The DDA Trouble Free Zone Part 30

I managed to throw together 5 resources for DS's Science Fair research paper. He has to turn in the resource list by tomorrow but the rough draft isn't due for 2 more weeks. The problem is one resource is supposed to be copyrighted within the past year. Hello? Flame resistant fabric isn't really making headlines these days. He might just have to take the loss in points on that.

I think the renewal notice says to give it 5 weeks? The thing is, if you order past a certain date (I think it might be the 5th of the month?) then your expiration is the end of the FOLLOWING month the next year. For example, I want to order Nov. 8, 2007 so my card will expire Dec. 31, 2008. Bernadette knows which date gives you the extra month, I think. I also read on the Restaurants board that there are changes to DDE rumored to be coming in November, so I am a little concerned about that.:scared: If it is just the automatic 18% tip then that's fine, but if they are changing other parts of it I might not be very happy. We have overextended ourselves a bit on the December trip so that 20% discount will be handy.
I was thinking the 6th. I think they will tell you if you order over the phone. My card expires in December. I will need a new one for January but I think I’ll just renew rather than try to get a January date. I would need it by Jan 5th so that might be a bit tight. And I wouldn’t gain too much.

I thought it was too! I even reminded her that I was an Emerald Club member but she said it didn't matter. I really did not like her flip attitude, and if Bob had not been there I probably would have pursued it right then and there.

I have sent an email to Alamo stating my complaints and they have received it. Our $149 full-size car rental went to $249 and I am not happy! I could have done better than that elsewhere, and I told them that.
I had that problem with Alamo too. I haven’t rented a car since that happened.

Here is the link to my costume contest submission. Please take a look and if you like it you could even vote for me :goodvibes

Wouldn't it be nice to win a trip to WDW?
SO cute! I voted for you yesterday. I’ll have to do it again today after I post this!

Oh, my! DH just said an American flight from MCO to DFW was diverted to Houston because some woman tried to open the emergency exit while the plane was IN THE AIR!!!:scared1: :scared:

STUPID WOMAN!:headache: I would have been so mad if I was on that flight! So I wonder if other passengers can sue that woman in civil court for delaying their flight? I would suffer mental anguish if that happened on my plane. Hmm. Personal injury lawyers work on contingency, don't they? Something to keep in mind if I ever have a crazy on my flight! :)
I’m willing to bet that she doesn’t have too many assets.

Our romantic dinner for our Anniversary was Mc Donalds :rotfl: I did not feel like cooking when I got off work & Gary & I can have a nice meal together in Vegas.
Happy Anniversary! I’m sure you’ll have a great trip!

We are planning our March & June trips. I've booked our flights and room at POR for Feb. 29-March 8. We've picked the dates for the June trip - June 6-14. Unfortunately, we'll not be able to be there when Deb & Chris are which is too bad. We will be staying at Pop Century for that trip. I sure hope that Chuck can relax while we are there! :confused3 However, this trip is for my sister & her kids. I'm so looking forward to seeing Disney through the eyes of a 7 & 10 year old. I was there with my family when my sister was around that age. She wants to ride Dumbo again and recreate a picture of the two of us when we were there last time. :cloud9:
I LOVE the Dumbo photo recreation idea!!!

The two times I stayed at Pop we were on the lakeside of the Tramp building in the 50’s section. It was nice and quiet there! I bet Chuck would enjoy the lake and generation bridge. There is a path along the lake with a sign for every year. I’ve yet to go explore that area but I plan to in November!

Today was a busy day. After church we stopped at the grocery store to pick up the few things that I forgot to get yesterday. Then we came home, Bob and his DD came over, and we got busy carving our pumpkins. Nicholas made a wolf, and the girls did a spider. I made Glynis' pot roast for dinner, which got rave reviews. Then kids just now went to bed, since they've had late nights and early mornings this weekend. I can't believe it's back to work already tomorrow.
Great photos!!!

I never posted any of my pics yet so here is a sampling.
LOVED those too!

For those of you that change resorts during your stays (& don't rent a car), how do you get your bags from one to the other? Our June trip is scheduled to start the day after our anniversary. I'm trying to convince Chuck to go a couple of days early so that we can celebrate our actual anniversary at Disney. It would also allow us to spend two days at POR before transferring to Pop for the week with my girls, mom, sister & her kids.
Like others have said Disney will transport your bags. I think staying at POR for your anniversary is a great idea!!!!

My weekend was great, but busy.
Sounds like a great weekend. I’m sure the girls had a great time!

I found this on another forum:

While at Dollar Tree today I ran across some Disney Christmas window clings. They have the Princess', Tinkerbell, Pooh and Friends, and Mickey and Friends.
I’ll have to try the new one near me!

Garrett's birthday is Jan. 3rd. How wrong would I be to let him wear a birthday button the last couple of days at Disney during our Dec. trip? His birthday is 6 days after we leave.
I think it would great!

I say go for it!

I'm wondering the same thing with Nicholas. His bday is the 2nd and we get there on the 9th.
Nick should get one too!

Sorta thought that from your post. To be honest I do not care if I see the show or not, but this is something Gary really wants to do. Hopefully I will be pleasantly surprised. I will let you know what I think.

ummmmmm....

wellll.............

truthfully, it was not my cup of tea. I am not a big cirque fan....but I think I may one of the few people in the world who didn't like it. :)

What grade is he in again, Elizabeth? I know he started MS but what year is that, since MS grades vary.

6th. This will be his 5th time to do Science Fair. But now they use "big kid" rules like I remember from Science Fair when I was in middle school. He has to have a research paper and an abstract (summary of the project) and all sorts of stuff that will make it far more time consuming than it was before.

we are trying a 2 BR in June....

I vowed I would never buy AKL points...but somehow I had a moment of insanity! :) Now I have developers points that will be expiring...I actually booked concierge so I could use all the points

1 br, sleeps 5. My kids and I will be in the br, and Bob and his DD will get the pullouts in the LR.

Eric will enjoy the peace and quiet as tomorrow afternoon he is insuring that I will never have to change my screen name ever again ;)
:wizard:

Here are some birthday photos
Looks like lots of fun!

I think I will get him one, I know he would get a kick out of it! This is the closest to his birthday that we will be at Disney for a while.

Now if I could stand the heat & humidity(the Oct. trip was hot enough for me) Riley & I could maybe sometime celebrate our birthdays together in August at Disney.
I think you should try August. Did Anne Marie think August was much worse than Oct? I find August easier because I am used to the heat at home.

Great pictures, Deb. The pizzas made me hungry. I LOVE pizza!
Emma won’t eat pizza. I hope she outgrows that. I cannot imagine life without pizza.:confused3 ;)

I need to decide which projects to work on tomorrow. I have sewing project cluttering the living room. I need to figure out which pictures need to be printed for our autograph scrapbook and get those sent off. Is Snapfish a good one to use? I also need to pay bills and I need to get my ornaments together and in the mail. I keep telling myself one project at a time, one project at a time :lmao:
I use Kodak Gallery. They are having a 25% coupon code TRICKORTREAT until 11/6 if you spend $30. I’ve been very happy with their quality.

I've always heard if you have three, you should have four. You know, even numbers at Disney. :teeth:

Seriously though, I hope Eric has a quick recovery. :wizard:
NO WAY!!!! At least with 5 you can stay in 1 room in most deluxes and at POR. I don’t need a family of 6.

Ok, those that just stayed at Pop, does it have a curtain between the room and the sinks like POR does? In looking at some recent pictures, it doesn't look like it does. This is a necessity when you have two adult daughters staying with their parents. Any suggestions on what we can do to make one if it doesn't already have one? I think I've seen some suggestions at one point but can't remember. Thanks.
I’ve read about those 3M hooks too.

That's awesome! We saw the 2 BR AKV model in August and it was amazing! Lucky you!!:thumbsup2

I think my kids are going to have a handicap because I never had to do a Science Fair project. Science Fair must not have been invented yet when I was younger. So not only am I a sleepover virgin, I'm a Science Fair virgin as well!

So you did end up buying? That's great! If you needed help using the points, I would have been glad to take them off of your hands. ;)

Bill liked it....I can't remember which other Cirque show we saw in Vegas...but I liked it a little better. KA has a whole story to follow...after a while I couldn't follow it anymore. Like I said...I think I am the only one who didn't like it.

Sorta thought that from your post. To be honest I do not care if I see the show or not, but this is something Gary really wants to do. Hopefully I will be pleasantly surprised. I will let you know what I think.

me either!!

BTW..I blame you...somehow all this sleepover talk caused Kirsten to beg me to let her have one this Friday :scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1:

I hope we like it...I am not quite sold on the location

the whole way over Bill & I chanted "We are not buying...we are not buying" After the presentation, they said if you buy 200 points, you get double developer points...no dues etc etc...Bill was like a kid "I want it" how could I argue. :rotfl:

So you did end up buying? That's great! If you needed help using the points, I would have been glad to take them off of your hands. ;)

My mind is mush, so I'm sending :wizard: and :grouphug: to all.

Tonight it's been me vs. the Rit dye. Lumiere's shirt came out nice and yellow, but the pants are a 50/50 blend, so I'm going to have to buy another bottle at Michaels tomorrow. Hopefully, they'll darken up a bit more.

I also recycled my dalmation skirt and dyed it black, but like an idiot, I had laundry sitting near the sink/water basin, and now several of my clothes, including a favorite jacket, have black spots from where the draining water splattered. I guess I'll be buying some Rit dye color remover and praying that does the trick.

Night DDA!
Best of luck with your Rit issues!

Good Morning DDA. It was a short night here. We watched the whole game and didn't get to bed until about 1 AM. Then Colby woke up and went potty on his own but needed us to put him back to bed. He was dry this morning :cool1:
:woohoo: great job Colby!

My morning is not going at all as planned. I thought I'd have Colby's blanket made by now, but something came up instead
So cool!!!!

I'm so sorry, Theresa!

You'll forgive me if I have to do a little :dance3: :cheer2:

I was really hoping that the Rox would win at least 1. I was going to say 2 so that the Sox could win at home, but then their fans can get a little crazy so maybe winning on the road was a good thing.
They still flipped a truck and set a motor cycle on fire. Sounds more like drunk college kids than true fans!

Bernadette - If you are out and around today in a place that sells newspapers, would you mind picking up a copy of them for me? I'll pay for whatever shipping, cost, etc. I'd love to add them to my collection. Thanks!
So sorry I didn’t see this yesterday BUT….I did find yesterday’s Boston Globe and the Patriot Ledger (south shore) at Stop & Shop tonight. The Ledger actually looks really good. Maybe I should wait to see if there is anything in the Sunday Globe before I mail them off to you.

With talk of free dining, I'm beginning to wonder. If we can pull off a trip next year and have the option of mid-May or whenever free dining (might) happens, which should we do? I'm thinking that weather and crowds probably won't be too different. Will it be worth the savins do you think? How were the codes for values last spring (if anyone went then)?
I would stick with May. I really enjoy the Flower Fest and it might be a bit cooler than September would be.

Wow! This weekend went by in a whirl!!!
Sounds exhausting!

I just bought our airline tickets for Dec., as well as our MVMCP tix!!!!
Congrats! Now it must feel real!

Done with inventory for another month! Garrett & Riley are officially employed now. They started a paper route today. I hope it works out for them, best part most of their stops are on our street. They have both been bothering me about it for a while & I finally gave in. They both want their own route, but for now they will share the one. I told them I will not be doing the route for them, this is their responsibility. Everyday after school & Sat. & Sun. mornings. The weekends is where I think they will tire of it, we shall see!
Hope the boys like their paper route! I had one as a kid. I even won a trip to Washington DC to see President’s Nixon’s inauguration. It was a wonderful experience.

So I had a crazy dream experience this week. We had some family friends from the time I was 8 to 18. We did things with them constantly - dinner, outings, vacations, holidays, etc. If one set of parents was out of town, the kids stayed with the others. It was a woman my dad worked with, her son a year older than me and her live-in boyfriend. Sometime between when Derek graduated high school and I did the next year, the woman and my dad had some kind of falling out (:confused3 ). So I haven't seen Derek in almost 15 years and it's been at least 10 since I ran into his mom anywhere. Last I knew, he went to college in Tennessee and she still lives around here.

Fast forward to the other night, I had this long drawn out dream about running into Derek in present-day. Terra was with me and we were in Boston somewhere as we were on the T (subway) at some point. We were just catching up, etc. So a song we used to sing all the time as kids came on today so I decided to look for Derek on MySpace. I was able to find him easily and where should he happen to live now....just outside of Boston!
Freaky!

Ok, this is absolutely pitiful, but.....

My pictures from May are finally uploaded. :rotfl: Still haven't touched the ones from September :rolleyes1

(Links are in my signature, if anyone is interested)

Goodnight!
Those are great. I really liked your Tink photo-the topiary Tink with you mimicking her pose!!!

Did you see my new ticker? I have booked Club Level at Universal Studios from Oct 14 - 19th 2008. We will do US during the day and MNSSHP one night as well as Downtown Disney. Chris has always wanted to stay at Universal but I have never been willing to give up WDW time. Since we will not have AP for Disney next year I will have to consider MNSSHP a bonus. We would love to catch up with DDA in the evenings for non park activities such as eating :cool1:
COOL!!!

I sure hope you are feeling better Tia!!!

What a day. I pulled myself out of bed, threw on some clothes and went to work to find the $88,000 my financials were off. I sat at my desk with the heating pad to my face. I was in excuriating pain. I found the error, printed my financials, printed my timesheet and came home. I called my doctor every hour to ask for help. The receptionist kept saying someone would call me back.

I got home and put on a pot of chicken soup and called the doctor again. Finally, I drove to the doctor and sat in the waiting room until someone would help me.

The doctor told me to trash the second round of antibiotics, and gave me a script for new antibiotics and steriods.  The nurse even called the pharmacy, so the drugs would be ready as I drove home.

I called my coworker, who has to finish payroll tomorrow. She said, now don't come in, I think you should rest. And I said okay. And she said, really, if I have any questions, I'll just call you. You need to rest, I'll be okay. And I said okay, I'm not arguing with you. So then she told me, you know you really looked terrible today. And I said yeah I know, the patient next to me said, you really look like he ll.

So yes folks. I'm down for the count. My face is so swollen and the pain is still in the 5-6 out of 10 range. I have to put the finishing touches on my budget that I need to present to the committee on Wednesday. So come heck or high water, I will be there on Wednesday.

But tonight, I will get back to bed.
You poor thing! I had to drag myself into the office Sunday with a sinus headache but I’m not that bad.

We had our big budget review Monday so we’re nearly done.

I woke up Sunday morning with a swollen face too. Went to the dentist and got a round of antibiotics to hold me over until my second root canal on Thursday morning. All I could think of was how fortunate that it didn't flare up last week! One thing the dentist told me not to do was to apply heat to my face. She said it could draw the infection out through the cheek and cause scarring. I never knew that.

On a positive note... my 1996 Mazda passed inspection once again. I was so afraid we would be buying at least one new car this month. Keep your fingers crossed that Bob's truck passes both the safety inspection and the emission control inspection this morning.
Good luck with the tooth. Congrats on both cars passing inspection!

Steffy -- I feel your pain.... Until last week, I'd had a sinus infection for 6 weeks... but I'm finally better. I hope you get lots of rest today and feel better! Good luck with the budget!

Our anniversary was yesterday, and we celebrated with a great dinner on Saturday night and a concert. Randy has always loved Willie Nelson (Randy grew up in Austin, the youngest of 5 kids but because his siblings were all much older was basically the only child at home listening to his parents' music of old country...) but I never liked Willie's music -- in fact, always had an aversion to it... But I got tickets for us (Pat Green also played and I like him!) and was glad I did. I had forgotten all the gospel music that Willie plays, and one of the songs was "I'll Fly Away," one of the two songs we sang at Mom's service.
YIKES….6 weeks? Glad you’re better.

Belated Anniversary wishes!

Hi all... Just wanted to pop in and say hi. And to share some pics from today. Molly had her Halloween parade/show at school. They sang the songs they learned in music. It amazes me that they can get her to sit so still and actually listen:rotfl:

PICT0026.jpg

She's being the wind here...
PICT0041a.jpg

We carved the pumpkins as well. Emma hated scooping the guts out but Molly loved it! I think she would have climbed inside to get them all out if I would have let her.

PICT0061a.jpg

Elizabeth- this one's for you!!
PICT0070.jpg

I also had Lucy's pictures done. It was such a challenge to get her hands out of her mouth. And then of course Eric was home all day!! You'd thought he gave birth or something. Big baby. :rotfl: Sometimes I just have to laugh at him. He was walking fine when he didn't think I was looking but the minute he thought I was he got all slow and miserable looking. :sad2:

Well I need to go finish up the Mo's pumpkin. Have a good night all and I will check in tomorrow to see all the cute Halloween pics.

's and :wizard: all around! Night all.

I think my kids are going to have a handicap because I never had to do a Science Fair project. Science Fair must not have been invented yet when I was younger. So not only am I a sleepover virgin, I'm a Science Fair virgin as well!

i never had to do a science fairi project either! dont know how i escaped that one!
