I hope no one minds or is offended, but I feel the need to brag on my DH a little bit today. I don't know how large the news story of the space capsule "Stardust" landing last weekend was where you all live, but here is was huge! My DH is a field photographer for a local news station, and was sent to the landing site to cover the story. Unfortunately, the weather report wasn't so good and the forecast was for cloudy and snowy. DH had to be there at 3:00 a.m., and he left me at 10:30 the night before, to give himself time for the 3 hour drive plus any snow and ice he might encounter.

He was the first photographer to arrive, and the NASA people gave him a prime site. Other news stations started to arrive, but none of them set up their equipment because they all thought the cloud cover and snow would hamper their visibility. DH, however, was all set up and ready to go. Finally, about 3 minutes before the re-entry, the snow stopped, the clouds shifted and there was clear sky. The capsule appeared in a large fireball with a tail streaming out behind it and DH was the ONLY photographer that captured it! The NASA people couldn't get their camera out until much later, and none of the other news stations got it on film at all. After it was all over, everyone was scrambling to get DH's film from him. The Discovery Channel wants it for a special they are airing later this month, CNN wants it, NASA wants it, etc. DH was a little bummed, because he can't sell the film. It legally belongs to the station he works for. If he had just been filming on his own time, he could have sold it for quite a bit of money.

However, I'm so proud of him! He takes such pride in his work! Thanks for letting me brag a little. I'm sorry if this is inappropriate!
That is way cool for your DH.
Go right ahead & brag!

Evening all.
I have been trying to decide on a tattoo for a long time.
I have always wanted a Tinkerbell.
I just can't decide what pose.
I would love the signature under her.
th_tink.jpg

I also can't decide where to put it.
I want to be able to see it without a mirror.
Maybe on my calf or upper arm.
What do you think?
Maybe someone could design something?
Well I'm back on page 236.
So I'll catch up.

Brenda,
I want to put one on my left ankle. sorta like the one in my signature but with some sparkle. Just need to get the $$ together

Hey all, I am also a American Idol Fan. The tryouts are the best! Makes me laugh. I have been working on my tshirts. Got 5 more done tonight. Made my wife this one:

She said it was perfect for the way her days seem to always go.

Tom,

This is a really cute design. Nice to know your wife gets some t-shirts as well as Leighanna.

Have you designed any for yourself?

I feel for you. I had a root canal last Tuesday and had to go back today because it was still hurting. This all started out with me trying to get a crown for a cracked tooth. Well he took the temporary crown off and told me to not chew on that side and eat soft foods for the next two weeks and take ibuprofen 2 every 3-4 hours. He said the area is real inflammed and it will take approximately 2 weeks to calm down and hopefully quit hurting.

The good point in all of this is I lost 5 pounds since last Tuesday.

I sure hope we both get some relief for our teeth very soon.
:wizard: Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks to all of you who have either included your dates or PMed them to me. I am going to give it a day or so to try and add as many as possible.

For those who would like a copy, please PM me your e-mail address. This is an excel spreadsheet and it will be easiest to send as an attachment.

Thanks,

Once again I'm up and in pain -- but I promise I'll only post it once tonight :teeth:

My oldest dd came home early from school feeling sick. She is laying on the couch (my my little dd) watching her favorite movie..Mary Poppins.

Dick vanDyke just said "as quick as you can say Bob's your uncle..."

I had to laugh to myself! :rotfl2:
:rotfl: I remember that bit now! Dh won't watch MP on account of Dick Van ****'s "attrocious" cockney accent!

ETa: Well I'd never thought of that one! Looks like I've been auto-moderated - I hope you all know who I'm talking about despite the stars :rotfl: Find it odd that I'm allowed to say his first name though!! :upsidedow

That thought went through my head when I was reading your post too Denise :rotfl:

Clare-
My Valentines Decs really aren't worth the effort to photograph :goodvibes Just some heart window clings on the patio doors and some Valentine's towels in the bathroom. But when Easter rolls around, I promise to post- I get into that one almost as much as Christmas!!

Cool - can't wait to see the Easter ones ::yes::

You could've given me a hard time - that's my humor anyway!! But it logged me off and I got back on today to see that it posted three times - now I look like (as they say in England) an ****.

Oh I'm gonna have the whole DDA speaking "English" English by the end of March I reckon ::yes::

And the funny thing is that on a UK site that last word word most definitely have been converted to stars :rotfl:

I haven't seen the Willy Wonka movie yet as I have a fondness for the old one and I've heard that the new one is not as good. But, I do love him in Pirates as well. He gave that character such personality. I can't wait to see the second one when it comes out.

I was a bit wary about seeing the movie - why remake something that's great already right? But I actually really liked it - maybe even better... the story is slightly different in places - I think it's more true to the book - apparently Darhl hated the original movie.

Get it on DVD and have a look - it's good

Can't wait for PotC 2 - that one is worth looking forard too :goodvibes

Glynis said it was alright to post the link

http://www.ksl.com/?nid=148&sid=150518

you can see the news story with her husband's video here!!

Can't see it :sad1: It's a ram file which needs Real audio player apparently and I don't have that and they want to take my credit card and a load of forms just to give me a 14 day free trial :badpc:

When I get back from work I'll try and run it through a file converter. Thanks for finding and sharing the link though google Queen - and Glynis :goodvibes

I am starting to put together our trip plans for Spring Break which is in April. It will be me, DH and DS17. DS is in his last year of high school, so I wanted to do one last 'big' family vacation before he goes off to college next year. We will be flying to Las Vegas and then doing a circle driving trip that looks like this:

Las Vegas - 2 nights
Sedona, AZ - 1 night
Grand Canyon NP, AZ - 2 nights
Page, AZ - 1 night
Bryce Canyon NP, Utah - 2 nights
Zion NP, Utah - 1 night
Las Vegas - 1 night

I have done some research into what we want to do, but am still in the planning stages. If anyone has any good suggestions let me know. I have the air, hotels, and car booked already so now I am just looking for what to visit, what to do, where to eat etc.

Let me know if anyone has any suggestions or advice.

Thanks. Ellen
Ellen,
How about Carlsbad Caverns in NM? I don't know how much out of the way it would be with what you have planned already, though.
