Breezy, I'm with ya!!! Unfortunately, my DIS time has been cut down because of school Wonder Woman has Always been my Hero!

I've thought that all along.

Sure the photo is a political joke, but there really is TRUTH in kidding.

My Aunt Evelyn used to always say, Many A Truth Is Said In Jest
In fact, it has now become one of my sayings.

I'm guessing you guys have already spoken of this, but it really bothers me.
Obama told Bill O'Reilly that it is considered Neighborly for those who make more to pay more in taxes. My SIL has been saying something similar for the past few years. Whenever we talk politics she always tells us she doesn't mind paying more in taxes to help those who need it.

Growing up in The Bronx, I have seen more fraud and waste; so much that it made me change party lines.
I got my Puerto Rican butt up every morning, went to college on financial aid, trudged through with a minimum wage job and finally reaped the rewards of the fruits of my labor.

Because I actually got my butt up to put myself in a better position in life means that I have to pay for those who don't?!?!?! And my taxes also go to pay for schooling/food/hospital services that Illegals utilize!
That reasoning is UnAmerican, it is crazyness! It goes against everything that this country was founded on! Of course there are those Americans who are sincerely in need of SS benefits, etc. and they are deserving of it. That's what it's there for.
But I am a Good Neighbor whether or not I pay more taxes! How dare he!
Why don't he give away more of His money!

Ask her if she takes a home mortgage deduction? Or deductions for her kids? Or, if she paid even a dime more than was called for. It's perfectly legitimate for someone to voluntarily pay MORE in taxes. If she doesn't mind paying more taxes, ask her if she did.

I'll bet we both know the answer to that one!

EXACTLY!!!! Why should I help anyone who has no intention of ever helping themselves? I believe that welfare should only be there for emergencies and be considered TEMPORARY help, it should never be considered a way of life.

Hey, how about we post a "Why did Obama go to Pakistan?" thread. As I posted on another thread:

Why did Barack Obama go on a mysterious trip to Pakistan in 1981 for three weeks. He doesn't seem to want to talk about this trip. How come? Why'd he go there? Who'd he stay with? Pakistan was in turmoil at the time, under martial law, on the State Department's banned travel list, and all non-Muslim visitors were denied admittance unless traveling on official business of their embassies. I have read that perhaps Obama used an Indonesian passport to go there, as he may hold dual citizenship. The Mujahedeen was staging its war with Russia from bases in Pakistan, and a younger Osama Bin Laden was operating out of Quetta, Pakistan at the time. Pakistan in 1981 was not a college travel destination. Why did Barack Obama go there? Why did he leave this trip out of his autobiographies? Why has he refused to discuss it?

Interesting, no? And oh Lord, the OS's heads will just explode with "what are you suggesting?" righteous indignation. Personally, I'm hoping the McCain campaign's been doing oppo research on the trip and has a little October surprise up its sleeve. There are just soooo many potential October surprises that the press has tried to help Obama cover up.

That’s a legitimate question. I’ve read up on a lot of this. I do believe that he used an Indonesian passport. People researching this believe that he obtained citizenship with Indonesia when his mother married his step-father. The main purpose of people demanding to see his actual birth certificate (and not that photo of bits and pieces of one that suddenly appeared on factcheck.org after Obama’s little vacation to Hawaii) since the one on his fight the smears campaign website has been proven to have been tampered with in photoshop is to find out what name is currently on his birth certificate. It is believed (or is it actually proven?) that it was changed to Soetoro when his mother married his step-father and people want to know when he had it legally changed back to Obama (or was it even Obama to begin with as I think people were finding out that his parents weren’t married) and people want to know how long he had Indonesian citizenship. I believe that it was discovered that if he had Indonesian citizenship than he couldn’t keep his US citizenship at the same time. The questions just go on and on and no one will ask this. I was reading yesterday that he went to Indonesia to see his mother and left from Indonesia to go to Pakistan.

Ooh, that's a good one! I'm bad with deliveries, but DH is Excellent - he did take a Verbal Judo course (not kidding!) so I'll let him keep that one in his pocket - I never thought about that before, you are correct! I know she takes all those deductions!

Yup, as an active member of the Hillary support thread - man were a couple of the OS unglued over there yesterday. Chobie's been after me for awhile now but for LuvDuke to make reappearance and stir up stuff means that they’re squirming.

I'm in. As long as we all know that any OS will not listen to us (and will not answer any legitimate questions in regards to their messiah) I don't mind having some fun and hoping (and praying) that any undecided’s actually listen and began thinking about things.

Hey all,


We survived the storm with little damage to the house (I did spill my cognac at one point when the sideways rain was coming under the door)and trying to climb the stairs).

My parents house.....much damage. Lots of trees down everywhere and on top of everything.

Most importantly, noone we know was hurt.

Noone has power around here yet and there no basic services up and running. We are siphoning gas and still have about 2 days worth of fuel. After that, our situation deteriorates.

We spend our days roaming from bowling alley to bowling alley in search of beer......

Just heard about Lehman.......

New York.......bankers......what's next.......dogs and cats sleeping together?
