Just how unbearable is it to go to Disney in Aug? Does anyone remember when the free dining usually starts? I was thinking maybe taking the boys for a quick trip before school starts, I don't think I can wait till next Dec. lol But I am not sure I could handle the heat. It gets hot & humid here, but I try to stay inside when it gets bad.

Because of my work schedule that's about the time we will get to go next year. Although I do heat better than most....not looking forward to the humidity!!

Question for those of you that have had kidney stones. I really think that the doctor is misdiagnosing me. First of all my pain is mid right back and the stone they saw is on the left side. I have known about that one for years and it has never bothered. The odd part for me is that my pain subsides when I lay down. I have very little pain during the night, nothing that would even wake me up. I thought kidney stones hurt all the time. I have also had the pain radiate around my side into my abdomin and sometimes up my right shoulder. That doesn't seem like kidney stones from anything that I have read. The other thing that seems off is that this has been bothering me for nearly 2 weeks now. Most stones pass within 48 hours or become so unbearable that they have to be removed. I spent time this morning doing a little self diagnosis. I think I may have a gall bladder issue. The pain and the way it radiates makes sense. I have also had weight loss which can contribute. I have had a lot of gas lately, which seemed unimportant until I started researching. I have also had a few episodes of vomit burping after eating over the last week (sorry to be so graphic). I left a message for the doctor nearly 3 hours ago and still no phone call. I would rather be certain of what I'm dealing with rather than kill the pain of some unknown. Any info would be appreciated.

Deb

This sounds a lot like the symptoms I had when I was having my gall bladder troubles. It can be extremely painful! MIne did not get better when I was lying down, though.

We went last August, and it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be. Even dh who really dislikes heat/humidity was pleasantly surprised.

In my opinion, you have been misdiagnosed! Kidney stone pain does not go away when you lie down, nor does it stop at night! I've never had gall bladder troubles, but it sounds like that may be your problem. I definitely think you need to have your gall bladder checked.

The pain from my kidney stones is low in my back and it never really radiates until the stone begins to move. I hope this helps!

Thanks, everyone, for your good bowling wishes! They worked! I wasn't the first to get a strike, but I wasn't the last, either! It was a fun day!

It's a gloomy, windy day here! I hate that. If it's going to storm, I wish it would just do it and get it over with!

Got to leave in an hour or so to take Katie to a choir performance, and then she has her concert tonight at 6:00. Going to be quite a day. Hopefully, it will be good!

I don't think they'd put you with her if they didn't think you could handle it and help the class in some way.

Sounds like an adventure to me!!

The only DTD restaurant we have been to is Fulton's, and it was really good!

Good night, Tammi! Chat with you tomorrow!

The only restaurants that we have done a DTD is McDonalds  The kids favorite and the Earl of Sandwich. We will definitely eat at the Earl of Sandwich on future trips. Great sandwiches at a great price.

That is one thing I seem to do alot of, I'm always finding hot surfaces to burn myself on. The worst burn I ever had was on my stomach.

Since I know the next question is going to be how did I do that, here ya go.
It was from a pizza oven sitting on a countertop and I was stretching to reach something on the top of the cabinet. It burned me through my shirt, I am so glad I had a cotton shirt on and not something nylon or something that would have melted fast. It was about 2 inches high and 7 inches wide across my stomach.

Hopefully you won't need the burn first aid treatment anytime soon.

Nick did something similar at my Mom's house last year. Got a good burn across his chest from a hot cookie sheet that he leaned against. He still has a scar too.

I have had quite the busy morning! And my back is paying the price, too!

I went to Toys R Us this morning for Hanukkah toys for Brother & Sister and toys for DS for Christmas. Poor Momboss is sick in bed! I haven't decided what I will get for Brother & Sister myself, but I got their things from their parents. I bought 4 boxes of expansion track for DS - all different. Well, the girl scanned 2 of the boxes twice instead of scanning all 4 individually so I don't know if I came out better or worse on that transaction! I do think I got more track than I would have gotten if I had ordered from Amazon.

From there I went to Sam's (I swear I spend half my life in Sam's). I bought a case of Gatorade and 6 bottles of champagne so lifting those was probably not the best idea. I have also been lifting Brother since he has been sick, so my back was already protesting.

I brought that stuff back to the house, picked up the kids, and went to the grocery. I asked if they had menorah candles at the grocery store (they have shabbat candles) but the lady had never heard of a menorah so we went to another shop for the candles. And we stopped in the post office because the boxes you can drive up to were overflowing mail out the slot. Grabbed some lunch for Momboss and came home. The kids had a snack, then got into bed for naps. Craziness!

Sounds like you could use a nap, too! That's a lot of work! I'm tired just reading it!

Yes I found it, how cute! I love watching little ones in school plays. Tell Alyssa great job! Here is the link for everyone else:

She did an awesome job. I bet she practiced a ton. Colby has been practicing for his concert for days now. A few songs I still can't identify, but he seems to know what he is doing :rotfl: His preschool teacher said that he can wear his tree costume, but I'm not sure that he will. He says that he doesn't want the other kids to pick on him

I spoke with my parents. They can't make it down for Christmas due to my dads work schedule, but providing the mild weather continues, they will come down for New Years weekend! Yippie!

I'm sorry that they can't make it for Christmas. Do you have the kids?

Tammi - That video is darling!

Deb - I am not sure what to make of your pain. I have what I suspect is gall bladder trouble on occasion, but it is always in the front right, just under the curve of my rib cage. It started when I was pregnant, and it flares up if I have been laying on my right side for a long time. I don't know anything about kidney stones, but from what you have said that doesn't really sound like your problem. You might see about getting a second opinion from another internist.

Janet - I did NOT think Disney in August was that bad. We went Aug. 3-12 this year, and we are going Aug. 15-24 next year. Last year free dining started Aug. 13, this year it starts Aug. 5 for people on the bounce back promo. I didn't think it was that crowded, but we are always at the parks when they open. People who went the first week of free dining said it was PACKED, but I don't know what frame of reference they had. :confused3 I don't love humidity, but I can handle it. DH didn't care for it, but with DS's schedule and the lure of free dining that's what we are going with next year. I think I would rather be hot than cold.

Truthfully the weater in Florida in July or August is no worse than in Vermont at the same time. It is hot and humid, but not unbearable. The difference is that Florida has months and months of it and Vermont only has a few weeks. The good news is that Disney has most everything air conditioned or shaded so you can do a reasonable job of staying cool. We will be there July 21 - Aug 12 give or take depending on whether we drive or fly.

Glynis - I am glad you had fun at bowling! What gift did you end up getting to take home?

Debbie - :grouphug: Retail is brutal. I know hiring and training new cashiers this time of year will be a nightmare!

Tammi - I hope your parents can come for New Year's!

Theresa - Sounds like your day is going pretty well! :)

I got a beautiful white pillar candle, scented like holly berries. It's got a ring of gold jingle bells at the base. It looks so pretty on my mantle!
