The DDA Trouble Free Zone Part 18

Well, ladies (and any gents hanging around), it's been a productive day for me! I got my last layaway paid for, Santa stuff hidden, POC2 bought, and I was able to get Alan's present. I never know what to get him, but I think he'll like this year's offering. He works out of his car, and is constantly on the phone. I'm always worried about him driving while holding his phone, so I got him a bluetooth headpiece for his phone. At least he'll be a bit safer at work.

I still need to get him a new ice fishing rod from one of the kids, his combo hunting/fishing license for the new year and some new fingerless gloves for work. I also found a really neat cast iron dutch oven turkey roaster. I think the twins will probably get that for him. He loves turkey, and to be able to make some while camping would be heaven for him!

I'm off to bed, now! Alan and I just finished watching Akeelah and the Bee. It was a really good movie. I enjoyed it a lot!

Talk to y'all tomorrow!

Just passing this along.

All Hearts Must Be One

Everyone has the same emotions
Everyone has the same feelings
Everyone has the same desires
No matter where we live
or what we believe in
all hearts must be one

We must make the world
a place where
love dominates our hearts
nature sets the standard for beauty
simplicity and honey are
the essence of our relationships
kindness guides our actions
and everyone respects one another.

I asked her tonight if she saw her sister's present and she said "yup, and Cassidy said she already knew about it!!" Well Cassidy claims she didn't say that but since she can't lie to me....she was a fibbing. :teeth:
I asked Abi to see if the item (a Game It) was where she thought she saw it. It wasn't there and she said I must have been hallucinating!! (We rehid it)

I then told Cassidy that dad was returning it and I would be getting her something else. She said "Oh I'll pick something else!" "Nope, I'll get it" "You'll get something I want right?" "We'll see" :teeth:
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: that reminded me that my YOUNGER sister was the one who finally told me there was not really a Santa Claus. I STILL don't believe her!

Also just wanted to share a news story from this morning...Hopefully it will make sense!
Our local grocery store sells gift cards to many other stores in the area - like Old Navy, Best Buy, Target etc...Thiefs are writing down the gift card numbers from these cards - then putting them back on the selves so they can be sold...meaning you buy a gift card for someone for Christmas - but a thief has the account number...they can then "check the balance" and buy something from that online store...leaving you with a gift card with a zero balance. PLEASE take cards from the back of a display - or from behind a customer service center where no one has access to the cards. Keep a receipt with the gift card - and give it to the recipent too so they have record if something was to happen to the $ on the card. There was also a news article I was reading about a store employee from Best Buy that was swapping out gift cards with an invalid one right at check out...so if you buy a gift card direct from the retailer - have them recheck the balance before you leave. FYI! It's amazing what thiefs can come up with!

Here's my nephew! He's only 17 months and look how tall!!! I had to buy him 2T pj's from Old Navy!

We finally got our tree decorated tonight.

Tammi, your tree looks just beautiful. And your angel is exactly the one we have, which I stopped using this year because I went with more of a casual look (Disney and keepsake ornaments) instead of my more elegant looking tree.

Well, it took a lot longer than we expected, but we are home from the hospital, and I don't have time to catchup right now, but wanted to post our update!!

Our new granddaughter, Hayley Jeanne was born at 11:05 this morning by cesarean section. She weighed in at 9 lbs 10 oz, and is 21.5 inches long.

Thanks Janet. I can't wait to go see baby and Mom after work today.

...and how can you not forget the cats at Christmas?!
Luke had no problem...

I love this picture, Ellen. Look at Shawn's face! :cloud9:

I know, the look at his little girl is perfect. I'm going to print out the pictures I took while I am at work today and take them up to the hospital after work. Maybe I'll frame a couple of them for Shawn and Jamie. But I also want to get pictures of each of them holding her, but I wasn't able to get those yet.

This is true here too, Chanon. And with the advent of camera phones, there is no need to write anything down, just snap a picture of the number! Quick and easy. Another option is to order the gift card online instead of buying it from a store.
