Update from Mac

Well yesterday was a long drawn out day, but it all ends up good for those that wait. I think I paraphrased something there, but it seams to fit.

His surgery ended up being postponed about two hours for an emergency appendectomy, but after Naomi and I had the chance to hold him for awhile and grab a bite to eat, they were ready to proceed when we got back in the NICU.

After speaking with the surgeon, anesthiast, the RN’s and everyone else who had an opinion or idea, they wheeled him into surgery about 1:00cst. For the next four hours Naomi and I were sustained with half hour phone calls of everything was going as planned. The plan was to go in and remove his old scar tissue, re-connect the surface pieces and clean up the inside.

We were told this could take anywhere from two to four hours and they went the distance. When meeting with the surgeon, we were told that they had to dissect two additional pieces that were narrowing in his bowels and sew up three additional holes that were made during surgery when they were snipping pieces that had grown together. He also had two parts that had actually grown together, opened a hole and were passing substance through. This is called a Fistula and they repaired that as well.

He came back into the NICU wide eyed and we all gathered around to look at his “flat” belly. We now pray that the wound will heal properly, and that he won’t “pop” again. That all the connections will stay strong and clear and we won’t ever have to go back in again.

They plan to start feeding this weekend and we now have to work him off of the assisted oxygen again, but this was all planned and is acceptable. It may take a day or two to get him off the Ventilator again.

I would like thank his Doctor’s and Nurses at Cook Children’s for their continued support of our child, they do a fine job and I don’t think we could get any better.

Overall it was a great day, we did get to spend some time with him again before picking up Mya and heading home, were we both just crashed.

This morning we were told he was wearing his new Camo outfit and is getting a little help from Morphine and Versed again, but that is to be expected. This was a battle and everyone needs a little help after such a procedure.

For all those that continue to lift up my Son and Family in prayer we thank you. We know and understand that everything that has happened is due to the will of God and we thank him that he has heard our prayers.

I look forward to writing of the day we get to room in and take our baby home.

We will post new pictures this evening hopefully.

So tonight at the Girl Scout meeting I had the girls write Thank you letters for my two co-leaders. I was afraid of what I might get, as some of them constantly fool around. Let's just say I think my co-leaders will be in tears because some of them are so thoughtful and well thought out. They blew me away and I was in tears as I glanced through them.:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Now I just have to get my butt in gear and get the pictures printed out and the pages assembled. So that I did not waste the girls time. I think it would be more effective if I had it ready for the awards on 5/30, but I am aiming for June 10th to have it finished.

I realized today that my classes had started on Monday.  Since I was not prepared and since I have the option to Friday to drop out that is what I did. I did not have books or necessary materials and since the past two weeks flew by, I decided it would be best to not take classes this summer.

Friday night to Saturday is Relay for Life, I guess I should figure out how to get there.

Hope everyone had a great day.

Well, I think you made the right decision. You really need to take some time just for you!

Deb - have you called Member Services, and asked if they can extend you a discounted cash rate for those nights you're looking for? I was able to do this for some of our family that are going to stay one extra night in December, and this way they don't have to change resorts or rooms (MS just links the reservations). If there's availability, it's typically 25% off rack rate. You don't even have to put down a deposit - it's payable upon arrival!

I might have to look into that. I am happy with the prices that we have now and the free buffet at the Buena Vista Suites might be a nice change of pace. I really don't know what to do at this point :confused3

Just in case i havent said it lately..

I GO TO DISNEY TOMORROW!!

HAVE AN AWESOME TRIP. YOU'VE CERTAINLY EARNED IT!!!

Hello, All!

Just in case i havent said it lately..

I GO TO DISNEY TOMORROW!!

Wow, that got here fast! You are going to have a fabulous time! Maybe there is hope for me after all! My ticker has been frozen for the past month or so, I think. Unless you look at it from the standpoint of ticking to the end of my job, in which case it is going double time.

i talked with my attendant today and she said that her friend's brother is out of a coma. they took the tumor out that was on the back of the brain but it was also intertwined into the brain so they couldnt get all of it. he is having trouble speaking and so he is getting frustrated and the screams at the top of his lungs. he is also having trouble keeping food down. now they are going to do radiation and chemo and see if it helps if not there is nothing they can do. doctors said he has probably had it since birth because of how intertwined in the brain it is.

I hope things improve as the treatment gets under way.:wizard:

Have a wonderful time on your trip, Jen!!!

I know I missed Channon, but I hope she has a wonderful trip!

Leslie is still feverish and throwing up, poor thing. It's really hard on Mary, too. Mary is so dependant on Leslie, that when she's not around, Mary just doesn't know what to do.

I hope Leslie continues to feel better!

Well I was suppose to have today off, but I went in for a couple of hours.

When I got home I washed my dishes. When I took the plug out of the drain it sounded like a water fall. I open the cabinet under the sink & water is going everywhere. The pipe to the drain had come apart. I got it cleaned up & went back to work & got the wet vac. The water kept seeping up from the tiles. I think I got it all now. So this is what it is like to be a home owner :rotfl:

I will rent until the day I die.;)

Well, I think you made the right decision. You really need to take some time just for you!

Becky, I agree with Glynis. Take the summer off from school.

I got a letter from Nissan today informing me that my cell phone can de-program the electronic device that starts my car. I knew a keyless car would have issues! They are designing a new remote and will distribute them this Fall. Boneheads.

So I am looking at 4 jobs. 2 seriously, 1 still needs more info, and 1 I don't want at all and I shouldn't even count it.
The mom from this morning e-mailed me and let me know they definitely can't afford the salary I quoted. BUT that gave me a chance to e-mail her back and tell her that I am VERY interested in this job and I am willing to negotiate on salary for the sake of being in a job I love. I just haven't been thrilled with what I have been seeing in my salary range, so perhaps a bit of tweaking is in order. If anyone has some pixie dust to spare please toss it my way along with a wish that this family can meet my lower request. :)

Thanks...im starting to get excited..i get nervous the night before i leave...im sure il lbe excited when i get to the airport

I am excited the night before and nervous at the airport.:rotfl:
I don't like to fly, and I am always very nervous that DH will try to make some sort of stupid comment to the TSA guys and get us all arrested. He never traveled when he was younger and I question whether he fully grasps how very serious it is to make jokes in the airport. Being stupid in the grocery store is one thing, being stupid in the airport is a whole other ballgame. He gets mad when I remind him to be serious.
Then there is DS who gets the "deer in the headlights" look when the TSA people ask him his name to check it against his ticket. Not a difficult question, but it scares him. He doesn't even have a nickname, so it's not like he could possibly get the answer wrong!

Good night, Jen! I hope you dream of Disney! (In a good way. Not like the dream I had the other night where the hotel room had no walls.)

The thing is by taking off the summer I will not be taking classes again until January 2008. Reason I will be out of the country for two weeks in September on the Disney Magic.:cool1:    Well that is the current plan. So I feel guilty not taking classes but I know I can use the break. Especially since there is a lot I want to do to prepare for the time away.

Plus I may be traveling again for work. I have a feeling I am in for a busy summer

Jen... enjoy your trip to Disney! Kiss Mickey for me and tell him I'll see him in October....:dance3: :dance3: :smickey: :smickey:

Good (very) early morning everyone! i didnt get to sleep til midnight and my friend just called that shes 15 min away...

Im sorry i keep getting all excited but no one here will listen ;)
