The Conservative Thread: Back to Basics. Pass the Lasagna and Have a Flower!!

Good morning everyone! I just got out of bed. Had a late night talking with some awesome buddies. :rotfl:
I'm getting the sad feeling that my life will not be complete without a large slice of that scrumptious chocolate cake....ugh, the peril of being so far away from something so beautiful...
My mouth is salivating too....

Really? WHERE? I love clam chowder, and we'll be there in January. :) We'll be eating at the condo, mostly, but I'll make a point of getting some of that!

As for the food porn here, I was doing juuuuuuust fine right up until I saw those mashed potatoes and gravy. I'm a gravy slave. Man I really want some of that now. I think I've told you guys this before, but when I was pregnant with my oldest, when the hyperemesis finally subsided about month 5 or 6, I craved mashed potatoes and gravy from KFC all the time. Home made would NOT do. It was a 25 minute drive from my house to go get them...but I did it regularly. After awhile all the drive through people had it figured out, and nobody asked if I wanted any chicken with that anymore. :lmao: I could just picture them as I drove away from the speaker yelling "It's that pregnant lady again!"
LOL!!!!! I was like that with a certain ice cream bar in the hospital cafeteria. Our apartment was across the parking lot from the hospital, so I'd send DH over there to pick me up one every.single.day. It got to the point where they were ordering them just for me. :)

Yum!! Those taters and macaroni look yummy.

MeghansMommy- I hope your sister's doctor is able to find the right combo of medication. I feel so bad for her.

Someone asked about weather? It was pretty warm here today. I would love to have some snow here. Hey, I can dream, right? ;)

I feel like I can finally breathe a little easier now. I've had a lot of Chemistry homework these past few days. Not easy for this girl. I just don't seem to catch on as quickly as I use to, lol.
Thanks Studentmom! Good luck with those classes!!!

I was looking up conservative quotes for this purpose, and I found the following from Calvin Coolidge:

"We cannot do everything at once, but we can do something at once."

I think it speaks to how we can't get the Republican party and conservatism back on track all at once, but we can start right now. And we can do it by working together. Not sure how to make it fit as a title though.

ETA: Debbie, croque monsieur is essentially a grilled hot ham and cheese sandwich, popular in France. Chefs de France sells it as well, although not sure if that's where hockeymom's pic came from.
I love that quote. It's perfect not only for the Republican party, but for me getting the house ready for guests coming for Christmas.:rotfl:

No matter what it is like, it will be nicer than it is here. January is "Seriously Snotty" season.

And since you complimented Washington state, I will now subject you to a few pics :scared1: :

Gig Harbor, where I "officially" live (according to my street address) although I actually live on Key Peninsula. When I was in high school, though, I lived on the water, a bit to the left down the harbor from where this picture was taken. I did see that view out our living room windows for those years. :)

Big Mama deer snacking on huckleberries in my driveway. She brings her baby every year to snack on my garden, too.

Don't even know why I'm including this one, except I think it's a pretty cool picture, and it shows the crazy undergrowth we have here that swallows things up. This is in the woods behind my house.

JoEmma State Park, a few miles down the peninsula from us.

Beautiful!!! Thanks so much for sharing!!!
*eta; yeah, I like watching the Blue Angels too...oh heck, any fighters flying turns me on. I wanted to be a fighter pilot soooooooo bad. I love the things. Does that make me a warmongering....ah never mind, just associating with you guys makes me that. (haha...joking) I really never wanted to bomb anything, just wanted to drive the sportscar.
I wanted to be a fighter pilot too! But since I can't handle anything more than a carosel ride (seriously - I get motion sickness pretty awful), I decided that maybe it's not the thing for me. The movie Star Wars inspired me though - I sooo wanted to be a fighter pilot. Still do! :)

SO much to do today! Must go get paint (45 minute drive just to get there), get DH started with painting (after the Michigan game) and get that darn basement finished. I'm going through the kids' toys - maybe I should just get a trash bag and toss it all, but then I think about landfills and how other kids could use these toys, so I sit and organize.... I don't have that organizing gene, kwim?

Have a great day everyone!

Have I slipped into some alternate universe?

I think I've gained 10 pounds from just *reading* this thread.

Thanks a lot!! :headache:

New thread title idea:

(on a play of Motel 6 commercial)

WE'LL LEAVE THE BAT SIGNAL ON FOR YOU

LOL I like the famous quotes, I like the friends one, but the last one, "We'll leave the Bat Signal on for you." Totally cracks me up and is appropriate!

Off to hockey... and go blue color! *said by a State GO Green Go White fan*

Morning all! The big OSU/Michigan game is almost on so I don't have time to post much.

But...I love the ideas for the new thread. I especially like the bat signal one, and the Beck one about "we're the people clinging to God and Guns" hehehe.

I also like that third quote someone posted a ways back...I can't remember it exactly.

Ah well....we're almost to 250, so who's gonna start it? popcorn::

Oh, and the food was sooooooo good! I especially liked SM's choc. cake and the cheezy pasta  Thanks guys! :goodvibes

Does he live on the east side of the mountains? Yeah...totally different weather system.
Oh, yeah. Way different.

And HEY Tink, watch it there, Pup! :lmao: Not pretty. HMMMPH!

First: Oooooh, men in uniform. *drools* :rotfl:
Second: Yes, not pretty! I think tall scraggly pine trees and gray skies are not pretty.

Hey Tink- my sister put up my tree last year and helped me decorate. :thumbsup2 My belly was so big I couldn't even get near the tree unless I turned to the side  . But I was so nuts after Christmas, I ripped most of it down by myself. I have no idea how. :confused3

:santa: All of us with new babies this year: It's their first Christmas!!!!! :goodvibes
Yeah, DH put up all (5) decorations last year. I could barely reach anything unless I turned sideways.
And yup, baby's first Christmas! Do you have a Christmas outfit yet? I have one for pictures: white button-up shirt, plaid vest, red tie, and black slacks.

Looking out on the CB today, I'm wondering who some of those folks will turn their hate to when GWB is gone. Does Bush Derangement Syndrome have a shelf life? What in the world will happen to those folks when a survey comes out in 10 years or so saying Bush is one of the best presidents of all time (he kept us safe from terrorist attacks; Obama is looking at keeping most of Bush's terrorism policies…). I was around when the left and the media was crowing that Ronald Reagan's presidency was the "worst evah!" And today? He's considered among the top 10 presidents we've ever had. I think GWB will be up there, too, as history looks at him and we learn more and more about what a truly dangerous world he kept us safe from.

Some buckeyes anyone? :rolleyes1

:teeth:

Oh my! Um, is that some sort of chocolate peanut butter ball?? I'd like to make something like that for Christmas time.

I'm so happy. The Santa Clause will be airing tonight on the Disney channel. :woohoo: I love that movie and the two after it.
Oh, I like all of those thread titles, too.:thumbsup2
