Glynis - I LOVE LOVE LOVE that idea!!!

Well, I've got a couple of months to work it all out, but I think I can do it! I'll come up with some kind of searching game (like looking for hidden Easter eggs). I think I'll check out the birthday web site for some other ideas. You guys are just the best at making me feel like I can do things I never would have thought of doing. Thanks.

Hey all, I am also a American Idol Fan. The tryouts are the best! Makes me laugh. I have been working on my tshirts. Got 5 more done tonight. Made my wife this one:

She said it was perfect for the way her days seem to always go.

We have our pre-school carnival on Saturday. There are tons of games, food, activities, rides, and those bouncy things. We also have a silent auction and each class does a basket and stool.

I was in charge of our class' stool. I painted all day yesterday. The months are the children's fingerprints. I bought Rees' stool 2 years ago, Brantley-Kate's last year. so this year I HAVE to be the high bidder for Davis' stool, no matter the price. They are really cute.

Here are the pics of my finished product. I think it turned out very well.

You stools are adorable Denise! What a neat idea.. Whatever the price, you have to have it!! :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

I am going to become either a Pediatric or Neonatal nurse practitioner. I've wanted Peds forever, but my preceptorship is in the NICU so I figure I'll give that one last chance.... but my heart is definitely in Peds.

I had thought about a PA program long before nursing, and it would have been easier as I already have a bachelor's degree in Microbiology. There just aren't as many options though, for PAs (as far as job market, PLUS teaching in academic settings, etc).... and in all states but I believe two, NPs have as many or more abilities than PAs.

I'm excited, but it seems so far away! :faint:

Who am I kidding!? My whole family knows I'm going to be a professional student :rotfl:

I just have to say I have a special place in my heart for the NICU nurses that took care of my twins when they were born. They were born 5 weeks early and I was terrified. I had them C-section, but I didn't get to see them as they were born. The surgical nurse handed them thru a window into the NICU as soon as they were out. I didn't know if anything was wrong, or what was going on. DH left me in the OR (at my prompting) to get to the NICU to check them out. The nurses were so wonderful. One of them even took our video camera and got footage of them in their little incubators. While I was in recovery, DH brought that footage to me so I could see them. After about an hour, the NICU nurses wheeled them down in their incubators so that I could see them and talk to them, etc. They were constantly phoning my room to let me know how they were. I know that they were incredibly busy, but they really kept me in the loop. I really appreciated that!

Ok, who all here watches American Idol? Or should I say who will admit to watching it? These auditions are the best part. It just cracks me up  the way some of these people really think they can sing. Can't they hear themselves :listen:?? And Simon is just too much. I love it. :rotfl:

We love it. Chris watches the show, but the early auditions are a must see. It's the best part. It is amazing what people will do to get on tv.

Yeah.... I say my heart is in peds because I LIVE for the interaction you get with kids... especially young ones. I also like the autonomy that comes as a PNP, so I think that's where I'll end up.

I do cherish the time I spend in NICUs, though... because what happens there, every day, is nothing short of a miracle! ::yes:: :goodvibes

Glynis, we always do one party and the kids each have their own theme and cake. They each get their own cake, a Mylar balloon with that theme, and paper goods with the theme. The party favors are usually a book (I hate giving little stuff the kids throw away). we generally give the Weekly Reader book collection for the gift. they are hard cover classic books.

Anyway, we do general games (pinata, rent a bouncy thing, rented a train once). Last summer we had it at one of those bouncy places where the kids get to jump. Get pizza and drinks.

The kids love it. I'm sure we'll have separate parties one day, but for now they're happy with sharing one big party. Oh, and I generally do a poem for the invite (for the 4th it was a party at our local kids book store. they did games, a parade, music). The invite said books are fun, books are great, we're turning 4 let's celebrate! this past year (5th) I got separate invites for each one with the appropriate theme. I wrote a poem for each invite and then mailed it to the kids they specifically asked to come. for family/general friends I made a plain one with a group poem. Yes, I get a little nuts about their b'day, but then I only do a party once a year!

1st b'day: huge party to thank everyone for helping
2nd: had an Elmo (sesame street) theme with a train cake and each of their names on a car behind the cake
3rd: Dora, construction, Snow White
4th: Caillou, trucks/cars, Strawberry Shortcake
5th: Harry Potter, rescue heroes, Barbie bride

Have no clue for this year. I'm thinking of doing a Disney theme party so the kids can have their fave character on a cake and all their friends can come dressed in their Disney costumes. I'm sure y'all will help me plan it out for June!

sorry to ramble. hope this helps.

I hope no one minds or is offended, but I feel the need to brag on my DH a little bit today. I don't know how large the news story of the space capsule "Stardust" landing last weekend was where you all live, but here is was huge! My DH is a field photographer for a local news station, and was sent to the landing site to cover the story. Unfortunately, the weather report wasn't so good and the forecast was for cloudy and snowy. DH had to be there at 3:00 a.m., and he left me at 10:30 the night before, to give himself time for the 3 hour drive plus any snow and ice he might encounter.

He was the first photographer to arrive, and the NASA people gave him a prime site. Other news stations started to arrive, but none of them set up their equipment because they all thought the cloud cover and snow would hamper their visibility. DH, however, was all set up and ready to go. Finally, about 3 minutes before the re-entry, the snow stopped, the clouds shifted and there was clear sky. The capsule appeared in a large fireball with a tail streaming out behind it and DH was the ONLY photographer that captured it! The NASA people couldn't get their camera out until much later, and none of the other news stations got it on film at all. After it was all over, everyone was scrambling to get DH's film from him. The Discovery Channel wants it for a special they are airing later this month, CNN wants it, NASA wants it, etc. DH was a little bummed, because he can't sell the film. It legally belongs to the station he works for. If he had just been filming on his own time, he could have sold it for quite a bit of money.

However, I'm so proud of him! He takes such pride in his work! Thanks for letting me brag a little. I'm sorry if this is inappropriate!

That is so very cool, Glynis! I have seen the pictures from thesite, so I have to assume your DH took them! ::yes::

Way back ten pages ago....

Evening all.
I have been trying to decide on a tattoo for a long time.
I have always wanted a Tinkerbell.
I just can't decide what pose.
I would love the signature under her.
th_tink.jpg

I also can't decide where to put it.
I want to be able to see it without a mirror.
Maybe on my calf or upper arm.
What do you think?
Maybe someone could design something?
Well I'm back on page 236.
So I'll catch up.
