Thanks for everyone for all the birthday wishes. This one is the BIG 40.....I am handling it well though so far.

My mailbox this morning had black and white balloons

My office at work is decorated with black and white balloons, banners and streamers

My WONDERFUL DH sent me "40 LONG STEAM RED ROSES" ........I told him they were beautiful but that I hoped he still had money for the steak dinner I wanted for tonight.

So far the weekend is looking pretty good.

Thanks again, Lynn

What a sweetie! Enjoy that steak... sounds yummy! :goodvibes Glad you're having a good day!

I just received word that SIL is out of surgery, but still unconscious and in recovery. The tumor was mostly on the surface, and they were able to remove it without any problems with speech (we knew that it was sitting on a speech center and SIL had to be partially alert during surgery so that they could make sure speech was still ok). The doctor warned that this type of tumor could reapper in 10-15 years but was very upbeat about how everything went today!!!

Thank you all for your kind words and concern.

Beth

Glad things are looking up! Continue to keep us posted as she recovers! :goodvibes

Ok, so I'm home. Thanks for all of your posts.... I survived at least, and those awful noises, etc are done!

It was a rough procedure though. It took just under 2 hours, which is MUCH longer than in the past. She said they had to really expand the bone and tissue more about 3 times the norm, so I'm going to be sore (duh) and the healing may take a little longer as its a bigger site..... but they did all sorts of preventative stuff for dry socket, so hopefully it works :wizard:

More than anything, I'm STARVING! Like an idiot, I didn't feel like eating before the appointment so I just didn't.... forgetting that I would be chomping on gauze to put pressure on the site for hours. Blech. So I'm here, counting down the minutes (if only I knew how many!) until my mashed potatoes :rotfl:

Anyone else here?

I am Jen. I'm glad you are done. It sures sounded icky. :scared:

12-3 to 12-10 (We are going 12-10 to 12-17)

ETA: The dates I used before were 11-26 to 12-3 and that was $263 (before fees) :earseek: But that was also the Sunday after Thanksgiving- which is the busiest travel day of the year...
where are you flying from and what time of day are you leaving and returning.
roundtrip from Austin Texas on delta is $337 before fees a person leaving nov 27 and returning dec 4th.

My sister in PA just called to tell me that our Mom was taken to the hospital late tonight. She is completely unresponsive but the last report was that her vital signs are OK. Not sure what the heck that means. She is 85 years old and not in the best of health. We had to move her from Assisted Care to a nursing home in August and she has not been doing well lately.

I have not seen my Mom since the fall and was planning to go up next weekend. So I am feeling badly now. It is so very hard to live 6 hours away from those you love and have your own family and life that has to be maintained. Anyway... please keep us in your thoughts. Thanks, friends.
:grouphug: prayers and pixie dust that all works out okay.

I could use some prayers and pixie dust for my sister-in-law today as well. She found out in August (when she was pregnant with baby #5) that she had a brain tumor. She had a beautiful baby boy in December, and today is the day for the brain surgery. I am 6-7 hours away from them. I have three busy kids here, and I know that I couldn't really do anything there, but it is hard to feel so far away and helpless.

prayers and pixie dust.

So glad all went well.

Okay moms I need your help what is the best way to get your kids to take meds. We just got home from the Dr and DD has a sinus infection. So now I get to fight with her to take meds tired to give her tylenol last pm for the fever and she cried so hard she puked all of it up all over both of us. This is the first time I have to give her Antibotics. the Dr. suggested making smoothies. :confused3 What would you do. How would you go about making smootihes.

It doesn't get much more off topic than this...

Anyone active in church? I am Lutheran...I just got back from a congregational meeting....we had to vote on whether or not to remove the Pastor from our church, effective immediately. As much as I feel like it was a necessity...I can't help but feel guilty. It amazes me, I have never experienced the amount of poltics in the work place that I deal with at the church level.

Ok..I'm done. My head is just spinning. Sorry for the rant

Kristine

Sorry guys - I'm just catching up. I was raised Catholic and married Skunka who is Lutheran. We've decided to raise DS as a Lutheran. That being said, there is so much politics in this church - and thankfully most of it I don't understand. PM me if you ever want to vent!!

Hi all! :wave2: It's been a quite a while since I posted. Only now I think I have some motion sickness from zooming through this thread and speed reading up to this point. :crazy2:

Thanks to everyone who has posted or sent me a PM with photos of the designs I made. It is really cool to see them all and your families having a great time at disney!

Now I just hope I can stay caught up because reading hundreds of posts at one time is a bit too much for me!

Hey - welcome back! And if I can keep up at my age -- you can keep up!! Glad you're around.

My ds was absolutely horrible about taking meds, and fortunately he very rarely needed them. If you make a smoothie, be careful to put the medicine in a fairly small amount. If she doesn't finish the smoothie, you won't know how much of the med she actually took.

Happy Happy Birthday from one January baby to another!!

Have a great day Lynn!!!!!
