Glynis I sent you a PM

Got it!

Ok, everyone! Jennifer is getting the book. Let her know if you want a chance to read it as well, and we'll get this book travelling.

I think I am going to put higglytown heroes in the H spot of our ABC Disney Coloring Book.

I think that would be cute! I love to watch Higgleytown heroes. My little girls love that show, too!

Santa hasn't told me what he is bringing anyone yet. I think that Cars and Little Mermaid will definitely by on my list even if they aren't on anyone else's.

Santa gets to work quite early around our house! With 4 kids, we have to start our Christmas shopping in August, in order not to break the bank!

I have to say, while the dancing bunny is cute, there's something a little disturbing about it, too! But don't stop posting him. I think I'm growing quite attached to the little guy!

And congrats on making it through this time without Mark without going

I love the book Ella Enchanted. I haven't read any of Princess Diaries, and we've only seen the first. Another set of books that is great is by E.D. Baker. I think the first is called The Frog Princess. Also, try Searching for Dragons, Talking to Dragons, and Dealing with Dragons by Patricia Wrede. I can't remember which is first off the top of my head.

I've added these to my list! Boy is that list growing! Thanks for the suggestions. Katie told me last night that her idea of the perfect Christmas would be one where she got at least 8 books. Now that's something I can get excited about. It's cheaper than electronic gadgets, and a lot more beneficial to her mind!

I forgot another series Abi enjoys:

The Princess School

and

Animal Ark (I think that's it...she's a sucker for any puppy books)

Has Abi read "The Goose Girl"? It's written by Shannon Hale and it is really good! She also wrote "The Princess Academy". I've got that one on hold at the library!

So in addition to being swaddled, I found another sure way to get Matthew to sleep. It's called the "Sound Sleeper" and I bought it for $25 from One Step Ahead. It has 10 different sounds, including the "womb," and it knocks him out in a matter of minutes. I guess I should have taken this to the dentist this morning! :teeth:

I haven't seen the movie either. If you start, make sure you read all the way through three before giving them to dd. I think that the third needed the most discussion around here.

Now I really am going!

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll make sure I do that!

I have about 6 books that I have gotten at half price books for Olivia. They are winnie the pooh and a couple of other books.

I start shopping for christmas the day after christmas. of course some of those are used for Birthday presents.

When Glynis pm'ed me a couple of nights ago to say she was done with Size 12 is Not Fat...she asked if I wanted it back or to let it go on. I told her to offer it up and the rest applies to you all:

If you see that I've finished a book and you'd like to read it....pm me and I'll get that one started. I have a second hand bookstore that I go to that charges me 25 cents for books. I have a nice cushion of trade ins there so these books don't cost me diddily.

We survived the trip to the dentist!

Much to my dismay, Matthew fought off a nap (Alyssa used to fall asleep in the car within seconds...he has other ideas), and he was crying so much that the very sweet receptionist decided she'd hold him until my teeth were cleaned.

Alyssa was very interested in my check-up and she handled her own check-up fabulously! I rewarded her good behavior with a new pack of Zizzlingers (or was I really rewarding myself for the whole experience?!! :rotfl: ).

The dentist did sternly tell me it's time for Alyssa to stop sucking her thumb. Where as, I don't want to see her do any damage to her bone structure, I also feel she needs this comfort for a little while longer as she continues to adjust to life in our new home with her new brother.

I'm also stressed, because I know potty training and a transition to a big girl bed need to happen soon. I just don't want to overwhelm her (or myself) with too many changes at once.

I'd appreciate any advice anyone has on any or all of these subjects! :)

Well, both Leslie and Mary were thumb/finger suckers until about a month ago and they are 4 now. Their pediatric dentist was not too concerned about it. He was more concerned with how they might be made fun of at school if they kept sucking. He told me that it was just fine for them as it helped comfort them. I would use your best judgement on this one. As you say, she's going through a tough adjustment at this time, with a lot of different new experiences coming up for her. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

When the time comes, you'll know. You're a good mom. Trust in that!

Thanks for the potty training advice Jennifer! :goodvibes
No problem. The potty seat in the living room idea was something my pediatricain suggested.

Since we just finished potty training I thought I could offer some tips.

That's really the best way to do it, isn't it? I started about 5 years ago to make sure that all my Christmas shopping is done by Thanksgiving. That way, I have oodles of time to spend with my family doing Christmas things! It's really lessened the stress level of the holidays around our house.

I'm going to sign my name on the inside cover of the book before I pass it on to Jennifer. I think it would be fun for everyone who reads it to sign and write where you live on it. That way, when Theresa gets it back she can see how far her book has travelled. Should be a ton of fun! And a great way to share some good books! I'll be going through my books soon and hopefully I can get some of my own going cross country, too!
