The DDA Trouble Free Zone Part 24

the sad thing is they told my attendant that they have 4 people that dont even have attendants.

That just boggles my mind! If the agency responsible for providing you with an attendant is unable to do so then there needs to be another agency for you to contact! Does the state oversee this, or Medicaid, or how does it work? Because I would be calling someone on Monday and complaining.

It reminds me of trying to get DS in to see a pediatric neurologist when NONE of them were on our insurance. I called and screamed at the insurance, and they were willing to pay a non-participating Dr., but then the stupid Dr's office wouldn't accept the insurance co's promise to pay!:headache: There really has to be some other avenue.

To all my DDA sisters....

THIS SAYS IT ALL:

Time passes.

Life happens.

Distance separates.

Children grow up.

Jobs come and go.

Love waxes and wanes.

Men don't do what they're supposed to do.

Hearts break.

Parents die.

Colleagues forget favors.

Careers end.

BUT - Sisters are there, no matter how much time and
how many miles are between you. A girlfriend is never farther away than needing her.

When you have to walk that lonesome valley and you have to walk it by yourself, the women in your life will be on the valley's rim, cheering you on, praying for you, pulling for you, intervening on your behalf, and waiting with open arms at the valley's end.
Sometimes, they will even break the rules and walk beside you, or come in and carry you out.

Girlfriends, daughters, granddaughters, daughters-in-law, sisters, sisters-in-law, mothers, grandmothers, aunties, nieces, cousins and extended family all bless our life.

When we began this adventure called womanhood, we had
no idea of the incredible joys or sorrows that lay ahead, nor did we
know how much we would need each other. Every day, we need each other still.

Speaking of stupid policies...

Both of the agencies I am meeting with on Monday want to pull my credit. Um, NO! My friend said she told them she has a copy of her credit report, and if a family REALLY wants to see it she will show it to them. They do NOT get to keep a copy of it. That sounds like an OK compromise to me. I just don't see what good could possibly come from having a bunch of agencies all accessing my credit! They can not promise me that they will be able to keep that info private! They don't know a darn thing about these families (families don't undergo ANY screening - they just call up and ask for a nanny), I am supposed to release the agency from all liability, yet they want to provide a copy of my credit report to STRANGERS? And on the topic of strangers, the agency staff are strangers, too! They don't need to see my credit report. Really.

i am on the state program called C.L.A.S.S. there are now 4 agencies you can pick from. when i started out, i think it was 2000, there were 6. i have a budget of $65000 a year and that is to pay for attendant care, any therapies i need, and adaptive aides. the first agency i was in screwed my attendant and i moved 2 weeks before they shut down without telling anyone. shut down by the state i might add. the second one made my attendant that i loved and transfered with me quit because my other attendant kept saying attendant 1 wasnt doing anything and attendant 2 had to do everything. attendant 2 was a complainer and if it wasnt to her liking it was wrong and she was going to redo it. i had never seen attendant 1 so pissed she walked out of the meeting to cool down. that agency i called aps on them because i was living by my self and at times i had to call my parents to come get me out of bed or put me to bed. 8 months after we complained they said they couldnt find anything wrong with how they were treating me. so i dont trust aps anymore or the government for that matter. so then i changed to agency 3. they were a little better. they made sure i had coverage because i was out on my own. then the semester i had student teaching i had 1 attendant b/c attendant 2 just decided to stop coming. so attendant 1 was working like 63 hrs a week with me. then i got sick so i had noone for june. then we had a meeting with the director and she said i was mean, rude, snappity, dirty, hard to work with, and all these other things. at the beginning of january this year i was told that they were not participating in class anymore so i would have to move. that then brought on who to switch to. 3 agency to choose from. i chose the one i am in now b/c i heard good things. haha

Thanks for sharing that, Anne Marie. It brought tears to my eyes. So true!

Oh crap, Jen. When I was at the mall today I meant to look in the Disney store for your antenna topper. I forgot! Seeing your post reminded me of it. I didn't even make it to the Disney store. Sorry! :guilty: But if you haven't got one by the time I leave I'll get you one from WDW!

I love my ticker!!!! :cloud9:

I wish my ticker looked more like Tammi's or Stephanie's!;)

"124 days" still sounds like a very, very LONG time.

Unless you consider that when I come back from that trip my job will be over, then it sounds like not much time AT ALL!:scared:

Hello everyone!

Terry I hope you had a wonderful time today, look forward to seeing your pictures!

Vicki, yay on finding the right prom dress!

Tammi did you find a bathing suit?

Elizabeth I was going to answer Elin's question last night that I would stay in the Haunted Mansion :thumbsup2

Deb glad to hear you are feeling somewhat better :wizard:

Jennifer we paid off Gary's Jimmy last year. We paid around $400 for 5 years. I dread the thought of having to make payments again in the future. I love both our vehicles being free & clear!

So what is everyone doing tonight? I just got home from work a little while ago. Need to get dinner started, but other than that I have no plans, exciting huh :rotfl:

Yes, I did, after trying on what seemed like a gazillion. I made 2 discoveries as well:

1. Even though I like the thought of wearing a tankini, primarily for going to the bathroom purposes, they don't look good on me. So I opted for a one-piece.

2. After years of buying black based suits, brown is a much better color for me. It goes better with my fare skin, where the black just makes me look pastey. I never tried on a brown suit until today.

I also bought myself 2 pairs of shorts, a denim miniskort, and a pair of capris. Nicholas got 2 tank tops and Alyssa got 2 shorts and 3 shirts. I still need to find her a bathing suit, then I will be done.

Bob should be here in 10 minutes. We are going out to dinner (haven't decided where) and then we are thinking about seeing a movie, but there isn't anything worth watching at the theaters. So maybe we will just get another video.

Talk to you all later.

Janet - I will share the HM with you!:goodvibes

Tammi - Congrats on the bathing suit! I bought a tankini last year from Land's End. It looks OK, but it is hard to put the top on! Once I pull it over my head I found it VERY difficult to get everything situated where it belongs. Part of the trouble is that it has a built-in underwire bra. I think I prefer a plain one-piece. I really didn't go in the pool very much last summer, so I don't need another suit. I think I have 5 or 6 in my drawer as it is!

I am glad you found one! I hate shopping for swimsuits, I am hoping that one of the many different sized swimsuits I have will fit me ok :rotfl:

Hope you have a good time tonight! Gary & I went out to eat last night, so tonight we stay home.

Thank you :goodvibes

I feel your pain with getting the top of the tankini on. I had one that once I got it on, I never thought I would be able to get it off again :rotfl:

All this talk of swimsuits, maybe I will go try a couple of mine on, that should be funny!

Very pretty. I have to say that I am amazed at how much older 8th graders look now compared to when I was in school. And do any of you remember teh gunny sack (spelling?) dresses. That was what I wore to the 8th grade graduation dance

I remember the gunny sack dresses!!!! I had one in Jr. High! I loved it so much! It's the only dress I ever had that I wore completely out!

Speaking of bathing suits. We just put ours to good use. The pool here is 90 degrees. The kids bowled well for 2 of the 3 games and each had a bad game. Oh well, they seemed to have fun and they are enjoying the hotel. Hunter keeps saying this is really nice, we are staying at a Holiday Inn Express so wait until he sees DVC. I think he might flip out :lmao:
