Here's a quick run down of our trip -- not a formal report, but just a little "glimpse":
Sunday - Grandad arrives at the airport, and we leave! A successful drop off and we're on our way. We arrive to 80+ temperatures. It was so warm in Atlanta's airport that I actually changed my shirt while in my seat on the plane (once a girl scout, always a girl scout). We were supposed to have a two hour layover in Atlanta, but due to bad weather in Atlanta we waiting in New York instead. So we made it to Atlanta in time to race like crazy for our plane to Orlando. I hate the stress of connecting!!! We arrived, checked in and heading to Kona Cafe in the Poly for dinner. Great dinner of Almond Coconut crusted chicken and then made it for Wishes at MK and EMH. Where were all the people??????? There was literally NOBODY there. We walked directly on to each and every ride. There was nobody on Space Mt., Big Thunder Mt or Splash Mt. There was a posted 10 minutes on Big Thunder, but we walked in, rode and walked off in under 10 minutes total. The good thing about off season is definitely the level of crowds. It was actually almost depressing - we really enjoy people watching. All of FantasyLand looked like a ghost town. It was truly weird!
Monday - more 80+ temps. We hit the two outlets for some shopping fun and then Olive Garden for one of the longest and most leisurely lunches we have ever had. What a concept! Not rushing through the meal was one of the benefits of traveling without a little man. There goes Paul's rule of eating at places that we don't have in Rochester

. But since that is what I was in the mood for, he obliged. We then headed to AK for a look at Expedition Everest, the new coaster ride. We asked at the front gate about getting on because we are DVC and AP holders - their previews started Thursday and we were due to leave on Wednesday. Unfortunately nobody took pity on us and it didn't look good. So Paul suggested heading back there anyway - just to see what's going on. We head back there and the area is closed to all but Cast Members. We explained about my birthday, AP, DVC yada yada yada. The kid was nice, but no go. Thankfully a sweet woman was listening and her husband was a cast member. I can't say much more (don't want anybody to get in trouble) but trust me when I tell you that the experience was just AMAZING! Very cool ride. We ended up riding it 3 different times and each experience was so cool. I don't want to give away too much - other people can do that for you - but it is worth riding. I don't think we'll ride it for at least a year because I can promise you that the line will be extremely long.
We then ran over to MGM and had a great time - and then ran to dinner at Kona again! Hey - when its good, its good!! We had our second Dole Whip of the trip as our dessert. They sure are addicting!! Watched Wishes again (we never get tired of it) then finally headed home. We were exhausted and had only been there one full day!!
Tuesday and Wednesday coming soon....
