Kate, so glad you got good news at the doctor. Now be a good girl and do all of your therapy. You don't want to have to tie dye a leg brace to match your shoes and shirt for the Segway. :earseek: :rotfl2:

You know and I was out mailing your shoes today and this is what I come home to?!?!? :confused3

Kristine and Clare - I sent yours out too!!

Can't wait to get them...I need to be more color coordinated. I had on blue jeans, a pink shirt...and when I ran out, I slipped on the green crocs. When I got to the store and saw myself on the tv monitor :scared1: :scared1: ...did not look good! :teeth:

Just enough time for a drive by posting here....

Paula - keep your chin up - you can always come here to vent... heck, its cheaper than a shrink :teeth:

To all my other buddies - still feeling lousy and will be turning in early tonight. Good news on Paul's MRI - no tear in his shoulder and that means no surgery. He will continue with physical therapy. He still feels lousy too - so we're going to sleep early tonight. I would have said going to bed early tonight - but I know how you people get!!! :teeth:

Later!

Hooray for no surgery! However, I'm sorry that you both still have the lurgy! Feel better soon!

I couldn’t take it anymore and needed a break from the phone so I figured I would read a bit from the DDA.I want to say thank you all so much for the PD and prayers.

Some one give me authorization to slap my MIL!!! She is so on drugs!!!!!

First she didn’t want to go to MI because she wanted to wait for Easter break (she is a teachers assistant at a Catholic preschool) and its $200.00 cheaper if she waits 14 days to buy her ticket. (ARE YOU KIDDING ME!) Did she miss the fact that her daughter has a tumor and things don’t sound all that good. DH said it doesn’t surprise him, because we only live 2 ½ hours way and she doesn’t come to visit our girls but maybe MAYBE once a year.

We just got info that SIL in MI is not having the tumor taken out today; the surgery is for a shunt to relieve the pressure on the bladder and spine.

Everyone has asked her to come home so we can all see her and help take care of her. She said NO because she thinks everyone should come out to her and take care of her at her house. (Oh the Drama) I know she is drugged up, but is she crazy! Get real!!!! Oh, yes everyone will take time off work and spend lots of money to go to her house and take care of her. Please! She doesn’t have full custody of her two children and the fathers (yes that was plural) are being very nice about things right now. She could very well ask for special permission to bring the kids to California for a while during her recovery (if recovery is an option). I would think the courts and the fathers would agree to that.

Calgone take me away!

So I have to tell you all that I am crying while I write this, because I can’t get over what wonderful people you all. I only have a few good friends in town (in the military your friends always move away) and they are out of town right now. But you all have taken me in and befriended me and you give a rats ____(insert work for donkey) and we have never met in person. Thank you doesn’t seem to be enough, but it’s all I have for now.

Calgon take Paula away!! The poor girl needs a weeklong Calgon bath!!!
Just come to us anytime and vent!!

How cute!! Kate and/or Glynis, are either of you going to Goofy's Kitchen when you at DL?!?!

It's a possibility. We're not taking our kids, so if it was just the 2 of us, we wouldn't, but we're taking another couple with us who have never been, so we might do it with them!

The last few times we've gone to DL, we've done Ariel's Grotto instead of Goofy's Kitchen. It's a lot less crowded, and the food is yummy!

It's just that we have missed your cheerful disposition and queenly ways the past 2 days. :teeth:

Thanks for the shoes. I can't wait to get them. Let me know what I owe you and I'll paypal it.

This is what is wrong with my knee: Patellar subluxation

The kneecap is designed to fit in the center of this groove, and slide evenly within the groove--this is called patellar tracking. In some patients, the kneecap is pulled towards the outside of the knee.

patients who experience an unstable kneecap have a patella that does not track evenly within its groove on the femur.

So I have to have physical therapy for the next four weeks - twice in the office and then a rigorous home routine - which he said will be pretty extensive and be ongoing

He said my knee buckles b/c my muscles decide they are sick of working so hard so they just shut down. I need to be particularly careful on steps as it is common to happen on steps and he doesn't want me to fall

No knee brace yet but I told him I was going to WDW for an all-girls trip at the end of May

now for the BEST part: he is a Disney fan and promised he would have me ready to go!!!

he said if my knee doesn't seem better at my next appt we will think about a brace for the trip

and he said it isn't a problem that they treat with surgery unless nothing else works after a long period of time!!

Kate,

I have this in both of my knees and have had to have surgery on both. I would get a volleyball knee brace for when you go out shopping and what not. They have thin metal stays on the sides and an open circle direcly above your knee cap which helps hold it in place and move correctly. It really helps me whenever I go out for extended periods of time.

If I ever make it to UT I will look you up. Thank you for the offer.
I will also open my doors to you all if you ever find yourself in the Napa/ Sacramento area.

Promise? I'll hold you to it!!!!! I'll even up the anty....my DH is a fantastic Dutch Oven cook. We'll host a cookout with Dutch oven chicken and potatoes and to top it all off either a chocolate cherry cobbler, or peach cobbler. Any takers?

Tammi-

I forgot to post this until just now!!! The Build a Bear's are SOOOOOO cute that are on sale at US Toys and come with two outfits...they are build a bear size and I would say close to quality also. Only problem I see is the outfits are all the same but for $9 whose complaining?

KristinN,

Try baby oil to get the dye off; thats what we use in theatre to remove nasty stage makeup and paint from skin and it works like a charm, it also gets easter egg dye off of skin.

Marci,

Another pale freckly girl with tanning problems! A friend just recommended the new Jergens body lotion that has a tanner in it. It doesn't get splotchy and is really just a normal skin moisturizer with a little tint. After a week she really noticed a difference and it looks completely natural. I'm gonna give that a try!

I've been thinking about trying it, too. I want some color before heading to California in June. I'm just leary of self-tanners, as I tend to go neon orange. Yikes!

Yeah, I didn't think you'd leave us in suspense this long. Is all ok?

I hope you don't get offended by this, but my poodle has the same problem. The vet called it a "luxating patella." He offered to fix it with a knee replacement that would cost around 2000.00. I love my dog, but not that much!

I'm glad that yours can be fixed with therapy and not a knee replacement! And congrats on finding a doctor that is as hooked on Disney as you are. At least you know he has his priorities in order, right?

I hear you! I'm breaking in my red crocs, and was just planning on being at the house today. Had to run to the store, and was just finishing up when I realized that I'm wearing a bright purple shirt with fire engine red crocs. Oops!

Thanks, I will check them out. I was thinking of just taking Alyssa to the Build a Bear store on her birthday and let her pick out one and make it.
