The Broadway show thread where we discuss all things Broadway

Not happy right now. We were supposed to see Matilda tonight. but we are expecting a foot of snow here on Long Island, so no way are we venturing into the city. Not sure if we will be able to exchange the tickets -- we didn't buy the tickets, they're house seats and we won them at a charitable event. Very disappointed.

I ran into this a few years ago when a freak snow storm hit here and they advised us not to venture out and didn't cancel the show and I was out of luck and wasn't refunded my money due to the show still going on. Sorry to hear that you can't make it out. :(

Has anyone seen the Evita touring production? I am seeing it 2 separate times in March and likely seeing both of the girls that play Eva, was just curious of people's thoughts on the two.

I am seeing it a week from tonight

Not sure about this one. Usually, but not always, producers will let you exchange purchased tickets for a later performance. But for freebie tickets??

I guess you can call the box office. Maybe they can accommodate you, if not with house seats, at least with something.

We saw Lion King this past weekend- what a great show! We had 7th row aisle seats and it was so great when they came down the aisle right next to us!

Saw Pippin yesterday- city was insane with all the super bowl stuff going on, we walked down 8th Ave but even that was packed. Pippin was good- I had NO idea what it was about or what to expect but it was very good! Just got tickets to see Neil Patrick Harris in Hedwig and the Angry Inch in April!

Loved Pippin. I liked the acrobatics they added in this revival, but I was glad they kept a lot of Fossee's choreography.

Greetings fellow theatre fanatics!! I have been away from the board for awhile so I have had fun catching up with everyone's news. I haven't had a darned thing to post until now… I am going to NYC this summer!! I am going to chaperone my daughter's Young Company Performance troop! So excited. And.. even more exciting is that my DH and two sons are going to join us so that after the formal trip ends we can hang out as a family for a few days to soak in the city!! I just eyeballed what is playing or scheduled to open in August and the options looks fabulous. I would love to hear reviews of Hedwig, as well as Daniel Radcliff's new play "The Cripple of Inishmaan." I went with DD's dance group in 2012 and saw Newsies… and we are in luck as it looks like it will still be there so we get to see it again!!! :cheer2: I know for sure the the group will be seeing Aladdin and Cabaret. The rest is wide open!! Idina Menzel in If/Then??? Carole King?? Wow… the options are endless. Please keep the reviews coming as you see stuff. I love to hear them!
I am also pretty excited as I start rehearsals next week for Company. I get to play Joanne… hmmm bitter, self destructive, alcoholic… I hope it wasn't typecasting? :rotfl2: Pretty pumped! Pretty nervous about "Ladies Who Lunch" but will give it my best shot. Maybe I should pound back a Vodka Stinger before every night… except that they sound disgusting. Vodka and white creme de menthe. Eeeewwww.

sounds wonderful!

Are you sure about Cabaret? the way it's done at Studio 54 is very risque, not at all like the movie. We have tickets and I'm excited, but I'm not sure it's a god choice for a younger audience.

Well ironically… the production that this Young Company is doing this year is Cabaret… lol. So that's a big must see on their list. These are all older teens. The youngest is my daughter at 15 so it should be okay. She's been around theatre forever and is a huge Avenue Q, Book of Mormon and Spring Awakening fan. Thanks for the heads up though… it is a reasonable concern for sure! :thumbsup2

Not Broadway, so I hope it's okay to post in this thread. My daughter won the lottery for the final show of Coriolanus with Tom Hiddleston at the Donmar Warehouse in London. My husband said happy Valentines Day, gave me his credit card, and she and I are off to London next week!! To say we're beyond excited is an understatement!
