my two and a half year old weighs 24 pounds - I always worry when he gets sick

one thing I have learned is that when I give one of my kids dairy when they don't feel well they tend to throw it right back up - so the vomiting might be a reaction to the dairy

having a sick little one is no fun - sending you pixie dust for a calm night and a better day tomorrow!!

You are right about the dairy. Our pediatrician told us to avoid giving dairy within 24 hours when a child has thrown up. It's just to hard on their systems. Instead, try the BRAT diet, bananas, rice, applesauce, toast. I always keep Rice Krispies on hand to let my kids snack on when they are sick. Works for us!

Prayers for Beth are being said. It's always scary when they are that little. My DS was in the minus 10 percentile for weight up until this year (he's now in the 2nd percentile). I used to worry, but he's pretty healthy, most of the time, and I just boost the calories similar to what you are doing. In fact the doctor told us to put him on an ice cream diet. In other words, let him eat it whenever he wants. My Katie hates that, because she's only allowed ice cream a couple of times a week. Life is so unfair.

Please keep us updated on your daughter. It can be so frightening! I'm also going to pray for you, for peace. It will get better!

My Kyle is the same way. He'll be 3 in June and weighs 28 pounds fully dressed. He is also about 40 inches tall. I can't ever keep pants on him since they slide right off :rotfl: He eats like a horse, but he is in constant motion. Plus Daddy is about 6'4" and 185 pounds soaking wet (Did I mention that he is on a Whopper diet and never seems to gain any weight? :furious: )

:wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: Sending you some back Glynis, it's funny what happens to your brain when you don't use it, I need to excercise mine more often!

That's for sure! It gets worse when you have kids, too. I swear my brain started to turn to mush after my oldest was born. Maybe that's why I'm finding it so hard now.

:rotfl: The plan was to watch it today as it's my day off but I've been busy making chocolate brownies (yum) and catching up on Desperate Housewives... and the DIS!

Well, at least you have your priorities! Eat a brownie for me, ok?

I check out the other threads. However, this is the one I feel most "at home" in. It's nice to see you designing again.

Glynis, when did you get your new tag??????????

Gosh, you scared me! I thought I had moved into the ranks of 2 tags. I got this one a while back, when I announced that DH is ok with the thought of a trip to WDW. I love it! Makes me feel so accepted. Is that just the silliest thing you've ever heard? I guess it's because I spent all my high school days wanting to be part of the "in" crowd, and never quite making it. Now that I have a tag, I feel like I belong. When I got it, I called my hubby in to see it. I was jumping up and down, and crying for joy. I think he thinks I'm nuts!

If it makes you feel any better there are still plenty of us here who are still tagless  Hey tag fairy- don't forget us!!!!!

Out of curiosity - does anyone pay attention to the rest of the board or do you just stick around in here?

I have new designs posted and thought that those of you who don't look outside this thread would like to know -

this is my favorite of my new designs

Yea Deb!!!!!!! Is this your first one??

I think it is the first one on the new thread, but I did get a couple on the old monster thread. It seems that I haven't been around lately when milestones were made. It is quite an honor.

Roll my eyes about that?! I'll just be jealous that you have babies to talk about and miss! :rotfl:

As far as the NCLEX, you got it! It's the national licensing exam. I ... don't think I'm going to study much  We had the HESI assessment exam last week that predicts probability of passing, and I'm comfortable with what I got and how prepared I feel as of now.

That's not to say I won't review. I have two books I'm going to read through, but I don't plan on flipping out about it.

Best of luck with your exams. If you stress anything like DH does for his promotion tests, then all I can say is... May I send you some Sleepytime tea from Celestail Seasonings? DH will drink it a hour or so before bed when he studies.

Kate. I love the new designs. You are so creative. I do check out most of the other threads on this board and if I have time I will check out other forums too. It seems that this board takes up most of my time though.

As far as skinny kids go... Hunter, my middle son, was the chubbiest baby that you ever saw. He was a little budda. The doctor aways told us that is was just air in his tummy. He was always in the negative 10th percentile. He is now 8 1/2 years old, 49 inches tall and weighs a whopping 47 lbs. You can literally see his skeleton through his skin. He is very strong and has great muscle tone. His doctors do not seem at all concerned about his weight. He is my one child that given choices will always make the healthy choice. I'm sure that if he ate the same foods that the other 2 eat he would gain weight too.

Oh I love this show! The other night when I watched it, I picked out which cases I would not choose & they had the million & the half million in them. I could have been a millionaire lol. Like that would ever happen :teeth: I do play the online game during the show, I would settle for 10,000. So far no luck!

Our show only goes up to a quarter of a million (only !!!?? I'd settle for that :teeth: )

I always say I'd not deal for anything less than £30k... no one has won the big prize yet... has anyone one a million over there?

I came home from work tonight to 9 new pages!! I don't have the time to respond to each of you individually, but I did read every post. I know that lots of Congratulations are in order, as well as several prayers :grouphug: and a few jobs well done. Please, if you fit into one of those categories then that comment is for you. :thumbsup2 .

I have a splitting headache. One of the waitresses had on way too much perfume and I think that triggered my headache. So off to bed. Dh and I are celebrating the 19th anniversary of our first date today. Too bad that we only got to spend a couple of hours together due to work. I guess that is a big milestone. .

Deb

Sorry to hear about the headache. I hope it's better today.

Congrats on the 19th anniversary!!! I think DH is such a girl sometimes. I didn't remember the date our "first date" as he calls it. Get real! We where coming back from an exercise (military war game) in Hawaii. I know that doesn’t sound bad, but think of playing war games with chemical suites on for a few days and then getting up at 0300 to get on a plane for home. And no! We did not join the mile high club! I was so tired I couldn’t think straight when we got home. It was the day we decided to start dating. You think I remembered what the DATE was? But he did.

I've been posting like crazy tonight. I'm off to bed now. It is way past my bedtime. I live in Central Time Zone and am usually in bed no later than 10:30 and it is currently 11:47. See you all tomorrow.

I'll be interested to see if you all go on a posting party and I miss post #11000 since we are less than 100 away.

Happy Happy, Joy Joy!!!!

WOw! That is AMAZING I  it!!!

I have to admit it takes enough of my time keeping up with this thread that I hardly ever go out to the rest of the DIS let alone our board!

Still no news on grandpa. Would call, but my mom flew in from NV yesterday, and it's still 5:30am to her.

My cousin, Sabrina, is FINALLY getting married (07/07/07!) after 11 years of dating. I got THE call yesterday. I had set her up with my best friend from high school, and last July he finally asked her. She's already picked out the bridesmaids dresses, with a lovely tea rose (aka mauve) strapless dress. I really don't want to buy a dress for 07, but I'm afraid that it will be discontinued before the end of this year! Maybe I'll be joining the Weight Loss Accountability Thread...
Should be an interesting wedding with height issues! :teeth: ...the groom is 5'3", the bride 5'7"; best man 6'2 and I'm 5'4". :teeth: I'll be a blast though! If anyone is interested here's the dress. (The color she picked is the second from the last.)

I hope everyone's day is wonderful!
~Chanon

While you midwest and east folks are on your second cup of coffee and lunch... the west coast folks are falling out of bed tostart our day.
I do hope that you get good news about your grandpa.

On another note Yeah for Sabrina and I like the dress myself.

That is my son too. He came out huge (9.6) and was so chubby. He started thinning out around age 4, and now he is 6 yrs old and weighs 46 lbs. My mom calls him "bag o' bones." Alyssa, on the other hand, has such a sweet tooth, and is definitely a lot "softer".

Poor baby!! I hope she is better soon! And I second Kate's no dairy when sick.....all Abi wanted when we had food poisoning a month ago was a string cheese....we paid for it!!

This may sound stupid, but I guess I didn't think she was "sick". The fever was gone over 24 hours and she gets runny diapers every so often anyway. The colorful pink floor she gave me is what made me figure out she was sick. I am not a bad mom. just not always very smart.

LOOK at my signature!!!

I created a TAG at Tickertags and they accepted it -

so does anyone want a custom Ticker?!?!

I think I would rather design them without specific wording - but if you have a generic design you want me to make for you - let me know!! It takes a few days to get them approved but how cool is that!!

Kate, the next time DH is gone on a long TDY (military trip) I am going to have you create a customer ticker for me.;)
