So many great pictures today! We should all post comparison pictures of how much our children have grown (and how our families have expanded!) since the DDA started! :goodvibes

Anne Marie, did you read that supposedly your P&P tickets are good for a day's admission, since the weather was so bad the night you went to the party? I think I saw that on the Theme Parks and Attractions board.

Robyn, hope you are feeling better!

Sounds like you had a great weekend Terry...nice pictures too!

Jennifer, hope all goes well with your dietitian and the endocrinologist.

Cute new signature, Janet!

Kim, that's a great cake! I didn't even think to consult Family Fun!

Beth, good luck getting everything ready for next week! I always got comments about how "brave" I was to teach high school, but I think you all who work with large groups of small kids should get bigger praises! (that also goes for Elin, Jen, Jen, Denise, and all you ladies who care for other kids besides your own like Robyn, Tia, Deb, and Elizabeth)!

Heidi, that was a lovely sentiment in memory of June.

My brain's getting fuzzy, and Kevin just hinted I should head to bed soon, so I'll bid you all good night now. Hope everyone has a fantastic Wednesday!

Hi, all! Sorry to pop in for just a post earlier today, but I wanted to post to Elizabeth before the Disney phone lines closed! (Elizabeth, it looks like you might need to go in the "back door" like I did to get the AP discount, but it might not be worth the $17.80 savings to you! :lmao: )

It sounds like it's been a busy few days for everyone! I read off and on throughout the day today, and am caught up. I didn't get on since Friday as I'd planned to!

From what I can remember off the top of my head....

Welcome home, Anne Marie and Bernadette! I've enjoyed the bits and pieces you've shared of your trips so far, as well as the pics! Anne Marie, I can't believe the PD you guys received at the BC! Care to throw a little my way when we check into the YC next week?! ;)

Loved all the 1st Day of School pics! I cannot believe how big some of the DDA kidlets are getting! They're all such gorgeous kids!

Glad to hear everyone had fun Labor Day weekends for the most part!

Deb and Chris - awesome job on the deck! You guys continue to amaze me in all you can accomplish!

Vicki - it's good to see you around again and posting. Yay for found $$ and your plans for March!

Elin - glad to hear you found your love for teaching. I wish I could find the semblance of love for my job so quickly - I'm still searching! ;)

Becky - wow, you're so close - have a great trip! :woohoo:

Stephanie - I hope your DGD will understand why you'll have to miss her first meet. (I'm sure she will!) Keep those Crocs on your feet! :thumbsup2

Terry - glad to hear you had a fun trip!

Jennifer (bear) - good to see you - good luck with your doctor's appts.! Glad to hear Olivia is feeling better.

Robyn - hope you get to feeling better! Love all the pics of Lucy!

Jen - enjoy your 2nd day of teaching tomorrow. Hope a good night's sleep helps! I'm still praying for your grandfather. :grouphug:

Glynis - glad to hear that Alan is home! Hope you get some more sleep!

Heidi - that was a beautiful sentiment you posted in June's memory. I cannot believe it's been a year. :sad1:

Debbie - I know I missed you, but I hope you guys are having a fabulous time at the World!

Elizabeth - did DS forget any homework tonight? ;)

Marci - glad to hear you guys had fun at Sea World! Pics please!

Janet - :woohoo: on a "cheap" car fix!

A big blanket of :grouphug: :wizard: :yay:  to anyone that I inadvertently missed! :flower3:

Oh, and whoever asked about the WL sleigh rides - to my knowledge, they're still not able to be booked! (I tried Friday a.m. at my 90-day mark, and was told they hadn't been loaded into the system yet. Frustrating!)

Well, our trip to Missouri went fairly well. We got to the airport with little worries on Friday (only took about 20 minutes to get through security), and we ate dinner at a TGI Friday's, as our flight was purportedly delayed 45 mins, according to Orbitz and Northwest Airlines, as both kept calling me/e-mailing me with updates. Imagine our surprise when we wandered down to the gate about 10 mins. before our original flight time and they were boarding! Of course, as we were waiting for our 1st Officer who was on another flight, we didn't leave until an hour+ later. :headache:

I had never been to Jonathan's grandmother's before, and it was good to see her and help her celebrate. She is still so with it for 90! She also knitted us a beautiful baby blanket, as she wanted to make sure we had one before she got too old to make it. I told her that my mother must have called her, as everyone is pulling out the big guns! :rotfl: Jonathan's middle brother and my SIL were also there with their brood; we were frustrated for a myriad of reasons that they globbed on to this trip a week prior, but we only ended up having to deal with them for about 7 hours on Saturday, and then they left. We did a lot of general visiting, played Mexican Train, etc. - we were out in the boonies, though! I'm talking no Wal-Mart, no Dairy Queen, literally one stop light in town, boonies! :rotfl: This city girl was ready to high tail it back to civilization come Monday!

And of course, my beloved Longhorns did not help matters by playing like poop on Saturday! We had to rely on the internet connection at our hotel to live through that one! :scared1: I certainly hope we come to play this Saturday!

Well, I need to get to bed as it promises to be another busy one tomorrow. If anyone can spare some PD for my job, I'd appreciate it. Things are a bit topsy turvy right now with the merger discussons and other things going on, and I'm beginning to wonder exactly what the future might hold for me there. I wouldn't be terribly sad to leave that career (it's definitely not something I see myself in for much longer), but I'm just not sure what I want to do in it's place, and if I do change careers, I need to find something with a similar pay scale, which has me worried, too. :guilty:

Good night, DDA!

One of the things that they instituted when Katrina started 5th grade was they handed out assignment books. It was part of the curriculum. The teachers wrote the assignments on the board, the kids had to fill it out every day, and the parents had to sign it once a week. The kids were graded on the assignment book - basically, they just had to have it filled out. It was part of the grade for every class. Let me tell you, it really helped many of the students. It was started because Katrina's class was going into middle school and they were the worst class (as a whole) to come through the school. They made changes when they went into the middle school and they made changes in the high school, the year they went there as well.

He has the planner, which isn't mandatory. And it isn't monitored by the teachers or the parents. I could look at it but I wouldn't know what he left out.:confused3

What a heartwarming story Heather

Heather, I am sorry for your loss.

Glad to hear they had a good 1st day!

Yay for a great first day of school!

I sure hope that isn't true for your sakes.

Deb, good luck with the campsite and DVC details.:wizard:

okay off to bed. I work the next 2 days, then have to see the Dieticain and endocrenologist on Fri. I then work this weekend. I will try to get on fri.

I hope all goes well with your appts!:wizard:

Lindsay - You're right - not worth messing with the ressie for less than $20, especailly since I will cancel it if airfare doesn't cooperate.
DS told me tonight that assignment was actually 10 pages, not 5. I could have dangled him off the balcony by his heels. The story keeps changing. He says he didn't KNOW it was 10 pages, he found that out today. So he ate lunch in the classroom and added 2 more pages (for a total of 7) which gave him an 80 on the assignment. He only had one homework assignment tonight, supposedly. I told him an 80 is scraping by and he in no way did his best. We'll see what his grades look like for the first marking period. DH told him I am going to Disney by myself and he is really upset. If he is going to pull stunts like that he deserves to stay home! :sad2:

Lindsay - Glad the trip went well! How sweet for her to make a baby blanket! I am sure you will treasure it, and one day it will come in handy!
Lots of good wishes for your job!:wizard: I hope things work out with the merger. Or I hope you find something better that you will really enjoy!:wizard: We need to coordinate with Marci and see when we can all get together.:)

Uh oh - I think between school supplies and homework assignments, middle school may be the death of you! ;)

Agreed!

One last question before I forget - for those of you doing PhotoPass CD's - how many pictures can you have on the CD? (Bernadette, I saw you comment that you had well over 500, and for some reason, I thought the number was 300 that you could have.) Trying to plan for December, and want to see how many pics (and thus families) we could realistically fit on one CD.

Okay, really going to bed now! G'night!

Lindsay - Yep. Not loving middle school AT ALL.
Last year the limit was 300, but now it appears that there isn't a limit. I think before Bernadette started adding borders/graphics there were about 370 pics on the Pass.

I was looking at flights on American again. The flights coming back on Sunday afternoon are almost completely full! No wonder they are so expensive! I think a DING may be my best hope for airfare since DH was NOT excited about a 9:30 PM arrival on Airtran.

Tammi - The airport is DAL (Dallas - Love Field). Thanks!:)

HOLY COW! Bernadette has the PhotoPass up to 1359 pictures!:rotfl2:

Amy - Your kids eat CAKE BATTER?! Scandalous!;)
The cake looks fabulous! I do love cake. The "first day" pics are wonderful!

Terry - It is Kim who likes the old barns, but your photos are terrific! Glad you had a nice time with your friends!

Hi all!

Here's some hugs and pixie dust for all. I have read but don't have time right now to respond. I must say that all the back to school photos have been great!!!!!!

I think I may be done with Disney Photopass. BUT....I am sure there was a photopass photographer when we saw Leo from the Little Einsteins. I only took 1 photo and I know I would have taken more if there wasn't a photopass photographer. I filled up a form for them to find the photos for me. I guess I'll wait a few days to see if I hear from them before I order the CD. Our original 369 photos are now 1,369.

Lizzy & Joe had great days at school today. Lizzy LOVES her new school, new locker (that they can't lock ;) ), new teacher and seems happy with the kids in her class even though her best friends are not in her class this year. There is a very nice girl from the neighborhood so that's great and her girl scout leader's DD is in her class so I know I'll have someone I'm friendly with to have another Mom's oppinion about what is going on in class.

Joe wanted to wear a shirt & tie today. He was worried he'd be teased but he really wanted to wear it so he did. I'm glad he has the courage to do what he thinks is right even though he knows others kids will think he's a fool. He told me lots of people liked it-adults I assume. He has a couple of very good girl friends in his class-since 1st year of preschool-so he's happy about that AND he has 3 guinie pigs (sp?) in his class so that is VERY exciting.

When I got home I took Lizzy to her piano lesson and we went shopping for a birthday gift for Halley from FL-today(um yesterday) is her birthday so I guess the gift is a little late. We bought her a Pluto match box car she wanted at Disney and one of those good luck kitties from Japan but I wanted to get her something else too. We also went to BJ's for a few much needed supplies.

I've been photopassing since before 9pm.

I really need to go to bed now!

I only had about 80 photos in May but I had that up to 415 after all the borders were added. It came on 2 CD's but I still only paid for 1. My girlfriend had a great discount code and we got it for only $65. We had been on the fence about getting it until she got that code.

This year I did the prepaid CD for $99 and made a point to get lots of photos taken. We have very few family photos so I'm pretty happy with some of the photos we had taken.

I think the number of photos on your account might limited by one's stamina of dealing with the quirks of the photopass site.:rotfl:

HOLY COW! Bernadette has the PhotoPass up to 1359 pictures!:rotfl2:
Did you notice any photos that you wanted me to add more borders to?

I think I'll give the photopass folks a few days to find my Leo pictures before I order the CD so if you want me to add any more let me know.

Since there is 43 days left... WHOO HOO!!

Thanks everyone for the get well wishes...They must be working. I think that I feel about 90%. I forced myself into bed about 9pm last night and that helped a lot. Thankfully Lucy is still making it through the night.

And I keep meaning to tell you all thanks for the comments on Lucy's pics. :goodvibes

I finally got a call back from Molly's preschool director, I called early last week. Anyway, I told her that Molly wasn't going to be able attend due to the potty training and she told me to send her. She thinks Molly will do it once she see everyone else do it. So it looks like we are starting preschool tomorrow!:cool1: We went out last night and got her backpack, I think it's bigger than her!

FINALLY!!!!!!!

I was going through Dis withdrawal!!!

YIPPIE on preschool for Molly. Also that the teachers thoughts are right on!

Amy - lovely pictures.

I'm glad that all the "first days" are going so well.

Hi everyone!!! It makes me feel like I have no contact with "the family" when this thing is down!

How's everyone's day going?? I'm going back to read..

Terry sounds & looks like you had a very relaxing weekend!

Amy love the pictures! Matthew looks so cute with his BLING :rotfl: Happy to hear Alyssa's 1st day went well. The cake looks yummy too!

For what it is worth my boys eat the batter & so do I!

It's technically still the first day of school...whew, what a day!

Good luck with your appointments Fri. :wizard:

okay off to bed. I work the next 2 days, then have to see the Dieticain and endocrenologist on Fri. I then work this weekend. I will try to get on fri.
