Hey DOLCE! *shouting to be heard over all the chitty chatty around here*

How is your chest today? Mine's a lot better. It really hurt last night, in front and under my shoulder blades, but I drank a couple cups of medicinal tea last night and whether it was that or just the passing of time, the stuff broke up overnight. I coughed and coughed and hacked and spit this morning (kinda freaked the kids out) and I'm still coughing, but at least the stuff is moving now. :thumbsup2 Drinking more tea every few hours for good measure. Still feel a little bum, but much better than yesterday. Hope you're getting better too.

Hey back at ya! I'm starting to feel somewhat better. I went to the doctor this morning. Everything was sitting in my chest for the past few days and I was having trouble with my lungs - both when I spoke and did too much and then they just plan wheezed. I was concerned about pneumonia but fortunately I passed the breath test that my doctor gave me to check for it. While my doctor was surprised that I passed the test, after listening to my lungs she thought I'd fail it, I'm just thankful it isn't anything that serious. I finally began coughing today so hopefully I'm on the mend.

If we did that there would be no plates. Or coins. Or t-shirts. Or posters. Or columns. Or books. Or amusement park bo rides. Or...

Speaking of columns.. did we ever discuss how one column at Obma's DNC ego spee- I mean, DNC acceptance speech, costed almost as much as Palin's RNC wardrobe that she got so much flack over? At least she could donate the wardrobe to charity - which I believe they did - what are they going to do about allll that money blown on stupid columns made to appease one man's ego?

Alright, y'all are going to have to stay on top of some the nutcase OSers. I'm leaving to attend my Mom's retirement celebration that her coworkers are putting on for her. She's retiring next week after 40+ years of teaching elementary school.

Zip, please tell your mom congratulations from me. My mom was a high school principal's secretary for 31 years before she retired. Your mom must be granted sainthood, I swear.

Latest report from the CB (where I am NOT posting):

We conservatives are toothless hillbillies who marry our cousins, run meth labs and voted for McCain (apparently most meth lab operators were McCain supporters), need to wear Depends because we "leak", and (this one made me throw up a little in my mouth) we want to have, ummm, relations with Barack Obama and lie awake in our beds at night looking at our husbands who just don't measure up to him (projection much? Some are posting "pin-up" photos of The One and then posting "drool" comments. Ick. Ickity ick ick ick.).

Oh, and we're really…yeah, you guessed it, HATEFUL (as opposed to the peace and "flowers" above, I suppose).

What was that someone said? Oh yeah, "You just can't make this stuff up!"

I mean I loooved Ronald Reagan, but, uh, not in that way. It wasn't a crush. It was his love for America (and American exceptionalism), his soaring belief in our ability to manage our own freedom, his disdain for encroaching government power. This Obama love is something else entirely. And it is creepy — and kind of sad. They're Brad Pitt-ing him — and there isn't a person in the world who takes Brad Pitt seriously.

Wow. Good to know. I really didn't know that about myself but since the OS said it, it must be true. :thumbsup2

Sorry to break into your "private thread" here but maybe the full post would be in order as it is obvious that you missed the beginning and the ending of the post you are referencing:

My coworkers boyfriend's aunt had this friend who was a McCain supporter, and he had this confederate flag in the back window of his pick-up truck, and he didn't have any teeth! And he married his cousin. It was crazy unbelievable, but I swear it's true. Now he and his cousin-bride live in a trailer in the mountains and they run a meth lab. You might think it's not true, but I have a feeling there are a lot of inbred rednecks who run meth labs who voted for McCain.

For the record, I say that all in jest.

It is easy to dish it out but not so easy to take it in return. :confused3

And just for the record, I believe that Brad Pitt has done more for New Orleans than the current President has.

http://www.makeitrightnola.org/

And the part that I bolded from designermv quote above is accurate how? Sorry, I saw one joke post that any OS on welfare would spend their money on his junk currently being sold but there's been no all out bashing and accusing all of you OS of .. what was it? ... "sweeping generalization that Obama supporters are a bunch of uneducated, welfare-moochin', food stamp abusin' morons"

Yeah, didn't happen. Your quote of "It is easy to dish it out but not so easy to take it in return." is irrelevant because we never dished it out in the first place. Please stop trying to cause trouble on our thread. You'd be ticked if I was rude enough to do the same thing on your thread.

Am I on the Disboards? Wow, I think I just stepped onto another planet. One would think his supporters would be happy he bought..ur...I mean "won" the election. They can't find anything else to do but taunt and antagonize those who didn't choose him. Is this the joy we have to look forward to for the next four years?

Was wondering the same thing.

My favorite place EVER to eat at WDW is Garden Grill. That's our Christmas meal this year. Great setting, great food.... it's just awesome if you haven't been there yet. I love the food. I love it!!!!:dance3: :dance3:

Are you eating there on Christmas Day? I have an ADR for the Garden Grill on Christmas Day. I've never been there before.

Thank you Dolce! For listening to me vent and spell/type badly! DS was studying, though through South Park. At least its over now and he can just study!

I tried to read the CB, I gave up. Maybe another day when its not so hate filled.

I wonder....chi ottiene l'ultima risata? (Who gets the last laugh?)
Looks like they're getting anxious already about Obama and Iraq:
Antiwar groups fear Barack Obama may create hawkish Cabinet
Activists note that most of the candidates for top security posts voted for the 2002 resolution authorizing President Bush to invade Iraq or otherwise supported launching the war.
By Paul Richter
November 20, 2008
Reporting from Washington -- Antiwar groups and other liberal activists are increasingly concerned at signs that Barack Obama's national security team will be dominated by appointees who favored the Iraq invasion and hold hawkish views on other important foreign policy issues.

The activists are uneasy not only about signs that both Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) and Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates could be in the Obama Cabinet, but at reports suggesting that several other short-list candidates for top security posts backed the decision to go to war.

"Obama ran his campaign around the idea the war was not legitimate, but it sends a very different message when you bring in people who supported the war from the beginning," said Kelly Dougherty, executive director of the 54-chapter Iraq Veterans Against the War.
Man, is this going to be fun!!!

Geoff, I wish I had your ability to detach -- I still get a little sick about all of this...

However, I do have a few light moments...I guess Pritzker was too far gone for even H's administration...

News reports today indicated that wealthy Chicago businesswoman Penny Pritzker, Barack Obama's campaign finance chair, was being strongly considered for Commerce Secretary. The buzz grew so quickly that the transition, unlike with previous leaks, which lingered, issued a statement this afternoon noting that Pritzker "is not interested in serving at this time."

"Penny Pritzker is a trusted adviser and valued friend to the President-elect, and played a critical role in his campaign," said Obama transition spokesperson Stephanie Cutter. :She would be an enormous asset to an Obama Administration given her experience in business and economic growth, but has decided that given her family and business commitments she is not interested in serving at this time. She'll continue to be a close economic advisor to the President-elect and his team."

Dem sources say Pritzker was not vetted because she was not interested in serving in the Cabinet. She said so, too, in a statement released as well this afternoon.

Other leakage du jour: AZ Gov. Janet Napolitano for Homeland Security chief and KS Gov. Kathleen Sebelius for Labor Dept. Sec.

But the thought of Sebelius for ANYTHING brings back the gloom :sad2: I guess the folks in KS will be happy though ...

I just read on Michellemalkin that the AG just collapsed and is still receiving treatment....prayers...

He was in the middle of his speech when it happened. And what a sad speech it was - here's an excerpt:

As the end of this Administration draws near, you would expect to hear broad praise for this success at keeping our Nation safe. Instead, I am afraid what we hear is a chorus with a rather more dissonant refrain. Instead of appreciation, or even a fair appraisal, of the Administration’s accomplishments, we have heard relentless criticism of the very policies that have helped keep us safe. We have seen this in the media, we have seen this in the Congress, and we have heard it from the legal academy as well.

In some measure, those criticisms rest on a very dangerous form of amnesia that views the success of our counterterrorism efforts as something that undermines the justification for continuing them. In an odd way, we have become victims of our own success. In the eyes of these critics, if Al Qaeda has not struck our homeland for seven years, then perhaps it never posed much of a threat after all and we didn’t need these counterterrorism policies.

And, to all of you lurkers out there - one of whom seems really concerned about GWB's lack of concern for NOLA --- uhhh, maybe he's had bigger fish to fry like SAVING THE FREE WORLD FROM TERRORISTS!!!!!!! And maybe, just maybe the responsibility of NOLA goes to, perhaps, its MAYOR and its CITIZENS!!!!!

And I know some really fine folks still living in NOLA and helping the others in NOLA who would agree....

This is the fruit of their profound intolerance for alternative points of view. Sad, aint it?

Even funnier are the people that honestly think that anything would have been measurably better in NOLA after Katrina if Kerry had been President! But, they can at least be happy knowing that we'll have fewer and weaker hurricanes once O gets in office! :thumbsup2

It is an atmosphere of: "Silence!! All dissension is strictly prohibited. If you dare to do so, expect to be labeled as a hateful racist and/or Christian." Oh, and your kids might grow up to be murderers if you speak ill of Obama in their presence.:scared1: :rotfl:

We just got back from an evening that was all about honoring my Mom for her 42 years of teaching elementary school. Her colleagues praised her profusely. I have to admit that I got tears in my eyes a few time as people were saying such nice things about her. Lots of talk about her way of loving especially the most difficult kids, inspiring her kids to learn in unconventional ways, and how she was never shy about being a person of great faith.

Not to change the subject, but I just saw the most inane best buy commercial ever.
This bb guy is talking about a wife wanting to give her husband a new phone but didn't know how to go about it. He suggested that she wait until he's sleeping, take the Sim card out of the old phone, put it in the new one, wrap it up, stick it under the tree, and have someone call the phone. Not only calling the phone, but do it from another room!
He said 'she was so happy we thought of this'!
Right. Because we as consumers are too stupid to think of this on our own so we need best buy to tell us how to do this. :thumbsup2 :rolleyes1

Sorry, that just struck me for some reason. And this is a commerical on the Discovery channel.

Obviously that commercial was geared to Best Buy's conservative demographic...:rotfl:

[although I hate to admit it - but I wouldn't have thought of it either! thanks Best Buy - one less reason to use my brain this winter season]

Seriously, I love how "Christian" has become a derogatory term. I can't wait for somebody to throw that in my face. It will mean I'm doing something right. ;)

Loco - that comment does crack me up a little considering some of us singletons spend a lot of time on these boards talking about not having husbands....

...so I guess they're saying that, with H in office, we are better off husband-less, since all we'd do is ....ugh, don't even want to finish THAT sentence....

A good little Christian would never criticize a politician. Surely Jesus would frown on such behavior. They should roam the earth preaching "ask no questions, and then you will be told no lies". Trust and follow your mortal leaders like good little soldiers.:thumbsup2
