I keep relooking at those pics Michelle posted. They're just beautiful!

Yeah, he lives near Yakima. :)

One of my best friends lives in the Yakima valley, in Nachez. I don't like that side much, though. Too dry, TOOOOO hot in the summer, and too blessed cold in the winter. I like my temperate side, and I'll live with the rain.

And HEY Tink, watch it there, Pup! :lmao: Not pretty. HMMMPH!

*eta; yeah, I like watching the Blue Angels too...oh heck, any fighters flying turns me on. I wanted to be a fighter pilot soooooooo bad. I love the things. Does that make me a warmongering....ah never mind, just associating with you guys makes me that. (haha...joking) I really never wanted to bomb anything, just wanted to drive the sportscar.

Way OT...

(but hope somebody can help...)

Any suggestions for test prep for the SAT's?

My second oldest took it last month, and he did okay, but he would like to raise his scores.

He wants to study for it, but I'm not sure what is the best way.
He did good in critical reading, but not as well as he was hoping in math and writing.

We homeschool, so we won't get any help from anyone at high school.

Thanks for any ideas, suggestions, etc. :goodvibes

When is he going to take it? There are SAT prep books that will help him, and computer programs. They aren't ridiculously expensive. I used to have one hanging around here but I think I might have tossed it. Or maybe it was an LSAT...don't remember.

He took it on November 1, and he can re-take it either the end of January, or the middle of March.

Okay, that's plenty of time. Check and see if your library has the prep book. They might very well. I'll look around and see if I chucked the one I had or not. I threw out a lot of old computer programs, parts, and books after hubby left for Iraq (shhhhhhhh  ) and I remember having it in my hand. Just can't remember if I tossed it or put it back. If I find it, and if your library doesn't have it, I'd be glad to send it to him if you're comfie giving me your address. NOT here of course. I'd PM you my private email address.

If you end up buying new or used, go to Amazon.com and read the reviews for various books and cd's. It will give you a better idea before you spend your money.

Good heavens! What else did they lie about?
Witness against Stevens says he lied on stand

Nov 21 03:44 PM US/Eastern

WASHINGTON (AP) - One of the government's witnesses against convicted Sen. Ted Stevens of Alaska now says he wasn't truthful on the stand.
David Anderson, who worked on Stevens' house for VECO founder Bill Allen, testified during the trial that there was no agreement with the Justice Department for immunity for him, his family or friends in exchange for his testimony.

Anderson now says he did have an understanding with the Justice Department. This came out Friday in a letter Anderson wrote to U.S. District Judge Emmet Sullivan.

Stevens' lawyers want a hearing on Anderson's allegations. The Justice Department had no immediate comment.

what's the limit on a thread...this didn't take very long.

"food for conservative thought"

We need suggestions for our new thread. I think it should have something to do with what ties us together.....like friends and values. :goodvibes

I'm mainly an observer, but I liked the "food for conservative thought one. :thumbsup2

I made Dolce some potatoes and gravy. I'm bettin' she'll share.

I'm bettin' she'll not...

...ok ... ok... I'll share :teeth: Thanks for the food :thumbsup2

Did someone say food?

Really? WHERE? I love clam chowder, and we'll be there in January. :) We'll be eating at the condo, mostly, but I'll make a point of getting some of that!

I had it last year when I was at Disneyland/DCA. It was a perfect day for it - briskly cold and I was sitting outside by a heat lamp. I recall it being good - but being from Texas, clam chowder isn't something that I eat a lot so I don't know what is good clam chowder or what isn't.

Practice tests... practice tests... practice tests...
Try to get a hold of as many as you can. If he's already taken it once than I'll assume that the "bulk" of his studying has been completed. Just have him take practice tests over and over so that he's used to sitting the test and answering those types of tests questions in the given time on test day. I know on the LSAT's and the GRE's you get order old tests off their websites to take as practice tests. Can you do the same for the SAT?

Oh, and what I was speaking of last night: on the Restaurants board on the DIS - they have a food thread that they jokingly refer to over there as "food porn" and people actually take pictures of their food at WDW and post it. I don't think that I could ever do it (with the exception of this:

CIMG2098.jpg

this thing was so huge that I had to take a pic of it. I could barley fit my mouth around the thing to take a bite. It was fresh Oatmeal Raisin cookies with I don't know how many scoops of vanilla ice cream packed inside from the Main Street Bakery. Soooo gooood)

but I do love to look at all of those pictures people post of their food, even if I’m too embarrassed to take my own when I’m there..... And then for some reason I make an insane amount of ADR's for my next Disney trip.

I try to stay away from the food porn but looking sure does give you ideas for what you may want to eat. Unfortuntunately, some days I don't want to wait for vacation so I go looking for a reasonable subtitute closer to home.

Here's a few good quotes. Any of these will make a great thread title. IMO

"Never, never, never give up."
Winston Churchill

"Whatever you are, be a good one."
Abraham Lincoln

"Happiness and moral duty are inseparably connected."
George Washington

I like the last one.

Wow - I can't believe the other thread got deleted! :scared1: I don't understand. With no explanation? :confused3 I thought they said they would lock the threads. At least they have another place to go. We all need a place to vent. :hippie:

BTW-The food porn on here is amazing. :cloud9:

Well - I spent way over my $100 in Tarjay. :headache: That place is the ruination of my wallet.

Hey Tink- my sister put up my tree last year and helped me decorate. :thumbsup2 My belly was so big I couldn't even get near the tree unless I turned to the side  . But I was so nuts after Christmas, I ripped most of it down by myself. I have no idea how. :confused3

:santa: All of us with new babies this year: It's their first Christmas!!!!! :goodvibes

For the SAT prep, try the Princeton Review books. The first half is helpful tips and strategies, and then they come with two practice tests I think. Good luck!
