Deb - I am glad Colby did well at the service. I agree that funerals are more for those left behind, and if there are folks who prefer not to attend for their own reasons then I guess that should be respected. My sister was very close to our aunt, and when our aunt died my sister didn't go to the funeral. She wanted to remember her as she was when she was alive, not in her casket. I can see that side of it.

The funeral today was very sad. It is so tough to say goodbye to someone so young. They did a really good job making the funeral fit the person that he was. I was long too, about an hour. Colby did ok, but I ended up taking him to another room about 45 minutes into it. It was really nice seeing family that I haven't seen in years. We really need to have a family reunion once a decade or so.

Vicki, I understand your point of view your FIL attending the funeral. One of Randy's brother's chose not to come and the entire family was very angry with him. His parent's felt hurt and his brother and sister just couldn't believe that he wouldn't drive 6 hours to be there. He said that he was just there at Christmas :confused3 We were very happy that both of his kids showed up though. I was also surprised to see that most of the family x's were there too.

Deb

Deb glad Colby behaved.

Bernadette - Oh, my post wasn't very clear! I meant the coffee maker was the best thing at AKL! They don't have frozen Cokes there. But I have rarely seen the frozen Coke machine at Pop actually function. It is usually recharging, so no matter where they have one if it isn't working it isn't much good!

He is in a pissy mood because Toad is coming back to work. She is going to ride along with him on Tuesday. I have said all along that she is NOT going to go away quietly, she is not going to resign, she is going to keep coming back so she can continue to draw disability payments. Even if she only works ONE day, if she goes back out it counts as a new occurance so the calendar resets for how long they have to keep her position open. Stupid, stupid.:sad2:
OH...I was surprised I had never heard that but I've never been to AKL so I wasn't sure. I had really good luck with the Frozen Coke machine in May at Pop.

Here's a link to the coffee maker:

Vicki-I was a girl scout from brownies until high school when I joined Explorers-the coed division of boy scouts. Lizzy has been enrolled since Kindergarten but I did find it wasn't really well publicized. I miss out registering her for the first 1/2 of K. I really like the program for her.

Hey-anone need any girl scout cookies? :rotfl:

In May, 1998, Dixie Landings definitely had a frozen drink machine. I can't remember if there was Coke or not (I don't like colas), but I know that there was a slushy-type drink. We had (and still have) the refillable mugs for that trip, and I remember walking over in the evenings to fill them all up.

I hope that it does make a come-back with the remodel!

I'm selling my own, my troop wants to sell an average of 100 boxes per girl, so they don't get the prizes and receive a dollar back a box, instead of 65 cents per box and the prizes. Which means since we just had twin sisters join the troop they want to sell at least 1600 boxes. We'll have to see how they did in pre-sales once we get the order forms back on the 17th.

Do you have the Sugar Free Brownies, All Abouts and the Cafe Cookies from Little Brownie Baker? Or Lemonades, Thanks A Lot, and Cartwheels from ABC Baker?

Hi everyone. I'm so glad it's the weekend.

To those of you dealing with funerals, :grouphug:. I know how difficult that is.

Jen - I'm praying for your grandma. I hope she has a restful night and that she is on the road to a speedy recovery.

Elizabeth - sounds like you had a rough day. Maybe now that it is just about over you can kick back and relax.

Tia - that is just so amazing about those boys being found. And alive!!!! I thought for sure he was dead. It's a double miracle!

After i posted that she was out of the OR, my mom and i were at home and around 4 or so, i got a phone call from my grandfather that my grandma was taken back into the OR--He didnt know what was going on, so my mom went straight to the hospital, and i waited for my dad to get home from work (about 20 min later) to go with me. This is when i called Elizabeth, because i knew my grandma could use all the prayers she could get.

This is what happened...My grandfather was talking to her and she said she had trouble breathing and then started to wheeze..By the time my grandfather got a nurse, grandma was unconscious...They needed to intubate her and took her straight to the OR..Apparently,a blood clot and alot of swelling caused everything to go crazy and she suffered alot of the complications. When she came out of the OR, the surgeon told us they were going to keep her sedated from teh time we left until at least tomorrow morning- Her throat has some damge to it due to the multiple difficult intubations. My mom went in to see her and she reached for my moms hand and opened her eyes when she heard my moms voice.
Right now, we are still looking at alot of potential complications..They are checking into the possiblilty of stroke, heart attack, or heart problems due to the complications.

That is all i know for now--my mom is calling the nurse at 10pm for an update, and we will be back at the hospital at 11--right now, its just very scary--i apprecaite ALL of the prayers and good thoughts

Shame that she had to be that way. :sad2:

She did but that is her problem. At one point, my MIL told my FIL to hang up on SIL. She was getting obnoxious. That is normal for her though. Chuck called his dad directly to find out the reasons for not wanting to go. Chuck & BIL both understand the reasons so we let it drop.

ABC Baker. The Lemonades look interesting but the low fat lemon ones last year were really good and the Lemonades are certainly NOT low fat.

I wish Lizzy's troop would do it without prizes. I would think they could use the money more than we could use the prizes.

what are everyones plans for this weekend.
Tomorrow after I am taking the kids to the community theater for lunch and show. It's the last day for Narnia. I can't wait to see how they do it in a small theater setting.

On Sunday I have some friends coming over for the afternoon and we will go out to dinner.
