Good morning.

I posted this on the CB but thought I would ask here as well.

Dana is up for a promotion:cool1: , but it would require us to move from NYC to CA. :sad1: I have never been to California & would appreciate any info you can give. (Best home location, good school districts, etc) The area of his location would be LA, Long Beach, Orange Co, Fresno, & Sacramento.
I am not thrilled at this prospect as I love, love, love NYC but it is a good move up & I have to at least keep my mind open, right?

My brother and his fiance live in Orange county and they love it. I'll talk to him today and try to get some information for you. I won't be able to do much on the school front, as they don't have kids, but I'll get what I can.

How exciting it would be for me to have you in California!!!! I'd be much more likely to get to meet you!!!!! (Oh and the promotion for Dana is really cool, too!):rolleyes1

Gotta run the girls to preschool. Be back in a while!

I know nothing about CA except you'll be closer to DL :thumbsup2 I'm sure that you will be happy where ever you move. Do you have family in CA? or NY?

I wish I could help with flowers, but one of Alan's sisters was a florist, and she did all our flowers for us as a wedding present. It was nice, but she totally ignored everything I wanted and just did what she wanted to do. Grrr. Finally, I just gave up trying to communicate with her and let her do what she wanted. I recently told Alan that he owes me the wedding of my dreams. The only thing I got that I wanted for my wedding was the groom!

My sister and I had a double wedding, and she basically charged in and took over everything. Of course, 18 months later she was divorced, and I got stuck with her ex in all my pictures, etc. Oh well. Maybe for my 25th anniversary, I'll get the party I really wanted!

I told Jim he owes me a proper proposal and a proper reception....haven't gotten the proper proposal yet. I keep reminding I WANT my ring back on my finger but I'm not putting it there by myself.

Unless I plan it the reception isn't happening either!!

Spanx is really supposed to be comfortable....I've been tempted to get one myself...I may get one for Cassidy and her "girls".

My flowers cost just under $200 for my bouquet, the bridesmaids(5), a flower girl basket, and 7 lapel flowers for the guys. We went with a local, family owned company and they did a beautiful job. My bouquets were simple....peach roses, greenery and baby's breath.....the florist did the most incredible job on mine and I am guessing gave us more than what we paid for because I told him to just have fun with the flowers.

We didnt' do a lot of flowers for our wedding. We had one bouquet on the alter at the Church and it moved to the head table at the reception. Each of my bridesmaids had a bouquet it was Lillies and babies breath. Very pretty, but not too expensive. The 2 flower girls had little baskets with lillies and I had a bouquet too. I don't think that we paid $200 for all the flowers. I have digging out wedding photos on my to do list. I will post some soon.

before I forget (again!!!) what are your dates this summer again????

2007 dates are July 21 - August 12. We will be staying at DVC resorts for this trip

2008 dates are June 21-July 12. We will be at Fort Wilderness for the entire trip.

I cannot wait for July to get here. I really need a Disney Fix. I'm getting cabin fever I think. It was a whopping 0 degrees when I got up this morning. We've spent the last 5 days pretty much couped up in the house and I'm getting sick of it.

Morning Everyone!!!
It's still cold here - but it hasn't snowed or rained in two days!

Might be too much info here but oh well!!!
Has anyone tried SpanX? My cousin's wedding is in July and I got a slimming undergarmet from Davids that works for a strapless dress and stops just below the waist...it's white and boned up the sides so I know it's not going to be too comfortable...I hate boning! There's a strapless version of SpanX that is longer - it stops mid thigh (so I think it might give a smoother look) and not boned and wanted to know if anyone's tried these - being um..top heavy  I'm concerned about wearing a strapless and not having anything to hold the girls up properly. I'm open to other suggestions as well.

Also I have an appointment with a florist next week. I've been petrified about pricing for flowers - can anyone give me some prices on what might have been spent for you? On FTD.com I'm finding small bouquets for over $100 - and this is the other reason why I only want one bridesmaid! (Horrible, aren't I? :teeth: )

Chanon - I haven't used Spanx myself, but all my friends rave about them. They are all the rage in image-conscious Dallas. I've heard that they're actually pretty comfortable, and do all they claim to do. Hope that helps!

Love the new pic in your siggie!

I guess I'm a lucky girl. Chris proposed to me on Christmas Day on the steps of the building where we met. He even got on his knee  I had no idea that he was going to propose as we were both so young. I remember that it was snowing too. My ring is tiny and he has offered to replace it with another, but it just wouldn't be the same. I was able to plan the wedding that we wanted and a really beautiful and most importantly really fun reception. People who attended still remark about how much fun it was. My parents lived less than a mile from the reception hall and after the reception they held a post reception party. They had tons of food and drink ;) It was a super hot day and everyone brought their swimsuits and enjoyed the pool. We ate, had fun and opened all our gifts for everyone to see. We got married at 11 AM and left my parents after midnight as the party was just ending. We forgot to set our alarm and if my Dad hadn't showed up to take us to the airport we would have missed our flight to WDW. I guess I was on :cloud9: . The only thing I would have changed was we would have had a hotel room instead of a tent at WDW. We did what we could afford and had a great time. I guess that trip started our love of Fort Wilderness too.

Anne Marie - I don't have any advice on CA, but just wanted to say :thumbsup2 for Dana and  for both of you as you make this important decision.

Everyone I've ever known that has lived in CA has loved it, so that has to count for something! I know the cost of living is pretty steep there, but I can't imagine it would be much different than NYC.

WOOOO HOOOOOOOOO!!!

As soon as I get the off site stuff handled it will be official!! We will be there the 23rd through the 27th...this year!!

I can not wait for July to come either!!

Glynis - loved your recount of your day in Epcot! I felt like I was right there with you - and you guys accomplished a lot! Sounds like great fun.

To those feeling poorly - :wizard: :grouphug:

To those feeling the weather -

Sorry if I missed anyone - off to a meeting. Have a good day!

John owes me getting back into wedding attire and having proper pictures taken. He didn't want a photographer so the best man said that he would take the pictures and another guess said he would video tape.
Well the guest didn't know how to use the video camera and the best mans camera didn't work. :sad2: We have about 6 pictures and only the one of him and his mother turned out. :sad2:

I told Jim he owes me a proper proposal and a proper reception....haven't gotten the proper proposal yet. I keep reminding I WANT my ring back on my finger but I'm not putting it there by myself.

We only have one photo that we got from the photographer....she kind of fell off the face of the earth after our wedding. The video is all of one of my bridesmaids....our friend, Jim's brother and his dad were all enamored with Melanie's whoo has.

Ann Marie,

I lived in San Diego for three years and loved it there. My uncle has lived in Modesto for over 40 years and he is very happy there.

as for earthquakes, we only had one which was very minimal. But we did get snow one year. On December 17, 1967.

Thanks for reminding me about the ring! I haven't been able to wear mine for several months. It just slides off my finger. I think I'll ask for Alan to have it sized down for our anniversary! I need my ring back!

All this talk about Spanx makes me want to check them out. Anyone got a website?

I did forget to mention that Alan broke down and bought a turkey leg both on our MK day, and on our Epcot day. I hate the things, but Alan just loves them! In Epcot, he was tearing off chunks to eat them, and just about died, as the meat was raw and dripping blood!!!

He took it back to the cart and they quickly exchanged it for another one. I was glad I hadn't eaten any of it! It was really yucky! I just don't like the smoked taste of them. Alan always buys one for a meal in DL and he and the kids pick it clean. Not me, thank you very much!!!

Oh No. We didn't have a professional photographer either. We had several family members armed with cameras and video cameras. We have albums full of photos. I need to transfer them all to new books as they are starting to yellow :sad1:
