Another busy day in my house.

I got most of the laundry done, have mine yet to do.
I hope to clean the carpet in the hall tongiht after the girls go to bed.

Along with a few other things I should be ready for a great homecoming on Sunday.

oh and one more thing.......

It's amazing to me that more school libraries don't do this! When/if I ever get my own school library, you can bet I'll be pushing those books over the fluff that seems to be pushed on kids these days. At Katie's old school, the librarian prominently displayed "The Goosebumps" series and books of that kind. She said that kids asked for those and she got tired of showing them where they were. I'd rather have a huge, gorgeous display of award winning books, and try to get kids excited about them.

I totally agree with you!

Katie is how old again?

My girls love PD2 but they also like Ella Enchanted and I love the book more than the Princess Diaries (PD is just a little too mature for my tastes).

I love the book Ella Enchanted. I haven't read any of Princess Diaries, and we've only seen the first. Another set of books that is great is by E.D. Baker. I think the first is called The Frog Princess. Also, try Searching for Dragons, Talking to Dragons, and Dealing with Dragons by Patricia Wrede. I can't remember which is first off the top of my head.

I think I am going to put higglytown heroes in the H spot of our ABC Disney Coloring Book.

That would be cute....and something she knows!!

I forgot another series Abi enjoys:

The Princess School

and

Animal Ark (I think that's it...she's a sucker for any puppy books)

Katie is 9. She already owns Ella Enchanted. I thought the movie was cute, but the book was sooooooooo much better! I just love Gail Carson Levine! Have you read "The Two Princesses of Bamarre"? It's so good! Katie and I will be reading that together after "The Witch of Blackbird Pond."

I'm putting The Two Princesses of Bamarre on the reading list for dd (and myself!)

I just finished reading "Size 12 is Not Fat" by Meg Cabot. Theresa graciously loaned it to me! Is there anyone else out there is DDA land that would like to read this book? It's a lot of fun, and a great read! If you want the book, PM me and I'll send it out to the first PM. Maybe we can get the book to make the rounds of the DDA just like Pal Mickey.

Let me know who wants it!!!

Just read this,,,if someone didnt take you up on the offer, id love to borrow it!

Yes ma'am!! I think that it was one where Disney really missed the boat, book to movie wise. They needed to put the team that did Holes on it!!

We read CinderEllis and the Glass Hill....it started my obsession with Gail Carson Levine. She has one for a bit older kids (not based on any fairytale) called The Wish, very good.

The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants is another good series, of course they aren't award winners :confused3 , but good discussions still came out from the compare and contrast!!

I like the Traveling Pants books (as does dd), but they do get a bit more mature. I liked The Wish, too, but I can't remember if dd read it or not.

I need to run now, but I read a few good young adult books on the plane. I'll write about them when I get back.

I'm NEVER going to catch up, am I? And this isn't even from the trip...I can't get caught since we've been back.

I've wondered about the Sisterhood. We never saw the movie, and I haven't read the books. Maybe I'll do that before Christmas, so I'll be able to make an educated decision. Thanks for the suggestion.

I haven't seen the movie either. If you start, make sure you read all the way through three before giving them to dd. I think that the third needed the most discussion around here.

Now I really am going!

Abi only made it through the first so far but Beth is right, 3 has the most talking points.

If you read the first one, the movie comes pretty close to the book, though I was a bit disappointed in the way the movie handled the life and death of one of the characters.

I have not read it yet or seen the movie

I'm caught up on the PMs asking for Dawn's address!

We are going out of town for the long weekend, so if you'd like Dawn's address, please send me a PM today for a quick response. :)

OH Theresa,

Disney.com has a new code that expires 9/5/06 NEW15OFF $15 off $75 or more purchase :teeth:

We survived the trip to the dentist!

Much to my dismay, Matthew fought off a nap (Alyssa used to fall asleep in the car within seconds...he has other ideas), and he was crying so much that the very sweet receptionist decided she'd hold him until my teeth were cleaned.

Alyssa was very interested in my check-up and she handled her own check-up fabulously! I rewarded her good behavior with a new pack of Zizzlingers (or was I really rewarding myself for the whole experience?!! :rotfl: ).

The dentist did sternly tell me it's time for Alyssa to stop sucking her thumb. Where as, I don't want to see her do any damage to her bone structure, I also feel she needs this comfort for a little while longer as she continues to adjust to life in our new home with her new brother.

I'm also stressed, because I know potty training and a transition to a big girl bed need to happen soon. I just don't want to overwhelm her (or myself) with too many changes at once.

I'd appreciate any advice anyone has on any or all of these subjects! :)

If you don't get it from Amy before she leaves town I have it and can get it to any one that needs it.

Potty training.
Olivia showed some interest right after her 2nd birthday then decided after a couple of months refused. Then about 2 months before her 3rd birthday she deicded to start going in her potty seat.
We have had the potty seat in our bathroom since before her 2nd birthday. You can try to put the potty seat in the living room or where ever you spend a lot of time. Let her sit on it in their with her clothes on. then after a few weeks move it to the bathroom then every couple of hours ask her if she needs to go. If she does anything then pile on lots of praise.
