I just realized that our SS cards were in my purse that was taken when our home was broken into. Do I just need to call the SS office & have them send me new ones & do I need to let the police know as well? This just makes me so angry I switched purse before we left for Europe, I don't know why I left the cards in there!

I don't know the answer to this, Janet.... hopefully someone else will. But I would think it would be a good idea to let the police know.

Poor Gary! Bob had something similar happen to him a few years ago and he ended up having to have all his teeth surgically removed and dentures made. I hope Gary can last until December. Good luck getting him into the dentist today.

Looks like another beautiful day out there, but they are still calling for rain. Maybe there will be enough sunshine for coffee on the patio before the rainclouds come. I was delighted to see they held off last night so Nicholas could SINGLE-HANDEDLY win that soccer game!

Good morning DDA!

I fell out early last night, this has been a tiring week. After today I have the next 3 days off from work It is another rainy day here, but looks like the weekend will be nice. I sure hope so, both the boys have their 1st baseball games Saturday.

I need to call the dentist this morning, poor Gary has a swollen face. When I 1st met him he had the the most beautiful teeth & unfortunatley over the years they have started going bad. He really needs to have them all pulled, but our dental insurance will not cover dentures till Dec. of this year. By that time, he won't have many left! I sure hope they can get him in today, I hate to see him in pain.

Dental visits are not fun. Well, neither is a sore mouth. My mother has the same problem. She has a receding gum line ( I forget the technical term for this ) which exposes the roots of the teeth, causing a lot of cavities. So far she has only had to have a few back ones pulled but as time goes on I'm afraid it will get worse.

I hope Gary can get seen today.

I don't know how the SS office handles these things.....if they just issue new cards or if the give a completely new number. You could call your detective handling the case and have him add it to the report, just in case something happens down the road and you find that someone has assumed your identity. Also do periodic credit checks to make sure nothing has happened.

Ah, the agony of defeat! I got an e-mail this morning saying they have decided they really need someone who can get to their house by 8 AM, and 8:30 would be the absolute earliest I could arrive. So that's the end of that!

Oh, no! Definitely call the police and the SS office. That reminds me that I need to take my SS card OUT of my purse since I am finished providing proof of US residency to the agencies.

DS was supposed to go over to the middle school from 9-10:30 this morning but it is career day at his school and he doesn't want to miss any of it. I don't know if I will go to the middle school without him or if I will just stay home. Surely they will have another opportunity for the incoming students to see the school since they are doing this one on a weekday morning!

Called the Denist & Gary is on a waiting list for today, but he does have a appointment for tomorrow. I have a call in for antibiotics as well. Hopefully if he does not get in today, he will not be in to much pain till tomorrow.

I also called the investigator & left a message & I will call the SS office as soon as they open at 9. Now I am wondering what else I left in that purse, GRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!

I am asking a favor from you all for dd Kathrin. She is taking a graduate IMI class and their final project is for a major corporation. Whichever team presents the "best" marketing strategy will be selected to have their plan as the new advertising campaign for said client.

Her team is going to be deploying a survey this week to friends and family to get as much information for the “client” as possible. It will only be about 20 questions long and shouldn’t take more than a few minutes to complete. Age and gender are irrelevant, but they are trying to focus on people who’ve participated in corporate events in the past, so she would prefer people who are or were recently employed.

In addition, they are trying to focus on eight main test markets, so any people in and around these areas would be especially helpful: Phoenix, Houston, Raleigh-Durham, Washington D.C., Orlando, Dallas, Los Angeles and Long Island.

If you are interested in participating, please PM me with your email address that I can share with her. It will not be used for anything more than to send this survey as far as I know.

What if my card is lost or stolen?
From Social Secuirity.gov
You can replace your card or your child’s card for free if it is lost or stolen. However, you are limited to three replacement cards in a year and 10 during your lifetime. Legal name changes and other exceptions do not count toward these limits. For example, changes in noncitizen status that require card updates may not count toward these limits. Also, you may not be affected by these limits if you can prove you need the card to prevent a significant hardship.

To get a replacement card, you will need to:

Complete an Application For A Social Security Card (Form SS-5);
Present a recently issued document to show your identity;
Show evidence of your U.S. citizenship if you were born outside the United States and did not show proof of citizenship when you got your card; and
Show evidence of your current lawful noncitizen status if you are not a U.S. citizen.
Your replacement card will have the same name and number as your previous card.

Oh I forgot to tell you that PM Brooksie arrived yesterday!

Bob was at our house when I got the package. His response....."Just when I thought I'd seen everything......". But the good thing is that he gets it.

Alyssa was so thrilled with him. She immediately dressed him in his pajamas and doggie slippers and ended up taking him to bed with her.
