Hi, everyone! I've had a full day, and I'm pooped, so I'm thinking of turning in early!
Alan was supposed to be home from the mine yesterday, but the station asked him to stay one more night, and come home early today. He agreed (more OT), so I was alone with the kids again, last night. It wasn't too bad. The twins and I spent the afternoon at the liberry and we picked up several movies, and that kept the kids happy last night.
This morning, I got up early and made a special breakfast for the kids (it's something new I'm trying this year. Every day is something different, with a special something on Saturday). This morning it was Cinnamon French Toast Bake. Extraordinary!!!!!!!!!! The kids yummed it down, and pronounced it a keeper! I set them to cleaning up their rooms and then called Alan. He was just leaving the mine, so it would be another 2 hours before he got home. He had suggested yesterday that we take the kids to the zoo when he got home, so I told the kids what we were doing. They were thrilled.
I ran to get my hair cut, stopped at the grocery store to get bottled water, and snacks for the zoo, and barely made it home before Alan did. We got all the kids into the car and headed to the zoo.
It was really fun, but very, Very VERY hot!!!! By the time we got there at 11:00, it was alread 99 degrees out! We started out with a train ride around the zoo, and then found a picnic table under a tree and made some ham and cheese wraps for the kids. Then we spent the afternoon wandering around. We stopped at about 3:00 to see the Birds In Flight show which the kids thought was great fun!!! Some more wandering around, and by 5:00 we were done. We headed to the car, and I knew that Jacob was in trouble. He started drooping, and getting quite teary. I asked him how he felt, and he told me his head was hurting. We got in the car, and headed home. Jacob kept getting worse and worse. He went totally white, and told us to hurry and pull the car over. He threw up everything he's eaten for the last year, and we started back up. We had to stop 2 more times before we got home, poor kid!
We stopped at Wendy's for some take out dinner and got home. Jacob took some aspirin and fell asleep in my bed for about an hour. He's up now, and feels much better. I hate it when he gets migraines! It happens when he's overheated (sound familiar, Janet?), and even though I forced water down him at the zoo, at 105 degrees, it was just too hot!
Now I'm sitting here DIS'ing and watching the Sound of Music. Love that movie!!!
