Yes this is where he was based out of. They are having a memorial for him tomorrow. Hopefully beings Robin cannot be there, they will tape it & send her a copy.

Alan has covered several memorial services up there. They are always really nicely done. I thought about your friend this morning, as they announced the service and showed pictures of the 3 that were killed.

Just a quick post to let everyone know that I'm going out of town today and will be back tomorrow afternoon. We are visiting with Alan's best friend from high school and his family. Should be fun! I promise I'll get the next part of my trip up as soon as possible. Of course, by that time, none of you will want to hear about the marathon, but oh well! You'll just have to hurry by my post!

So on my way home from work today there was a van that had burst into flames. By the time the emergency crews got there the smoke was so bad you could hardly see.

My last textbook for the semester arrived in the mail today. I also have my nonprofit organization I need for the semester.

I will probably be relaxing this weekend, well I gotta do some homework and cleaning but we'll see how much of that I actually get done.

WOW!!!! I don't know if anyone had seen the Amber Alerts, but a 13yo boy in a nearby town disappeared after getting off of the bus on Monday. Today they found him alive at a home in another area town (maybe 30 minutes apart from each other). The most amazing part is that they found a 2nd boy who disappeared from the same area as the 13yo did FOUR AND A HALF YEARS AGO. Both are alive and the in video of them being taken into the police station they both look very happy. I was doubtful that they would find Ben and I think many had given up home that Shawn would ever be found. What a blessing for the families!

Here's a good plan......tell your DH that you are taking your co-worker with you because you have a newly divorced DDA friend that is going to be there the same time and you want to introduce him to her.

Jen phoned at 3:15 CST to tell me they were taking her Grandma back to the OR. She was waiting for her dad to pick her up and they were going straight to the hospital. She didn't have any details - just that Grandma was going back for more surgery. Please keep them in your thoughts & prayers tonight, and if I hear from Jen again I will let you all know what's going on.

Yuck! What an afternoon!

Brother was DETERMINED to go in with Sister to the Tae Kwon Do class. They will not allow him to take classes until he is 4, so we had a 45 minute wrestling match in the lobby. I kept threatening to take him to sit in the car, but Sister kept looking to make sure I was there.

We got back to the house about 4:40. I am supposed to be off at 5 PM on Friday. Momboss called at 4:55 to say she was just leaving her office, so I didn't get off until 5:40. It is raining BUCKETS, and the streets are flooded. It took me 20 minutes to go 3 miles - that stretch of road usually takes 6 minutes. I finally made it home, got drenched between the car and the door, and now I have a horrible headache.

We usually go out for dinner on Fridays but there is no way we are going back out in that mess. I called DH to let him know I was sitting in gridlocked traffic on the flooded road and he asked me if I wanted to stop on my way and pick up something for dinner. And he was 100% serious! No telling what's for dinner.

I will have to look in our newspapers to see if they have any freebies listed. i know their are free movies in the summer, Our malls dont have playscapes. Sometimes we go to chick fil a and play on the playscape. I will need to check our libary for story time.

Good thoughts for your grandma.

Thanks for the prayers and good thoughts...We have been up since 5 and just now got home from the hospital. My grandma was in the OR for 3.5 hours for what was supposed to be a 2 hour surgery. They ended up going through her neck tothe coratid artery-They thought it was 80% blocked but ended up being more, which made the surgery a bit more complicated. She is out of the OR though and is recovering in the surgical ICU. She is in more pain than was expected and may be taying over for a couple of nights,,,I didnt go into see her, but my mom, uncle, and grandpa did--they said she looks worse than expected, but is doing okay. ill be going back to the hospital tonight, so if there is asny new updates, ill let you know.

I didn't realize that's what everyone was talking about until there were multiple replies about it!

So, OK. No, I didn't make it through high school. Looking back on it my mother told me the mechanics of things just fine, but she never encouraged me not to engage in behaviors I might regret later. I think kids should know that there are really complicated emotions that go along with certain actions, and the emotions are really what you need to be mature for.

I just checked and Chatty Vicki is now 400 posts ahead of me on this thread....it seems I quieted down and Vicki sped up!! Even if I talked nonstop while she is gone to Disney I don't think I would ever be able to catch up to her.
