The Day Before...

We will be flying into Orlando the day before our 4 day cruise on March 28th. At first, we thought of staying in Orlando, then going to the airport the next morning for the bus to the port (we have Disney transfers).

But after thinking more about it, we figured that anything around Orlando is going to be really crowded on a Saturday, so we are thinking now of heading right to the port once we arrive on Saturday morning. I am assuming that there has to be transportation on Saturday for those taking the 7 day cruise.

So I have two questions:

1) If I tag our larger bags and we carry everything we need with us until we are on the ship, will Disney take our bags on Saturday and deliver them to our room on Sunday?

2) At the port, we would stay at the Raddisson. Other than spending the day at the pool, are there other activities to do? I wouldn't mind seeing the Kennedy Space Center, but we don't have a car rented.

Thanks!

Robert

Do not put your cruise tags on your luggage when you fly down on Saturday. Disney will not pick up those bags. Or if they do, they're likely to put them on the 7-day Magic rather than your 4-day Wonder.

Also, you might want to consider dropping your transfers (that will lower your cruise price by a bit) and renting a car. You won't be able to use the transfers to get to the Radisson the day before because the transfers from the airport are only the morning of.

Also, you'd want to have a car if you stayed at the Radisson because, no, there isn't anything within walking distance. And a car is the only viable means of transit to/from the Space Center.

So my key recommendations are...

1) Cancel your Disney transfers

2) Do not tag your luggage with your cruise tags before you leave home.

3) Claim your bags when you arrive in Orlando.

4) Rent a car.

Thanks for the advice Dave. I will contact our TA tomorrow to see about canceling the transfers, or at least the transfer to the port.

Is there any advantage to taking the bus back to the airport? Disney booked us on an early flight home (11:30am). Also, wouldn't it be cheaper if I could turn the car in before the cruise?

Robert

Robert, yes you can return the car before the cruise. I have details about this at my web site...

www.dcltribute.com/carhire

The advantage in taking the bus on the return portion is the simplicity of the process. If you're doing nothing other than going straight from the port to the airport, it is the easiest way to go.

If u do get a rental car and drive down to the RAD.....
U have the rental car,, return morning of the cruise and take the rental Car shuttle over to the port I believe avis does this check out Dave's site....has them listed

Also if u would like to do something fun u can go to a restruant right on the Water and watch the Magic sail by at 5 pm the one we know of is called Grill's

We are planning to spend the night before our November 27th cruise at the Radisson as well. We planned a car service to take us from the airport to the Radisson, and then taking the Radisson shuttle to the port in the a.m.

Hmmm....I never thought of how we leave the Radisson for food....Grill's does sound like fun.

Any thoughts, there are 4 adults and 2 young children in our group.

Thanks!
