Alex: Alex couldn't refrain herself from standing up and walking into the kitchen, she was worried and just needed to be assured everything was alright. Seeing Toby Alex came to a sudden halt seeing everything wasn't alright. Cautiously, she walked behind Toby and gently tapped his shoulder. "Toby? Are you okay?" She asked quietly.

Toby: Toby jolted at Alex's touch, he was both glad that she had come into the kitchen because he knew that he wasn't okay, but he was also extremely embarrassed and almost ashamed to have anyone, even his best friend see him like this. He shook his head side to side slowly and took a slow but shallow breath "no" he managed to say before returning back into short unsteady breaths, he focused all of his attention on breathing normally and managed to slow it down some. He still felt to unsteady to move his hands from the counter.

He shook his head side to side slowly and took a slow but shallow breath "no" he managed to say before returning back into short unsteady breaths, he focused all of his attention on breathing normally and managed to slow it down some. He still felt to unsteady to move his hands from the counter.

Alex: Alex's lip trembled seeing her best friend so hurt and she took a step to the side to stand next to him. "Once you catch your breath a little more, why don't you tell me why you're not okay?" She asked in a calming voice.

Toby: Toby nodded, he closed his eyes and let himself catch his breath. With Alex next to him the questions stopped, and he no longer felt like he was being suffocated by them. "okay" he said much more relaxed. He opened his eyes and relaxed his arms no longer pushing down, but he still didn't move them from where they were. "It's just, what Max said earlier" he said focusing on a spot on the wall in front of him not sure if he could look at Alex and say this.
"It's just, I think she's right. I do take things for granted, I don't realize what I have here. I'm always focusing on the negatives, and I'm too worried about being safe to take risks and do crazy things. She's right, I have missed out on experiences because of this. I know she probably wasn't saying all of this directed at me, but I really feel like she was. And now, now I'm wondering if I should even be at this school. There's probably someone much more deserving, someone who would appreciate it more than me who should be here instead" he said still focusing on the spot on the wall in front of him waiting for a response from Alex, and breathing more heavily again.

You deserve to be here just like the rest of us. And who cares if you don't take risks? That just proves you think things more thoroughly than us and if it really bothers you, I'll take you somewhere so we can do something new with the others," She said with eyebrows furrowed before looking down slightly. "If you hadn't come here and someone else did we wouldn't have met and wouldn't have become best friends," She said quieter before sighing once more. "Things happen for a reason Toby, and that reason that brought you here wasn't wasted on you so don't you waste it. Maybe you don't have the same problems as Max or have a hard past but that doesn't mean you don't have problems or that you don't deserve to be here."

That just proves you think things more thoroughly than us and if it really bothers you, I'll take you somewhere so we can do something new with the others," She said with eyebrows furrowed before looking down slightly. His mind began to wander back to some of the questions he had been asking himself before. He braced himself trying to fight them back clenching his fists at his sides. He breathed quickly, and then his breathing slowed as the questions stopped. He opened his eyes and looked at Alex "I'm sorry" he said quietly.

Toby: "okay" Toby said nodding listening to Alex. He still didn't feel like himself, he suddenly felt exhausted like everything had been taken from him within a few short minutes. His mind began to wander back to some of the questions he had been asking himself before. He braced himself trying to fight them back clenching his fists at his sides. He breathed quickly, and then his breathing slowed as the questions stopped. He opened his eyes and looked at Alex "I'm sorry" he said quietly.

Alex: Alex frowned and shook her head," Nothing to be sorry about." She looked up at him with worry and asked," Do you want to take a rest or something? You could stay here and take a nap to help yourself feel better. I don't want you to be up and about not feeling one- hundred percent yourself."

"yeah, I think I better take a minute" he said thinking he would just go upstairs and sit on one of the couches for a while. then he suddenly realized how afraid he was to be alone right now, he didn't want to start being consumed by the questions again. He froze not being able to keep coherent thoughts, he tried to remember what he was going to do.

Alex: Alex smiled slightly and nodded her head. "Yeah, I'll stay with you," She said before adding in case he felt upset for making her stay," Besides, now that I'm going to stay I can make sure you're okay and make my necklace out if my seashell. So, win-win."

Alex: Alex sighed and grabbed a water bottle from the fridge and another apple, taking a bite then a drink. She started humming under her breath before turning back to Toby and asked," Do you want us to stay in here? Or do you want to go ahead and start resting?"

Alex: Alex walked up the stairs and dropped on the couch taking a drink of her water. Placing her water bottle on the ground next to the couch she took her shell out of a pocket in her bathing suit and looked at it hoping for a spot where she can place a thread or rope. "I think I might make this an anklet instead of a necklace," She said taking a bit if her apple.
