The Broadway show thread where we discuss all things Broadway

Has anyone been to After Midnight? I am considering getting tickets for this in March but would love to hear a review from someone who has seen it.

I saw this at Christmas, with Dule Hill and Fantasia. We absolutely loved the show. Incredible dancing and singing, along with a great band. The costumes were just beautiful.

Toni Braxton and "Babyface" Edmonds will have the leads in March. You should check out their facebook page because they do run specials and I think there is a contest for tickets right now.

Loved Pippin. I liked the acrobatics they added in this revival, but I was glad they kept a lot of Fossee's choreography.

My first thought when Pippin sang his first song was "wow this guy doesn't have a strong voice" but he and his voice really grew on me and fit the part quickly!

We just got tickets in March to see Bryan Cranston in "All the Way." I'm so excited to see this - it's actually been a while since I've seen a show that is not a musical. Is anyone else planning on seeing this show?

I thought I'd give a little report back on my surprise trip to London to see Coriolanus. It was truly an experience of a lifetime to see this play in such an intimate setting. Being only 15 feet from the stage (The Donmar is set up much like a 3-sided boxing ring with benches) and the actors was quite intense. I'm pretty sure if you were on the floor, you were getting sweat on you, lol.

Tom Hiddleston was fantastic as Caius Martius, Mark Gatiss (Sherlock co-creator and Mycroft) was just wonderful as Menenius. It was well worth way too many hours in planes over a 4 day period.

If you like Shakespeare and you have a chance to see a theater rebroadcast of the live taping, I highly recommend it.

We are seeing it on March 13th. So far in 2014 have seen Beautiful, Outside of Mulligar, the Titanic reunion concert, and this week we are seeing Bridges of Madison County. Also have our tickets for Aladdin and Rocky.

Sounds like everyone has been enjoying great theater!

We saw "Chicago" last week. My boyfriend was shocked that I had never seen it, so when we heard Bebe Neuworth is playing Mama Morton, we had to get tickets. Can I say how much I live the show?

Next week we're going to the Tilles Center (at CW Post/LIU) to see a road company production of "Man of LaMancha". Can't wait.

I'm going to see Peter and the Starcatcher tonight in Providence with a friend. I saw it in NYC two years ago and loved it so I can't wait to see it again! We're just going to buy our tickets at the box office tonight after she gets out of work (we're only 20 minutes from Providence and so we'll drive in, get the tickets, grab dinner and then see the show).

I also have tickets to see Beautiful on Broadway next month with my parents. A friend of our family is in the ensemble and we go see her in just about every show she's done on Broadway (we've only missed one) and so I am quite excited! The last Broadway show I saw was The Mystery of Edwin Drood last February.

Just got tickets for Heathers in April- so April will be so far Heathers and Hedwig and the Angry Inch.

Hi everyone;

My DH, DD and I saw Kinky Boots on Saturday and absolutely loved it. My DD bought the tickets, but had them sent to me (print at home) and I never really looked at the time, since we always do matinees when we go in. To make a long story short -- tried to check in for the 2pm show only to be told that the tickets were for the 8pm show. BUT -- the box office manager worked wonders and swapped tickets out for us. We not only saw the matinee, but from the 5th row!!! Our original tickets had been for the mezzanine, so it was a very pleasant upgrade :thumbsup2

Billy Porter did a fabulous job in his role as Lola/Simon and he was nice enough to let me have my picture taken with him at the stage door.

All-in-all a wonderful day in the city :)

Just want to say that I absolutely drool when I read about everyone's theatre adventures! I will be in NYC this August so hanging on until then!!!! :yay:

Saw Phantom of the Opera during broadway week last month! It was soooo good.
Am taking DD to see Aladdin in a few weeks! We are actually going the day before the official opening. Hope its good!
Will try to get tix for Wicked later this year. My Dsis won tickets a couple years ago and it was sooo good and I think that this year DD is old enough to see it.
Maybe next year we will see the lion king.
We saw Beauty and the Beast on tour---we went to Philly to see it! It was so fun

Saw Beautiful the Carol King Musical last week. I enjoyed it immensely. Much more than I thought I would. The singing was outstanding. It was also funny and nice set changes & costumes. Wow, Carol King really wrote alot of familiar songs sung by other artists.

Grabbed lunch right across the street at Tony DiNapoli's. Very good lunch. We were able to order individual portions and the waitress was very perky.

A good day in NYC.

This thread makes me so, so, so excited for the New York (ie. Broadway) leg of our trip! We'll be there in the last week of November. We have absolutely brilliant theatre in Australia, but the idea of so many shows playing in one city and for so long just makes me dizzy! I'm trying to decide what we want to see and how many shows we want to book ahead versus trying to get cheaper tickets. If/Then is definitely top of the list, probably followed by Book of Mormon and anything else that hasn't come out our way yet. The planning ALMOST makes up for the fact that I'm currently in a 2.5 month break between shows :(

Good to know Idina Menzel has a sense of humor.

The other night theater goers at "If/Then" found a slip in their playbills that understudy "Adele Dazeem" would appear that night. :rotfl2:

If you have a look at @ifthenfan on Instagram you can see the whole slip. It's hilarious!
