The DDA Trouble Free Zone Part 29

My second load of laundry is done and I am headed outside to mow the lawn before it gets too hot.

Bob is in PA this weekend. He missed his father's 90th birthday late last month because of a project deadline at work. He had planned to go this weekend anyway, but we are very glad he went.

His Mom had emergency surgery on Thursday. She has had a recurrence of her colon cancer and has to have a section of the colon removed and a colosotmy done. Things are not particularly good on his homefront, so good thoughts winging their way to PA would be most welcome. Thanks.

39 days people! 39 days!

I am exhausted! SEVEN post offices (there were 2 more that we couldn't find) and we found ZERO pins.:headache: Most of the time the people looked at me like I was speaking Swahili. One lady said each PO has to order their own merchandise. A man said I should call and try to order them. He said the pins were something they thought would be auto shipped but it turns out they weren't.:confused3 As far as I can tell there are no pins anywhere in this area.

sorry you had no pin luck, Elizabeth!

I just called the "Stamps by Phone" number that the guy at one PO told me to call. He said if I order from them the pins are $4, the retail prices aren't guaranteed to be uniform the way the prices for actual postal products are. He said I could try this "stamp pin" website, which I did, BUT they don't have Disney stamp pins!:headache:

That sucks. My mother found 8 and I found 5, but I think I may be able to get a couple more once the other 2 post offices figure out that there is a clearance sale. My mom said it reminded her of when we used to go out hunting for beanie babies :rotfl:

My cousin came down and permed my hair and also my mother's. The boys all got cuts. My house really stinks now. I didn't tell Chris that she was coming, but I suspect that he will figure it out as soon as he walks through the door.:rolleyes1

Now I'm off to work. Have a great evening everyone.

Heidi I hope everything is ok with your mom. My Dad has polyps removed every few years, but they have never been cancerous so hopefully she will be as lucky.

a while back my older brother and i were talking about how i should start some type of business. in the back of my mind i have always wanted to open a daycare and work it. well i have decided i am going to start looking in to how to start up a daycare. i want my daycare to be for mentally/physically challenged kids as well as "normal" kids. i kinda wanna start just taking care of kids in my home but thats gonna be a challenge because i physically cant take care of infants-4 year olds on my own. also who would let a physically challenged person take care of their kids. i am capable of taking care of older kids who can help me out some. do you guys have any ideas on how i can start getting some type of clients? people that know me have older kids that dont need watching or have the range that i cant take care of by my self. help help help.

Deb - I know of 2 more PO's that I might try next week. After that I am giving up!:rotfl2: Have a good evening at work!

Karen - I would start by finding the licensing requirements for the state for in-home care. One of the nannies I know did in-home care for awhile and she had to do all sorts of stuff to get her license. (She has gone back to being a nanny now.) I might mention, too, that 5-7 year olds are some of the LEAST cooperative children I have ever seen. Sister tops that list, followed closely by another boy I used to nanny. I had been taking care of him since he was 1, and by the time he was 5 or 6 he had that same crappy attitude Sister had. I think it is an age thing, fueled by parents who allow the attitude/behavior to continue. Are you hoping to do this at your parents' house? My lease prohibits running a daycare from my apartment, so be sure you check before you sign a lease on your own place. Good luck!:)

You know something? I think Princess's grandpa is the postmaster in the town where he lives in Indiana. Perhaps he can help me with my pin search!:scratchin

We haven't been home long. Just ran to WalMart and got a 42" LCD HDtv and wall mount. :cool1: :yay: :dance3: :cheer2:

Thank you, Terry, Bernadette, Theresa, and Deb.

That sounds so cool. We need a new tv as the one we have works only when it wants to and it is only a few years old. Very frustrating

Lot's of :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: on its way!

Boy it's been quiet on here. I came home from work thinking I'd have pages to catch up on, but there isn't even a whole page. Everyone must be busy.

Work was busy early on. I was the hostess and the entire time I was thinking about how much money I could have made had I been waitressing.

We had a busy day. Nicholas' soccer game was at 11. They won 5-0 and Nicholas was so happy that he got a goal. After that it was home for lunch and a little rest. Then all afternoon we were at a cookout. Got home at 8:30 and the kids went straight to bed. They were really tired. I guess the first week of school really did them in.
