Dawn,

Congratulations!!

I had a terrible sleep problem with my 2nd. It can make you crazy in the head. Complete lack of sleep is not something you can live with. It was the scariest thing that I have ever been through. Every time that I laid down, I felt like I would not wake up. No explanation for why this happen. I wonder if it has something to do with prenatal vitamins because it started before I was pregnant when I started taking the vitamins to try to get pregnant. I had a little trouble at first but it got really bad the last month & a half before my due date. I am not saying that would happen to you but that was the most stressful time of my pregnancy. The worst part started right after I had been in the hospital for false labor ( my DD left the hospital screaming that night for her Mommy) & then a few days later was Sept. 11th. I definetly think that stress made it worse. I cried to my doctor and told her how scared I was. She put my on ambiene sleep pills. She said it would not harm the baby & it did not.

I do not have the answer for you but I do know what it feels like if that helps. It will get better & I worried that it would not stop after I had my baby but I never had another problem. I will pray for you & if I can help you talk about it I will be glad to. Call your doctor - that is what they are there for.

Happy Birthday to everyone that I might have missed. Last week our youngest son turned 27. I feel old and young at the same time. :lmao:

EVERYONE STOP GETTING SICK!!!!!

Denise, sending pixiedust: your way

Anyone feeling blue, I can relate, it is the time of year. All of the holidays are done with.

Now I need to have anyone tell me that it is all in my head literally.

Saturday night my DH and I went out and met our kids to celebrate youngest son's b-day. I knew it would be smokey and told myself that we would leave if it got really bad. After over two hours, we finally left. I went to sleep after taking some medication, and woke up at 5am. :confused3
I took a shower and more migraine medicine and sat in front of the computer and played games. I could just not go to sleep. Hubby looked at me when he got up and told me to go to bed. I did but really did not sleep, just dozed. I noticed I still smelled smoke. I was like a crazy person walking around the house, cleaning and doing laundry to get rid of any smoke smell I could find. Woke up Monday morning and could STILL smell smoke. I finally left work an hour early and went home and rested on the recliner. DH made supper for me which I could only eat a little bit. I took more migraine medicine but it got worse overnight and I stayed home on Tuesday.
Here it is Wednesday and I just cannot get rid of the smell. Could it be my sinuses? Am I going crazy? :guilty: I am very sensitive to light and am not really hungry at all. Of course the next step is the DR but what do I tell him? With no insurance, I am not looking forward to any BS.
Any ideas?

Terry
Did you wash everything you and DH wore that night including coats? I know it clings to everything. I'm allergic and a few times I had forgotten to clean my coat. :confused3 I hope you feel better soon. :wizard:

Can we please shut down the Chick Fil A talk??? I haven't had any since....well.....yesterday, LOL.

Are the smilies not working for anyone else?

Ok...now you've made me feel old. :hippie: I was in my senior year of college when it happened.

Some of us are really OLD, I was working, 35 years old and in the mall where I was working, they were showing the lift off and then when the explosion happened I almost got sick right there. Then they kept showing it. My grandfather had worked there and I knew He was just turning over in his grave when that happened.

This is not the time or the way that I wanted to announce...but...I'm almost 9 weeks pregnant :) . Unfortunately, this pregnancy is not going as smoothly as my first. I'm miserable and hoping someone here has some answers.

First of all, for the past few days I haven't been able to sleep. I don't fall asleep until after midnight, then I'm awake on and off throughout the night. Even when I do fall asleep I'm aware that I'm not in a "good" sleep. I'm averaging 4-5 hours of sleep per night (and that is interrupted sleep).

Secondly I have a horrible headache on the left side of my head. I'm kind of stuffy so I figure that is part of the reason for the headache. The other reason is lack of sleep. By bedtime the headache is so bad I think it is part of the reason I can't go to sleep. Then it hurts worse because I'm not getting enough sleep :(.

I also have been breaking out in what Kate and I figure are hives. I'm not 100% sure about that since I didn't have them when I went to the Dr. They started a few days after I found out I was pregnant, and come and go.

So this is what I've tried for the headache - Tylenol and Benadryl. Didn't do a thing. Breathe Right nasal strips to help with the stuffiness. It helps a little.

For the insomnia - Tylenol and Benadryl. The Benadryl helped me fall asleep faster, but I was awake within an hour and a half of going to sleep.

Hives - Benadryl and Cortisone cream.

Once I started looking at everything I realized many of these problems seem stress/worry related. I'm a worrier and stress about everything, so this wouldn't be unusual.

So what am I stressed about? At first I thought nothing. Then I realized I've been sort of anxious since I found out I was pregnant. Don't get me wrong - this we wanted this and we're very happy - I just don't have the same over the moon sense of joy that I did with Christopher. I guess I'm worried about how another child will affect our family. We can afford another baby, but finances are still on my mind. Someone please (honestly) tell me this is normal.

I am also on prescription meds for chronic conditions. My dr. has assured me that he has patients on these meds all of the time, but all 3 at once?? I'm anxious that me taking the meds are going to affect the baby (I did do pre-pregnancy counseling/planning and the dr. said they were OK, I just still worry).

I am also due right when Christopher will be starting Kindergarten. We're also changing schools, so he won't have any of his friends from his current school there. He will be fine, but I worry that a new sibling, new school, Kindergarten is going to be tough for him.

So...everything is out there now. Can anyone say anything that will make me feel better?

How about techniques for relaxing?

Any home remedies for stuffy nose/headaches/insomnia???

I'm sorry to be such a downer. I just feel awful!
Congratulations!! Concentrate on that new bundle of joy that you are carrying around with you. I hope you feel better and get over all of your anxieties. I can relate with you on the stress. I found out that I was pregnant with Alyssa shortly before 9/11. Then with all of that sorrow I felt like "why am I bringing a child into this horrible world" and "what kind of life is my child going to have." It took me a long while to get over that. Then one day I just decided to focus on my family and the joy that this baby was going to bring and not to worry about everything because it doesn't do any good. I hope you can get to that point and enjoy your pregnancy. :goodvibes

Congratulations Dawn!

After that, I've got nothing...

Except to say that it is perfectly natural to feel a bit overwhelmed right now. But everything will turn out just great.

You're going to have a baby!!!! pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

if it makes you feel any better her baby is actually 4 months old!!

I can't be mad - being pregnant with Julia was the best diet I ever went on - I weighed 25 pounds 2 weeks after I delievered than the day I got pregnant and 35 pounds less than the day before I delivered -

I was wearing my jeans a week later!! I have learned I have no room to complain when women look good after having a baby!!!

amazing how our bodies change with each child. with my first, two weeks after the c-section, I was out walking about and four weeks later wearing a bikini and of course since I was nursing, looking pretty good. with the second, six weeks later i was still looking five months prego. the third I think I gained about 20 lbs but got back into size 8 jeans,,,,,,, now----- :lmao:

I don't even want to think about it at all.

and of course you will worry about the financial impact on your family - and all I can say - yes it will change your financial make up but you will be fine
This made me think of something a coworker once told me when we were talking about family planning. He said, if everyone waited to have kids until they could afford them, we would never have any. For some reason that always stuck with me, being so true. We think we can't afford them, but we can't afford not to have them.

Did anyone watch Dr. Phil yesterday?

did you see the family where their deaf dalmation attacked their daughter and she needed 31 stitches on her face

the dad wants to keep the dog and the mom said no way the dog is coming back in the house -

the husband said that he felt it was not the dog's fault and the mom put their daughter in the dangerous situation and should have been more careful - and that he thinks she just needs to learn how to protect their daughter

Dr. Phil helped them come to a compromise to keep the dog outside until their daughter is older

I got to tell you though - if my DH said on National TV that a dog attacking my child was in any way my fault and that it was me and not the dog that needed to be trained - we would have way bigger issues than whether or not we were keeping the dog!!!!
I agree. I'd be hardput not to put the DH out for that one. :headache:
