Thanks for everyone for all the birthday wishes. This one is the BIG 40.....I am handling it well though so far.

My mailbox this morning had black and white balloons

My office at work is decorated with black and white balloons, banners and streamers

My WONDERFUL DH sent me "40 LONG STEAM RED ROSES" ........I told him they were beautiful but that I hoped he still had money for the steak dinner I wanted for tonight.

So far the weekend is looking pretty good.

Thanks again, Lynn

Elin, I am so sorry to hear of your mom's hospitalization. Please don't let guilt eat away at you now. You did your best. Your family and your mom will be in my prayers. I am traveling to the Pittsburgh area on the 27th. If you need anything or there is anything that I can do to help, please do not hesitate to ask.

Tammi -- I may be going up there too on the 27th. Are you driving alone or with family? Do't you hate the trip? And if the weather is bad.... Thanks for your kind words. I really appreciate it.

I could use some prayers and pixie dust for my sister-in-law today as well. She found out in August (when she was pregnant with baby #5) that she had a brain tumor. She had a beautiful baby boy in December, and today is the day for the brain surgery. I am 6-7 hours away from them. I have three busy kids here, and I know that I couldn't really do anything there, but it is hard to feel so far away and helpless.

I just received word that SIL is out of surgery, but still unconscious and in recovery. The tumor was mostly on the surface, and they were able to remove it without any problems with speech (we knew that it was sitting on a speech center and SIL had to be partially alert during surgery so that they could make sure speech was still ok). The doctor warned that this type of tumor could reapper in 10-15 years but was very upbeat about how everything went today!!!

Thank you all for your kind words and concern.

Beth

A quick check-in at lunch today:

Lynn: Happy Birthday!!!!

Elin: I am so sorry to hear abour your mother. I hope she receives the best care and that she is able to be comfortable. Thinking about you.

Beth: Sorry to hear about your DSIL. I suppose it is a good sign that it is an operable tumor to begin with. My thought are with you.

Jennifer: YUCK! The only teeth I have ever had to have pulled were wisdom teeth and I also ended up with dry sockets. That is no fun. I still can't stand the taste of cloves.

Ladylucca: Nice to see you back. I have our 4 dwarf shirts in a baggie and waiting for our trip back in April. Thanks so much. We got a lot of compliments on them in November.

Tammi: Glad you got a good price on your October airfare. I am still trying to find something decent for August. I agree though that a trip becomes real when the airfare is booked.

Marti: Nice designs. I really like the "green army man" one.

Clare: Conkers? I was going to ask about that also.

Kristie: Sorry to hear about your struggles at Church. We are Methodist and we get no choice in our ministers. The Bishop takes care of that for us (whether we like it or not).

Mac: I am so sorry to hear of your loss. It is my firm belief that God is now holding your son. He was truly the most innocent and deserving of God's salvation.

Hope you all have a great weekend.

I will be sending out the spreadsheet this weekend. For those who have sent me their e-mail addresses, look for it "in the mail".

Wow, Beverly -- your post is so organized. You must take notes as you read the boards ;)

That is great news!!!!! I am keeping my fingers crossed that all stays on the up and up!!!

Here's the same frame from TravelinGal but with a different picture of Matt. Paul had to help me with this one....

Hey, that one looks great! I love the pic.

I have been having a hard enough keeping up with this thread that I hadn't read any new DDA threads in awhile. We have some talented new designers hanging out on the board. If any of you are lurking here...I am impressed!

It doesn't get much more off topic than this...

Anyone active in church? I am Lutheran...I just got back from a congregational meeting....we had to vote on whether or not to remove the Pastor from our church, effective immediately. As much as I feel like it was a necessity...I can't help but feel guilty. It amazes me, I have never experienced the amount of poltics in the work place that I deal with at the church level.

Ok..I'm done. My head is just spinning. Sorry for the rant

Kristine

I understand Kristine! I have been through this several times at a couple of churches. The hardest was the two youth ministers we lost while I was in the youth group. The politics are astounding sometime, aren't they? Good luck finding a new minister soon.

Just me and the kiddos since they get out early on Friday and then have Monday off. DH has to work. It will be the our only chance to get up there before Easter. Then we might be bring my mom back to spend a few weeks with us. I love it when she is there...a new playmate for the kids, she keeps my house clean, and dinner is always ready when I get home from work. :teeth:

I am hoping this fair weather sticks around.

My sister in PA just called to tell me that our Mom was taken to the hospital late tonight. She is completely unresponsive but the last report was that her vital signs are OK. Not sure what the heck that means. She is 85 years old and not in the best of health. We had to move her from Assisted Care to a nursing home in August and she has not been doing well lately.

I have not seen my Mom since the fall and was planning to go up next weekend. So I am feeling badly now. It is so very hard to live 6 hours away from those you love and have your own family and life that has to be maintained. Anyway... please keep us in your thoughts. Thanks, friends.

Lots of prayers and pixie dust coming your way. I hope that you get some concrete answers soon and are able to get up to see your mom soon. :grouphug:

Hi all! :wave2: It's been a quite a while since I posted. Only now I think I have some motion sickness from zooming through this thread and speed reading up to this point. :crazy2:

Thanks to everyone who has posted or sent me a PM with photos of the designs I made. It is really cool to see them all and your families having a great time at disney!

Now I just hope I can stay caught up because reading hundreds of posts at one time is a bit too much for me!

Welcome back! I was just thinking about you last night as I was revisting your design thread.

I have a bunch of stuff going on in RL,some quite stressful , so I haven't had much time to DDA. I think about y'all a lot. Everyday I keep everyone in my prayers and pixie dust to all in need. Hopefully my life will chill out soon and I can hang out again!

I must have missed your original post, but wanted to pass on a :grouphug: and :wizard: . I was thinking about you the other day and hoping everything was okay.

You got it, Beth! I hope that the report after surgery is good. Are the doctor's hopeful that they will be able to get all of the tumor? The kids will definitely be in my prayers as well.

Ok.... off to the dentist (big surprise, huh?) for this stupid extraction. I don't know what my deal is, but I'd rather have a root canal. I had teeth pulled for braces and the sounds you hear, and the things you feel (while not really PAIN, but still) just send chills up and down my spine. And then it seems that no matter HOW closely I follow the rules (no straws, etc) I get dry socket. And that just plain stinks. :guilty:

Sorry to have been such a complainer lately!!!! Ugh.... I'm just getting sort of worn out, I suppose. :confused3

Thanks for all your support! Hopefully you all will be around this weekend if I'm stuck at home and need somewhere to spend my time!

Have a fabulous day, and enjoy the beautiful weather if it's nice there, too! :goodvibes

Good luck, Jennifer! I know exactly the things you're taling about and sympathize completely. I hope this afternoon finds you pain free. :wizard:
