Heather - Your new signature pic is cute!:)

I spoke to DS. He had a good day but he has homework from 3 different teachers. DH was stopping at the grocery first, then they were headed home. DS said he told his Social Studies teacher that he has ADD and it is hard for him to write things over and over. He has to write 9 definitions 5 times each. He also said before he switched reading teachers that the teacher gave them classwork that was to draw up MORE of those sheets I printed on the computer for him.:headache: They hadn't used any of the 5 they drew up at home! Not such a big deal now that he isn't in that class, but we have GOT to have our 504 meeting! His modifications are FEDERAL LAW. The teachers don't get to tell him to do these assignments with absolutely no regard for the plan we have in place. He CAN'T spend 3 or 4 hours each night doing homework, and the teachers have no idea what the others have assigned. I don't want him to be able to skate by on things he could do, but they can't ignore his modifications, either.:headache: That's why we have his diagnosis documented. He CAN'T spend 7 hours at school and have 3 or 4 more hours of homework every night. Unacceptable.:sad2:

Kim - I don't think I would like visitors invading my Disney trip. Of course I have 2 friends coming to Disney for our December trip so maybe I should just hush.:rotfl2:

Friends are different than inlaws. ;)

DH said that we'll just have them come up when nothing is planned. Dear Lord. I thought that this man knew me better. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

My MIL was over yesterday and said that she and her DH were going to be in FL for Christmas with DH's grandmother and they wanted to come to WDW to see us. Oh man. This isn't good. :headache:
:scared1: :wizard:

Deb.. October was in the triple digits when we were there in '05 .. Not sure chris is gonna want polo's unles they're VERY light weight ..
When were you there? I think I was there something like the 15th to the 23rd. It was hot. I was there in Oct 04 and also in Oct 02-when I was 6 months pregnant with my third. It was VERY hot then!

Love your new signature!

:scared1: Hope you can get things straightened out quick. Lizzy is painfully slow at homework too but she hasn't had too much yet. She has a cirriculum accomodation plan but didn't qualify as special ed so doesn't have a Individualzied Ed Plan so I don't think hers is really the law. I just don't see how that copying a definition 5 times would really help-I would think it would just get all kids to hate doing school work.

Today was Emma's first day. I haven't spoken to DH yet to see how she did-she was only there about 1 1/2 hours today and tomorrow and then her full 2 1/2 hours Monday to Thursday after that.

Definitely get the 504 in place!!!

My neighbor has a son diagnosed with Asberger's and she just had her 504 with the Jr. High staff. She said it was really frustrating, and it looks like she'll have to go have a one on one with all the teachers, because the meeting was with all 8 of his teachers and some really had no clue about Asberger's.

Elizabeth, Thanks so much .
I really hope that the teachers can get their act's together and things start to settle down. When do they have you coming in for the 504 ? Hopefully they're not stuburn and actually work with him on everything.pixiedust: hang in there 'till the meeting and 'till then, I would just have him do what he can do homework wise and if you need to, send in a note with him telling them that he can't handle all of the work.. either they'll get the idea or you can get some stress out at the meeting. i really hope you can get your meeting set up soon so that he's not totally frustrated and just gives up on it all.

Heather - I haven't called for a meeting yet because I was waiting for them to stop juggling his classes around. He is still working right now. When he finishes what he is working on he has another math assignment, then he has to read and do a little summary. He has been doing homework for just under 2 hours. I tried to call the Dr. this afternoon but they had already turned their phones off. I will call them tomorrow.
I can sympathize with your friend. I am pretty sure the teachers DON'T understand a lot of "differences", and from what I am seeing they just ignore the modifications. They tested DS for Aspergers, even though I told the diagnostician he doesn't have it. He has some behaviors that fall on the autism spectrum, so they wanted to rule it out. Mainly he hyper-focuses on subjects that interest him, and when he gets excited he "flaps" his hands. He also has some sensory issues that he got from me, but they aren't as pronounced as they were when he was younger.

How many October trippers have the tie dye Mickey shirts? I'm thinking that most of us might. If we wanted to do matching shirts that might be an option.

I do not have a tie dye shirt and I do not think that Stephanie has one either.

I would love one but do not have the guts to do one :lmao:

Thanks, Heidi! She seems better now, and no one else is complaining of feeling bad, so I'm cautiously optimistic!

I knew I was forgetting somebody this afternoon....Sorry Glynis!! Hope the spewing ends soon and doesn't travel.

Thanks, Theresa!

By the way, I loved your review of Little Mermaid. It sounds like it was a fun day for you and the girls.

I'm around for a while.

I remember how I felt after school started. I was exhausted for the first few weeks, until I got into a routine.

Last night was a bad night for me. I just felt off, so I went to bed at 8:30 and slept until 1:00. Alan had forgotten to turn the A/C off, and I was freezing. Back to sleep until 3:00. Don't know why I woke up then. Katie had me up for the day by 5:30. I'm starting to drag about now, but I've still got to get the kids in bed and wait until they are asleep before I can go to bed.

I just started a really good book, "No Angel," so I'll get some reading in before I go to bed. I've also done some Christmas shopping this afternoon.

Oh, I forgot! I ordered new checks today! They are Mickey silhouette checks. Alan will flip out, but at least I didn't order the Princess ones, right? Since I'm the one who writes the checks out, he can't really complain, now, can he?
