Just wanted to share a little story with you guys. This morning I was a keynote speaker at a 9/11 breakfast meeting. While I was getting ready - my son came into my room with his Marine Corp uniform on (some of you have seen his picture)
He always wears his uniform to school on 9/11. He will be 8 on Nov. 1st. He is in second grade. When I walked him to his class this morning - I ended up talking to his teacher out in the hallway for a few minutes about nothing particular. After my DS hung his bookbag up - he came out in the hallway where we were and asked his teacher if he could talk to the class about 9/11.
I think she was initially nervous about how detailed he might get - not knowing how much the other parents want their children knowing. So she asked my DS - "what would you like to say?" My DS answered "I would just like to say to our class that 7 years ago our country was attacked by terrorists. They flew planes into the WTC, the Pentagon, and a field in PA. Today I'm wearing this uniform because I believe that freedom is worth fighting for".
I'm not ashamed to say I bawled my eyes out on the way back to my car. He makes me so darn proud!
Sorry about the proud mom brag - I just had to share!
That's a great story transparant.
You should be very proud of him! Most kids that age don't have a clue as to what happened on 9/11.My DD8 is well aware too. She also watched the DNC and RNC with us too, she loves politics and likes to stay informed on the issues. (I see the student council in her not too distant future.

Welcome. I am not a big debater, but it is nice being able to come here and share ideas and observations-like the really irritating one below:
