Hello, DDA!:)

Wow! Brother is a handful today!:scared: Glad I finally got him down for a nap!
Before I forget, Target has toys 75% off. I saw Barbie princess costumes for $5, a 967 piece Lego Fortress thing for $25 (regular $100), a DVD Pirate game for $8, a ton of Polly Pockets sets (I hate Polly Pocket), a few Thomas the Tank Engine things, lots of other odds & ends. I have learned that it doesn't work for me to buy presents ahead of time for Brother & Sister's friends because no matter where I hide them they end up getting into them and I have to go buy MORE presents. But if you have the option of putting gifts up for future parties there are some GREAT deals. Or if your school has a silent auction that you have to donate items for, you could put together some cool "theme" baskets.

and here I was trying to avoid going to Target today. It is tempting except not sure what the cousins are into. they are 8 and 6 this year girls. then we have 2 4 year old and one 5 year old friend from work little girls. just nephew and one boy cousin both turning 3 but not till nov and dec.

Heidi....the chili is a good idea and you can have lots of choices...with meat, without, with/without beans, red/green. Lots of toppings to choose from also:

sour cream
fritos
guacamole
cheeses
tortillas
tortilla chips
jalepenos

veggie trays
fruit
now that is some more good ideas to go with your chili.

corn bread muffins would also go good.

Good Morning Elin,

Since we never got our heater repaired we're bundling up inside this morning. We decided to wait on the repair and go with someone else, I know for a fact that some of the things the first guy told us were not necessary, so he definitely is out.

Debbie - stay warm! And I think you owe it to yourself to look at all of your options as far as jobs go. Benefits that start on Day 1 are hard to come by!

Good morning!!

Yes, it sure is cold here..so not used to this! It's 33 degrees now & only expected to go to 40. Katie & I just about to head off to the city to see Mary Poppins. I'll be back tonight & hopefully have some pictures to post.

Hope you have a great day!

Anne Marie - I hope you guys don't freeze!

:woohoo: :woohoo: We got our last DVC reservations changed:woohoo: :woohoo:

We will now be trying out Saratoga Springs, Boardwalk Villas and Old Key West. I am sooooo excited. I want to go to Disney NOW!!! I guess I should start nailing down where we want to eat as the 180 day window must be fast approaching.

Deb

Congrats! How do those ADRs look?

I received a postcard from Paula :) Thank you, hope you are having a wonderful time!

I meant to post that last night, but I think I forgot. Thanks, Paula!!:)

Three months. I'm doing 6 weeks and another manager is covering the 2nd 6 weeks. She is 49 years old and single. She decided she wanted a child. I don't know how she is going to handle a baby by herself. ETA: Not that people don't do that every day. It is just the thought of someone older than me having a baby for the first time. I remember how warn out I was at 26 with a baby and I had help! She also had a c-section.

That sounds like a prescription for a nanny if I ever heard one!

Elizabeth - I just heard that Subway radio commercial. Hilarious! :rotfl:

Glad you liked it!:rotfl2:

I was in a different Target yesterday and none of their stuff was 75% off - just 30-50%. They didn't have everything we needed, so I went to another location today while the kids were at school. DS's friends don't have parties anymore, so he doesn't need gifts set aside. I didn't see anything I thought he needed for himself. Brother & Sister have 4 parties in the next week or so and I was able to do 3 gifts out of 4 on clearance. It seemed like a lot of things I saw were the wrong age or gender for the kids who are having parties right now, or I saw multiple things that would have all been suitable for the same kid.

congrats on getting 3 out of 4 on clearance.

Well im on my way to dinner with the family and Steve.i will post some pictures when i get back!
have a great night!

Wanna pick every ones brains.

Food ideas for a birthday party for an adult?
Tired of the cookout theme. Hosting at a local firehouse, so have use of the kitchen. Birthday is in early May, so could possibly still be cold out. Simple and easy, and enough to feed 26 adults, the 3 kids will just pick.

Thanks, Heidi

all caught up. now off to email my cousins and read Harry Potter. i still dont get why dis radio is playing christmas songs still. oh well

Jen - Enjoy your dinner!

Theresa - I'm glad you got that report out of the way!:thumbsup2

I was just talking to DH about our trip in 3 weeks. He was asking if it is EMH at any of the parks the night we arrive, but it isn't. Besides, our flight doesn't get in until 8:20 so even with EMH we probably wouldn't have made it to a park. Better to get an early start on Friday morning!:yay:

that is one of the reasons she got a playscape from her Opa last year. I need to go find her Bicycle as that is what he gave me money for to get her for Christmas.

I would love to incoperate stuff like that into birthday and Christmas.

Terra is getting a bike for her birthday as well. I have to see if she needs a new helmet and pads as well. I think I may see if my BIL will get her a zoo membership or one to The Magic House (local children's museum). He works in an art museum and likes to do gifts like that.

Tia - Another mom was telling me last week that the St. Louis zoo is FREE? Is that right? What does a membership get for you if the zoo is free?:confused3

Thanks for all the advice on my work situation. I spent most of yesterday helping in the office, inventory is next week and things are a mess. The more I work in there the more I see that she definitely needs to be taken out of the position.

So here's a new twist to add to the situation. I got a phone call from another business while I was working yesterday, they were canvassing the area for someone to fill the HR position in one of the stores here. They offer benefits from day one and are willing to pay more than my current salary. I felt it was inappropriate to discuss a job offer at work on company time so she is supposed to give me a call at home this afternoon. I told DH that I would definitely talk to them and see what they had to offer before I made any kind of decision.

So we'll see :confused3

That sounds like something with potential! I hope that the conversation goes well and that your work situation settles in soon.

Hi, everyone! I'm back and so happy to be back!!! We had a great time, and I promise I'll tell you all about it. Suffice it to say, I actually FINISHED the half, and didn't do too badly, either.

My husband, SIL, and BIL had a great dinner with Ellen and her family, and Kate and her family! It was definitely the highlight of the whole trip! I can't wait to get to do it again! Alan had a great time with Steve, and repeatedly said that it was great to finally meet up with some of the DDA, and see that it's such a great group!

My one regret was not being able to hook up with Jennifer and Kyle. Hopefully we will meet in the future!

Well, I'm off, back to page 6098 to start catching up.

had never thought of the childrens museum might have to look into that one. we have a litle zoo here but not very good.

Thanks Debbie, like the idea of a taco bar. :thumbsup2

Firehouse chili? For some reason when you said it was at the firehouse it made me think of chili, you can also have fritos, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese and other toppings there so that it can be served as taco salad.

Which Harry Potter are you reading? I am finishing up my Peter & the Shadow Thieves and then I think I'm going to start rereading all my Harry Potter's.
