grouphug: from the DDA.
