Nick's concert was really excellent, well at least the 1st half was. I was not comfortable in those chairs so we ended up leaving shortly after Nick performed. He did a really good job and he really knew his parts. I took a bunch of pictures but really don't feel like dealing with them tonight. I'm tucked in my comfy bed, watching CSI and DISing. The night is getting better by the moment :thumbsup2

Nick and Hunter a tucked in bed and Colby has decided that he needs to take care of me so he will be sleeping on the cushion in our room  He didn't have a nap today so he should be sleeping soon.
What a sweet little boy you have, Deb. :goodvibes

Congratulations, Jen! :cheer2:

Glynis - In the future if you burn your self do not put butter or Vaseline on it. That seals in the heat and causes the burn to go deeper into the tissue. Just put cool water on it, then cover it with some loose gauze. There is some reason not to use ice, though I can't recall exactly what that reason is. An OTC burn ointment or cream would probably be good for the pain, along with some Tylenol. I am glad the Solarcaine helped! Be careful with that peanut brittle - sugar burns are REALLY painful.

Thanks for the tips. I didn't know that about butter. Very good to know!

Yes, I've had them too. But I thought butter was a no-no as it holds in the sting. I would think vaseline does the same thing. I hope it heals quickly.

Thanks. It feels just fine tonight. It's still red, but no pain!

Sounds like you are being well taken care of! I love it when the kids want to take care of you. I remember having strep throat once, and Jacob crawled in bed with me and stroked my head until I fell asleep. It was so sweet. I think he was all of 3 years old at the time. He's my only cuddle bug! I'm kind of bummed that he's too old to do that with much any more. It was so much fun to snuggle with him. And it did make me feel better, too!

All 3 of my boys are outstanding. Nick helped take care of the kids this afternoon, kept offering to bring me anything and he cooked pizza for himself and his brothers :teeth: Then he layed in bed with me for about 20 minutes tonight just talking and asking questions about you guys. I had a page opened :lmao:

Hunter stood behind me before the concert started and kept rubbing my back. I think he thought that it was relieving the pain, but no such luck. It was a nice gesture though.

Way to go Brooks boys! :thumbsup2

I think I'm going to take the boys lead and head to bed. Talk to you all tomorrow.

Deb

Good night, Deb!

I am sitting here hashing out where we want to eat in August. I only have 2 months and 2 day to decide before I call for ADRs! :rotfl2:

I have to remember that at TS restaurants where DS can order from the kids' menu we will be better off paying OOP with DDE. Buffets we need to use DDP credits because DS will only eat one plate of food for the adult price. I am also looking at some signature restaurants where I will NOT be using 6 credits for a single meal! We'll come out much better paying OOP on those, too.

Anybody have any particular thoughts on Flying Fish or Citrico's?

Just a quick pop-in.
Wanted you all to know I'm feeling better.
Had a bug that's been going around.
Thanks for all the pixie-dust shared.
I'll try to get on Friay.
It's 10:00 P.M here just got home.
Ramiro went to a party tonight.
So it's showers & off to dreamland.
Catch ya later.
Take care.

Has anyone every had a steam burn? Last night I was cooking crockpot chicken and dumplings (faboo recipe, by the way!). I had forgotten that the handle on the lid was broken, so I kind of had to wedge a spoon under the lid to lift if off the crockpot. As I was doing that, I got a horrible burn on my thumb from the steam! Oh my goodness, can we say PAINFUL!!!!!!! I put it under cold water, I slathered it with butter, I put Vaseline on it, but nothing helped! I finally just wrapped ice in a towel and held it on the burn. It helped for a while. After dinner, I found a can of Solarcaine in the bathroom from last summer's boating trip where Katie forgot to put on any sunscreen (can we say LOBSTER???), and sprayed that on my thumb. It worked for about 30 minutes and then I had to respray! That went on throughout the night. At about 2:00 I woke up and realized that my thumb didn't hurt anymore, so I was able to sleep soundly after that.

Anyway, steam burns, OUCH!!!!!
First of all yes I have had a steam burn the last one was on Thanksgiving, can I say ouch. Second I am sorry to hear that you burned yourself. Third of all for future referrence don't put butter, or vaseline on a burn it can make the burn worse. Instead run lots of cool water on it or a cool compress that you are constantly rewetting with cold water, you might be doing this for a long time, you really shouldn't put ice on it either as it can damage the already tender skin with frostbite. Then you can put aloe vera, solarcain, or another otc burn cream if you want to put something on it, but it isn't necessary and cover it with a band aid or gauze. Sending :wizard: :wizard: that the burn heals quickly.

ETA: I see several others gave first aid and medical advice. :teeth:

Theresa- I was honestly wondering if this had something to do with bullying, they can change even the best of kids behavior. Sending :wizard: :wizard: and :grouphug: :grouphug: to help you get through this.

Jen- congrats on being finished for the semester. Good luck meeting the teacher tomorrow, you will be fine.

I haven't been to either but I hear great things about them both.

Thanks, Deb! Hmm. Do we think it is time for me to re-certify in first aid? :rolleyes1 It has been about 3 years since my last course, and I am getting a bit rusty!
Red cross First Aid certification is good for 3 years, so it might be time to recertify.

Thanks for the advice. I'm so glad to have these tips. I've never really had to deal with burns, so wasn't sure what to do. I'm so lucky to have friends that care like y'all do!
