The DDA Trouble Free Zone Part 30

I was just pricing out some rack rate packages so I will be able to evaluate whatever deals come my way. Will somebody please talk me out of the Deluxe Dining? I keep thinking how NICE it would be to have all of our food paid for up front and not have to worry about it. $70 per person, per day for 3 meals, 2 snacks, and a refillable mugs. Booking through AAA would save us $480 off the cost of the room if we can't get a Bounce Back or some other deal. The problem is DS doesn't eat $70 worth of food in a day. Heck, even when he was on the child's DDP he barely ate $10 worth of food in a day!:rotfl: Well, maybe that's not true. He probably eats $30-$35 worth of food each day if we go to dinner at a TS with a menu. If we do buffets it doesn't matter that he doesn't eat because we still pay the adult price. Hmm.
Elizabeth, if you didn't think $38 was a steal for the dining plan, how on earth are you going to justify $70?!?! :) Do you think you would be able to eat 3 meals a day? Or have the time? I'm good with one meal and a snack, since they give you so much food.

I have the same situation...I love the thought of the deluxe plan...not having to worry about anything...but my kids are such poor eaters.

The only restaurant my girls were poor eaters was the Rose & Crown....that has become our no need to go back restaurant.

I am waiting to pass judgement on the changes until somebody actually uses it next year and gives a review.

Deb- Can you post a picture of the Halloween fabric? Please

The biggest thing is that tomorrow is my second anniversary of my gastric bypass surgery. In the past 2 years I've lost 100 pounds, and kept off 96 of it. I'm celebrating that!
That is monumental!!! Congratulations and Happy Anniversary!

Let me know what they get in, Garrett is wanting a JS winter hat. I bought him one last year & it is nowhere to be found :sad2: I am looking for fleece hoodies for the boys & myself as well. Do you feel like my personal shopper :rotfl:

Have a good day at work!

I have seen JS hats at Hot Topic and/or Spencers.

Glad that you are feeling better!

Alan has to work until 7:00 tomorrow, so I will stay home and hand out candy, while Katie and Jacob take the twins trick or treating. We live on a circle, so they have plenty of houses to visit without leaving our neighborhood. Once Alan comes home, he'll take them to his siblings houses and I'll stay home.

I'm going to make "finger" sandwiches with tomato (blood) soup for dinner beforehand. I'm going to flatten a breadstick and lay ham and cheese on top. Then I'll top it with another flattened breadstick. Pinch them together and bake them. I'll paint a green fingernail on one end and call it good. At least they'll eat before they start the annual candy gorge!

Tonight we'll be doing our pumpkins, too. Alan does the carving with the kids. I take the pictures, and roast the pumpkin seeds. I don't like the pumpkin goop! My kids do, though, so they'll have a good time.

Congrats Glynis.:woohoo: :woohoo: :dance3:

Ooh, that's one of our favorites! I'm sorry you had a bad experience there!

Thanks for the comments everyone! You'll never know how much your support has helped me out the last 2 years!

Theresa how goes the job search?

Thanks for the reminder...I have to email my resume out to a few promising jobs tonight.

I would covet good thoughts at 8 AM (my time) on Thursday as I am meeting with the head of SPRC and my boss to break the news to him that I am leaving.

I guess because we eat 3 meals a day. With the basic DDP we had to still pay for one meal each day OOP, and we usually each had more than one snack. $70 per day for DH & me is a good deal - for DS, not so much. We didn't save a TON of money with the old plan, but I didn't dislike the plan. I think we would have come out better this year having the AP discount on the room instead of "free" dining. For some reason there is tremendous appeal in having it all paid for (except tip) ahead of time. Which is what Disney is counting on. The other thing to consider is that DS might start to eat, which would change the dynamics of everything! I guess the reason I like the Deluxe plan is because for OOP we budget $50 per person, per day. But that's eating 2 CS and a TS. If we wanted to do a buffet breakfast and a signature dinner it would run more than $70 per person if DS orders from the adult menu. If we wanted to do a buffet breakfast, a CS lunch, and a TS dinner it would be close to $70 if DS orders from the adult menu. I don't think we would save a ton on the plan, I just like having it. What gets me is whether we would save ENOUGH on the plan to skip the AP room discount. If the AP discount is $70 per night, and the AAA discount is $45ish then by doing a AAA package I am "forfeiting" $25 per day on the room discount. So if we save AT LEAST $25 per day on the dining plan we break even. Or don't we? Because of the tip? Anyone? I need to mock up a sample day with room and food costs and see which is cheaper.

That is monumental!!! Congratulations and Happy Anniversary!

Congrats, Glynis!!:cheer2:

In case anyone doesn't have Rees CarePage here's the update from today.

Hi, everyone. He had a good day so far!!! He even was able to make it to the skills assessment for winter basketball and both boys did well. Biggest news is that the surgery has been moved to FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 2nd, to allow for more surgical time. I do not have a surgery time yet, so I will post it as soon as I hear.

We are going to carve the pumpkin in a few minutes and enjoy a meal that another one of our wonderful friends has generously provided. Oh, and we got to "Boo" one of our neighbors (hi, Michelle, Daniel, Mary, and Ralph!) today which the kids thought was hilarious.

Have a great night and a super, fun-filled Halloween tomorrow!

Wellll...

In my sample day it appears that the AP room discount and DDE card would be $75 cheaper than deluxe DDP in a AAA package.:scared1: That's a buffet breakfast, 2 snacks, and dinner at Citrico's ordering from the adult menu for DS. Yikes! I can't believe there is that much difference! That's $675 MORE for the DDP over the span of 9 nights. Now I did add in one day base tickets for the 3 of us and pro-rated the cost over the 9 nights, which raised the daily cost of the DDP package by $25 total. But if we take the tickets out of the equation the DDP is still $50 more for my sample day. And the 30% off deluxe room bounce back is a better discount than AP, so if I can get that I would be way ahead.

Thank you! I am hoping when we go in Dec. we might luck out & find a hat for Garrett at the parks. Last year I bought it online through Disney Shopping.

I will be on the lookout for ya!
