My husband and I just booked a last-minute trip to WDW about a week ago and we will be there from December 13-18. Originally, my idea was just to grab counter service whenever we got hungry because it is such a short trip and we didn't want to be tied down with Dining time constraints. BUT-I need your help! Can you make suggestions for great places to get counter service meals from each of the parks as well as DTD or even some Resorts?! I have a few places in mind but more suggestions would be great! I plan on doing a Dining Review of our experience. :santa:

In my experience, we did not come upon a "great" CS/QS. Most of them were good. Some of our favorites were:

Columbia Harbor House - MK
Sunshine Seasons - EP FW
Tangierine Cafe - EP WS
Flame Tree BBQ - AK

Sorry, can't recommend one at DHS. We try to avoid CS here.

Not sure where you are staying, but we really enjoyed the Boardwalk bakery. The best carrot cake we have ever eaten!!!

Some others that people seem to like are Wolfgang Puck Express at Downtown Disney, the Pepper Market at Coronado Springs Resort.

Looking forward to reading your dining review when you return! Have a great trip!!!!

I enjoyed Cosmic Rays & Peco Bills at MK. We did Picnic in the Park at AK and that was nice. We enjoyed Contempo Cafe at the Contemporary. Didn't do CS in Epcot or DHS, but I've heard good things about Sunshine Seasons in the Land at Epcot. We plan to do Toy story Pizza Planet at DHS in May.

I agree with PPs but wanted to add that Starring Rolls Cafe in DHS has a tasty lunch, although menu is limited to a couple of variety of sandwiches, but they are large and good, and the desserts are amazing.

Agree with PPs and in addition I would add:

Pizzafari - AK We like the Hot Italian Sandwich but we order the salad on the side not on the sandwich.

Tangierine Cafe - Morocco Epcot - Love the combo platter plate.

Yakitori House - Japan Epcot - We like the combo platter.

Wolfgang Puck Express - Love the sandwiches.

Hope this helps some. :)

I just wanted to throw Earl of Sandwiches (DTD) out there too - really good sandwiches on freshly baked bread! Yum!!!

Agree with the others listed, but will say that if you need to eat CS at DHS, Backlot Express is about the best of the bunch.

Everyone has me intrigued about the bad counter service in DHS...looking at the menu on AllEars, there is a snack stand called Min and Bill's Dockside were you can get a hotdog in a pretzel roll. Is that regular sized? Is it a snack credit? most of the items look to be more counter service??

Since we have such an early Fantasmic reservation, I wanted to find something like a "brunch" menu around 10am, will I have any luck???

Thanks!!

Sorry, I definitely should have added where we were staying! We are staying at AS-Sports.

You would think that with so many people being unhappy with the CS at DHS they would do something about it!

Thanks for your suggestions I am beginning my compilation and will hopefully let everyone know where we plan on going before we leave! I am very excited for this challenge! :cheer2:

I heard that Peco Bills was definitely a "must-do" (The toppings bar really intrigues me!)

I am going to check out the menu for Contempo Cafe, being that we could just take the monorail from MK over there one afternoon.

The last time I had Pizza Planet was during my very first trip to WDW, and I remember it being good!

I will check out the selection for Yakitori House-We are very big fans of Chinese/Japanese food. Well, what America considers "authentic". :rotfl2:

I have been reading nothing but people RAVING about WGPE, it is definitely going on our list! :-)

I saw someone's Dining Review and they posted photos of all the goodies at Starring Rolls and if anything, I want to visit it for a tasty sweet-treat! :-)

I am SOOOOO excited to try Earl of Sandwich!

The more I have been reading people's posts to my discussion and reading other's Dining Reviews, I think that we will be just fine! :-) I can't wait to do a review on my dining experience, WITHOUT the dining plan.

Cosmic Rays at MK
Flame Tree at AK
Epcot...Sunshine
DHS - none sorry!

We had Flame Tree during our honeymoon back in June. That is the other thing, I am being stubborn and refusing to use fall-backs. I really want to be able to convince myself that the bad rep. I give CS is not what it seems. (*Keeps Fingers Crossed*) I just remember my family trip back in Dec. of '06 where my Dad did not make ANY adr's and we were stuck eating chicken fingers and burgers the entire trip. I am NOT a burger fan!
